peopleofearthsmallLast week, TBS kicked off its new comedy People of Earth with a double-episode premiere. Journalist Ozzie Graham wrote an article about an alien abductee support group, but as he interviewed the participants, he started having memories of his own, realizing that he too had been abducted. He quit his job at Glint Enterprises and decided to stick with the group a little longer to learn more, getting a new job at the local Beacon Gazette. While the other participants each only had an encounter with a single species of alien, Ozzie seems to have met all three: a Gray, a Reptilian, and an Albino. In his memory, he saw the three aliens joining forces to stage a car accident to cover up his abduction. Ozzie’s former boss Jonathan (who is secretly a Reptilian) volunteers to fix things, but his superiors send another Reptilian, Kurt, to clean up the situation. However, Kurt is accidentally run over by support group leader Gina, who drove off unaware of what she did. Then we saw a local cop covering up the dead alien body.

I’m enjoying this show on many levels. First there’s the humor with the support group. There are a lot of crazy characters, and their interactions, stories and how they try to out-do each other is a lot of fun. Second, the bickering aliens are hilarious, especially Jeff the Grey. And finally, I’m really interested in the ongoing mystery of what these aliens want, who knows about them, and if there are any other people who are secretly aliens. I’m really digging the creative new direction TBS has taken with its comedies over the last year. This is another highly entertaining one!

On tonight’s episode, “Acceptance,” Ozzie helps Richard face his broken marriage; Yvonne and Gerry investigate a mysterious cover up; Jonathan Walsh delivers some upsetting news to Jeff and Don.

Laugh along with these new alien abductees tonight on TBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Man With a Plan, Gotham, Lucifer, Supergirl, and Jane the Virgin.

scorpion117smallOne of the shows my daughter and I like to watch together is Scorpion, because she loves watching the way these people interact in social circles and she adores Sylvester. Last week’s episode, where we saw the team in a cave trying to save a bat colony, was very intriguing and kept us on the edge of our seats. She loved watching Sylvester freak out over the bats and how he thought he had rabies too after one bite. I thought Happy babysitting Ralph while he was on a sugar high was hilarious and also showed that Happy is going to be a great mom once she gets there. I’m hoping that this immigration issue with Walter and Happy’s fake marriage goes away quickly, because I find the storyline to be a little boring overall and want to see more forward momentum for the Happy and Doc relationship.

On tonight’s episode, “We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Vote,” on Election Day, as democracy hangs in the balance, Team Scorpion is called on when someone tries to throw the U.S. presidential election into chaos.

Find out if Scorpion can save Election Day tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching Lucifer, The Voice, Kevin Can Wait, Man With a Plan, and Saturday Night Live Special.

2brokegirls117smallThe funniest part of last week’s 2 Broke Girls for me was that Sophie was basically hoarding her baby, even from Oleg. It’s something I could totally see a new mother doing…except Sophie was taking it to the next level, Sophie-style. It’s still so over-the-top, like the way she handles the carriage/stroller so roughly, the way they mention the baby wearing makeup, etc. But that’s what this show does best, being over-the-top. LOL Also last week, Caroline was asked to speak at her alma mater, and she took Max along. Max wanted nothing more than to party and get Caroline to loosen up and party with her…which Caroline did, almost to the point that she missed her speech. In the end, it worked out for the both.

I know this show is ridiculous. Like I mentioned, it’s over-the-top. But that’s what makes it fun for me. I can turn off any expectation of reality and just enjoy the silliness and stupidity.

On tonight’s episode, “And the Rom-Commie,” Earl becomes concerned he may not be able to keep up when his long-lost sweetheart, Pilar (guest star Telma Hopkins), visits from Cuba, and wants him to take her sightseeing around the country. Also, Max must decide whether it’s time to take her texting relationship with Randy to the next level. Ed Quinn also guest stars.

Find out what decision Max makes regarding Randy tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Cake Wars, Kevin Can Wait, Man With a Plan, Scorpion, & Conviction.
