If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/16/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Freeform’s latest original series, Beyond, centers around a young man named Holden, who awakes from a 12-year coma to discover that he has some unusual abilities and finds himself at the center of a dangerous conspiracy. I’ve been watching week to week, but for those who want to binge all 8 episodes, the network made the entire season available on On Demand shortly after the premiere. When we last left off, Holden discovered that his parents had actually been separated and were only pretending to be together for his sake, and his younger brother headed back to college. Willa convinced Holden to re-enter the Realm and was helping to bring back his memories of this magical place where he “lived” with her during the years he was in a coma. Meanwhile, the mysterious man in the yellow jacket abducted Kevin for questioning and seemingly executed him afterwards. At the end of last week’s episode, Kevin’s brother – who was the one who originally put Holden in a coma – grabbed Holden at gunpoint, demanding to know where his brother was.

Who is this man in the yellow jacket who’s living a double life, what’s his agenda, and what did he want with Kevin? (I assume we’ll find out tonight, based on the episode title!) Is Kevin dead, and does his brother know about the Realm? Was putting Holden into a coma truly an accident, or was there more to it? Is Willa hiding something about why she and her grandfather need Holden to go back in? I’m enjoying the mystery so far, and the series has already been renewed for a second season, so there will be even more time for all of these questions to be properly answered.

On tonight’s episode, “The Man in the Yellow Jacket,” Holden seeks intel about the man who’s after him by teaming up with a former adversary. Meanwhile, the Matthews feel uncomfortable with Jeff’s presence in their lives; Luke struggles to find his place in the family; Willa helps another comatose patient; and Holden asks a girl out for the first time.

See if they can find the man in the yellow jacket tonight on Freeform at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Fan, Man With a Plan, The Celebrity Apprentice, Timeless, Gotham, and Lucifer.

Jenny’s Choice

My pick tonight is the final two episodes of Big Fan. This show’s a lot of fun. I love that fans go up against one another in order to get the chance to go up against the celebrity him or herself. Matthew McConaughey was great. Liked Aaron Rodgers too. I’m not looking forward to the first episode tonight, but the second (the winter finale)… That should be more than fun!

On tonight’s first episode, “Kim Kardashian West,” among Kim Kardashian West’s millions of followers around the world, three are chosen to battle it out to be crowned her #1 super fan.

Then on the second episode, “Kristen Bell,” actress Kristen Bell meets some of her biggest fans, but only one will win a Frozen experience of a lifetime.

Catch all the fun tonight on ABC at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Kevin Can Wait, Kids Baking Championship, Man With a Plan, 2 Broke Girls, Cake Wars, & Scorpion.
