Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of The Bastard Executioner on FX at 10/9c. This is a blood-soaked, medieval epic that tells the story of Wilkin Brattle (Lee Jones), a 14th century warrior, whose life is forever changed when a divine messenger beseeches him to lay down his sword and lead the life of another man: a journeyman executioner. Set in northern Wales during a time rife with rebellion and political upheaval, Wilkin must walk a tight rope between protecting his true identity while also serving a mysterious destiny. Guided by Annora (Katey Sagal), a mystical healer whose seeming omniscience keeps Wilkin under her sway; manipulated by Milus Corbett (Stephen Moyer), a devious Chamberlain with grand political aspirations; and driven by a deepening connection with the Baroness Lady Love Ventris (Flora Spencer-Longhurst), Wilkin struggles to navigate political, emotional and supernal pitfalls in his quest to understand his greater purpose. The Bastard Executioner also features series regulars Kurt Sutter, Sam Spruell, Darren Evans, Danny Sapani, Timothy V. Murphy, Sarah White, Sarah Sweeney, Elen Rhys, Ethan Griffiths, and guest star Matthew Rhys.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris on NBC at 10/9c. Five Emmy Awards and a Tony Award make multi-talented Neil Patrick Harris the perfect star for this live one-hour show that is unlike any other on American television. Anything can happen on Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, which will feature appearances by A-list stars, stunts, comedy skits, incredible performances, mini game shows, audience giveaways and hidden camera pranks. Based on the wildly popular British hit “Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway,” this genre-busting format and its fearless star will make for one of the best nights ever on TV, week after week.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Rebel Gold on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. This all-new series follows an experienced group of treasure hunters as they join forces to retrace Jefferson Davis’s trail and search for clues that could lead them to the legendary treasure. With new evidence, the group will go off the beaten path to dig deep into American history and local legend to find out what really happened to the missing “Rebel Gold.” For 150 years since the Civil War, many have attempted to find the lost Confederate riches. But with more than 500 miles of train tracks, dirt roads and river ways to explore, one of America’s most compelling mysteries remains unsolved. The show brings an all-star team of treasure hunters, history experts and engineering specialists — each an expert in their field — who share one common obsession: making history by finding the vanished treasure of “Rebel Gold.” Together, they will combine efforts and go where no one has ventured before to unravel the mystery that could take them deeper into history than ever before. Will the team put their differences aside to make history and reach a common goal or will greed and rivalry pit ever man against each other?
