boschsmallI’m a huge reader, and one of my favorite authors/series is Michael Connelly and his Harry Bosch series. So when the news first came out about it becoming a TV series on Amazon, I was over the moon. Thankfully, I was very, very happy with the first season last year. I LOVE Titus Welliver as Bosch. The writers and Welliver himself really capture the character from the book. It’s a slow-moving series – what real action there happens to be is pretty quickly resolved – but for me, that didn’t mean boring. There’s a lot to think about during the show, a lot of emotion and drama. I was incredibly happy when I learned of the renewal for season 2, which premieres late tonight/early tomorrow morning on Amazon at 3AM/2AMc.

The first season combined stories from two of the books, focusing on the remains of a missing boy and a trial for Bosch over the fatal shooting of a murder suspect. The second season picks up where season one left off and plays off the book Trunk Music. A dead body found in the trunk of a car on Mulholland Drive appears to have mob connections and leads LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch down a dangerous trail of corruption and collusion that stretches to Las Vegas and back. As the case becomes more complex and personal, and Bosch’s search for the truth more relentless, the dark side of the police department is brought to light.

Check out season 2 Thursday night/Friday morning on Amazon at 3:01AM/2:01AMc.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Top Chef, 2 Broke Girls, Colony, & Recipe for Deception.

60daysinsmallTonight, A&E kicks off the new 12-part docuseries 60 Days In, which finds seven civilians going undercover as inmates at the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to try to expose crime and corruption in the prison. The jail houses 500 inmates who have been charged with crimes ranging from drug dealing to first-degree murder. Over the years, things have gotten so corrupt that people were actually committing crimes on purpose since drugs were cheaper or more readily available inside! When the former sheriff was arrested on corruption charges, his replacement, Sheriff Jamey Noel, came up with this unprecedented idea on how to root out the crime and corruption in the prison. He hopes these volunteers can help give him an insider perspective to better understand prison life and identify the prison’s main problem areas. The volunteers have been given their cover stories and some basic training to try to keep them safe, but there’s no guarantees and anything could happen. A documentary crew will follow them throughout their 60-day stay behind bars as they try to stay convincing to the other inmates while gathering intelligence.

The participants include Barbara, a military wife and mother of two; Jeff, a former casino security worker; Isaiah, whose older brother has been locked up for the past five years; Maryum, a social worker who’s also the eldest of Muhammad Ali’s nine children; Robert, a teacher who believes the US is too soft on crime; Tami, a former foster kid turned police offer who’s familiar with undercover work; and Zac, a police offer who’s leaving his wife and newborn to partake in the experience.

I caught an ad for this series earlier this week while watching Bates Motel and Damien and thought it looked really interesting. I look forward to checking out tonight’s premiere of this fascinating experiment.

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Unusual Suspects; First Timers,” seven volunteer civilians become undercover inmates in an effort to root out crime and corruption in Indiana’s Clark County Jail; the first participants attempt to make it through their first 24 hours inside the facility.

See how the experiment gets started tonight on A&E at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, Grey’s Anatomy, You, Me, and the Apocalypse, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The 100, Top Chef, Recipe for Deception, and Workaholics.
