madoff23smallTonight, ABC airs the first half of its two-part Madoff original movie event, inspired by ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross’s book “The Madoff Chronicle.” It is a dramatization of the rise and fall of investment advisor Bernie Madoff (Richard Dreyfuss), who pulled off the largest financial Ponzi scheme in US history. The miniseries takes a look at how the events affected Madoff’s family and associates, including wife Ruth (Blythe Danner), sons Mark (Tom Lipinski) and Andrew (Danny Defarrari), brother Peter (Peter Scolari), secretary Eleanor Squillari (Erin Cummings), and CFO Frank DiPascali (Michael Rispoli). The rest of the characters include Harry Markopolos (Frank Whaley), the securities industry executive who first discovered what Madoff was up to, Carl Shapiro (Charles Grodin), who lost billions of dollars, and Gregory Perkins (Lewis Black).

I remember hearing about Bernie Madoff on the news but never really followed all of the details. I’m looking forward to checking this out tonight and learning what really went on during this big scandal. It looks like they’ve assembled quite an amazing cast!

The first half of the film airs tonight on ABC at 8/7c, and the 2-hour conclusion airs tomorrow.

I’ll also be watching/recording Arrow, Supernatural, Young & Hungry, Baby Daddy, Man Seeking Woman, Suits, Face Off, Younger, and Teachers.

chicagopd23smallThe last new episode of Chicago PD was a tough one for Voight, but it showed the kind of cop he’s become. His old cellmate, Eddie Little, was determined to become a CI to get money to take his girlfriend and her daughter to Florida to start over. Voight really worked to help him out, but the episode was rough, starting when Eddie killed a guy who showed up at his place, pretending to be FBI. Voight helped cover it up, since Eddie was on parole, by getting the girlfriend say she was the one who’d shot the guy. To pay him back, Eddie decided to try to scam Voight and the others by taking off with all the money collected from a big cocain bust he’d helped with, rather than just take his cut. He actually put a gun to Voight’s head and threatened him. Fortunately, they’d anticipated that, and Antonio was hiding in the car Eddie was planning to use to make a run for it. I felt bad for Voight because he’d so wanted Eddie to be in a good place, and I felt bad for Eddie’s girlfriend, who was blind to the kind of man he was until the very end, when they told her he’d planned to leave them behind. I did love that Voight and Erin were able to convince the powers that be to give Eddie’s (now former) girlfriend and her daughter the CI money.

On another note, when Ruzek put off meeting Burgess’s mom, she’d had enough. She realized that he didn’t really want to get married, and rather than drag it out anymore, she broke up with him and gave him back the ring. I have a feeling those two aren’t done, that Ruzek will realize at some point what he’s missing. But I guess we’ll see!

On tonight’s episode, “Hit Me,” Lindsay goes undercover in an effort to track down a rogue police officer targeting women leaving a local casino. When Detective Martin Watts (guest star Erik Jensen), who oversees all cases out of the casino, gets word of the investigation, he becomes involved much to Voight’s dismay. After recent events, Burgess sets plans in motion to transfer Districts pending Platt’s approval, and Mouse attempts to lift Ruzek’s spirits by offering to set him up with a friend. Meanwhile, Antonio volunteers to take Roman’s place in the upcoming boxing match against Jimmy (guest star Steven R. McQueen) from Firehouse 51. Monica Raymund, David Eigenberg, and Barbara Eve Harris also guest star.

To see if Lindsay can help catch the bad cop, tune in to NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Mysteries of Laura, 2 Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, Law & Order: SVU, Hell’s Kitchen, Code Black, & Restaurant Startup.
