Jenny’s Choice
In my opinion, Neil Patrick Harris is one of my generation’s funniest and likable TV personalities. Loved him as Doogie Howser, then as Barney, and he always does a fantastic job as host on the award shows. So when I heard about his new variety show, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, I was really excited. And the promos I’ve seen for it have given me high hopes that it’ll live up to the hype. The live, one-hour show comes complete with stunts, skits, pranks, audience interaction, musical numbers, giveaways, and unlimited surprises and is based on the popular British show Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. Hopefully the proven format from the UK will translate to success here in the States!
On tonight’s episode, Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon serves as this week’s celebrity guest announcer.

Kyle’s Choice
Tonight, the first season of Zoo comes to an end on CBS. Last week, the group headed to Zambia to find a leopard cub to get stem cells from to help create a cure for the rampant animal mutation. However, they ran into some local rebels, and Jackson was shot during their escape. They made their way to the hospital, and while Jackson was being treated, the others used the lab to create the cure and verify it worked on a dog. However, the hospital was overrun with leopards, and they lost the mother cell in the mayhem that followed.
Meanwhile, back in the US, Chloe was abducted by Gaspard, who threatened to torture her sister if she didn’t reveal the location of the rest of her group. Delavenne rescued Chloe and took her to Washington, where she met with another group of scientists who were also investigating the mutations. Chloe sent soldiers and a plane to bring Jackson and the others back to the US, but the plane was attacked by animals midair.
It looked like the plane was being ripped apart — who survived the flight? Can the group still make the cure without the mother cell? Can they stop these animals before it’s too late for the survival of our species? Last week, the show reached epically preposterous and comical levels (well, more so than usual). It should be an entertaining season finale, but I hope we get some kind of closure in case the show doesn’t return next summer.
On tonight’s episode, “That Great Big Hill of Hope,” Jackson and the team make a final attempt to find a cure to the worldwide animal pandemic but come across a “hairy” obstacle that just may be impenetrable on the Season 1 finale.

Megan’s Choice
Tonight is the series premiere of The Bastard Executioner, a new drama for FX set in the early 14th century. It follows the life of Wilkin Brattle, a warrior whose life is drastically altered when he is asked to lay down his sword and lead the life of a journeyman executioner. It’s set in northern Wales during a time rife with rebellion and political upheaval. He must hide his identity while also serving a special destiny. The cast is incredible, with the likes of Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), and the very talented Timothy V. Murphy. If you’re looking for a new historically set drama that will give you a dose of bloody battles and a great story line, then this is the show for you.
On tonight’s premiere, “The Pilot- Part 1 & 2,” Wilkin Brattle, a warrior knight in the charge of King Edward I, trades his sword for a peaceful farming life, until the violence of his past finds him and forces him to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
