Tonight, Fargo returns to FX for the start of a whole new season/story, this time set in 1979. In the first season, Lou Solverson referred to a case he had worked on decades earlier in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This season, we head back to when Solverson (Patrick Wilson, A Gifted Man) was a young State Police Officer reporting to his father-in-law, Sheriff Hank Larsson (Ted Danson, CSI), as he looks into a case involving beautician Peggy Blumquist (Kirsten Dunst, Spider-Man) and her butcher’s assistant husband Ed (Jesse Plemons, Breaking Bad). Along the way, they cross paths with Fargo’s local crime family, the Gerhardts – matriarch Floyd (Jean Smart, 24) and her three sons Dodd (Jeffrey Donovan, Burn Notice), Bear (Angus Sampson, Mad Max: Fury Road), and Rye (Kieran Culkin, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) – as well as the local representative of the Kansas City crime syndicate Joe Bulo (Brad Garrett, Everybody Loves Raymond) and his number two, Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine, Riddick). Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) also stars as town lawyer/con artist Karl Weathers.
I loved the first season of Fargo. It was one of my favorite shows of last year. I loved the way it blended of wacky characters and situations with extremely serious, heart-pounding drama and mystery. I can’t wait to re-enter this world tonight!
On tonight’s premiere, “Waiting for Dutch,” a surprising event at a diner disrupts the citizens of a small Minnesota town.

I’m thoroughly enjoying Blindspot, even with the conspiracies beginning to fly around. Last week, a group of thieves robbed a jewelry store, beating up several people and stealing a ton of expensive jewelry…and on the way out, one of the robbers was shot and then he shot and killed the man who’d shot him. His cohorts left him there in order to get away before police showed up. It turned out the man had a SEALs tattoo exactly like Jane’s. Once they figured out who the men were, they realized they were all ex-SEALs and had been discharged, but at least one of them was basically considered a sociopath, so their link to Jane was even more confusing. The gunshot wound guy clearly recognized Jane when she and Weller arrived in the hospital to question him, but before they could learn anything, the other thieves broke into the hospital with automatic weapons to get their guy out of there.
After a lot of shooting, the main bad guy nearly got out of the hospital with him, but Jane and Weller stopped him in time…only to shoot him when he brought his gun up in basically suicide by cop. Then before Jane could get answers, the gunshot wound guy died. Things went FUBAR in the field tracking another of the thieves too, but somehow, Weller convinced the rest of his team and his boss that Jane needed to be more integrated into the team…and she got a gun to go with it. Two other huge pieces of news: Jane is indeed Weller’s neighbor from childhood who got kidnapped, and Mayfair is involved in something – or was involved in something – that isn’t on the up and up…and may get Jane killed.
On tonight’s episode, “Bone May Rot,†Patterson and her puzzle-expert boyfriend, David, (guest star Joe Dinicol) decode a tattoo clue that sends the team to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). While at the CDC, the team discovers a hidden message on Jane’s body that uncovers a plot that could have catastrophic global consequences. Meanwhile, Jane and Weller grow closer. Michael Gaston, Natalie Thomas, and Paul Fitzgerald guest star.
