Kyle’s Choice
Tonight, AMC’s sci-fi drama, Humans, returns for a second season. The series is set in the near future, where human-like robots known as synths have become a regular part of society, almost like a standard household appliance. In the first season, some of these synths had become sentient and now had the ability to think and feel like humans. Leo Elster, the son of the original creator of the synths – and part synth himself – had been tracking down these conscious synths to protect them from those eager to tear them apart to discover what makes them tick. The Hawkins family, who had purchased one of these synths to help out with housework, found themselves swept up in the middle of the action and drama. By the end of the season, Leo’s group of sentient synths interfaced with one another in order to share their individual pieces of the sentient code. Leo saved the completed code to a hard drive and considered publishing it so that all synths round the world would have the choice to become conscious, but he ultimately decided to hold off. However, synth Niska secretly made her own backup of the code before heading off to some unknown destination to live on her own.
What does Niska plan to do with this code? Will she unleash it to awaken every synth around the globe? Will Leo ever find a safe haven for Mia and the others? And who is still hunting them down to discover this “flaw” in the code? Will Laura ever forgive her husband Joe for sleeping with their synth, Mia, and how will the Hawkins family fit into the larger story of the second season?
This series was in my top ten for 2015, and I’m really happy to finally see it back for a second season! Not only does it provide an interesting story, some tense moments, and some great drama, but there is also this very interesting layer to the show that explores what actually makes someone human. The acting is superb – the people playing the synths are amazing at making these characters look so lifeless and robotic as needed!
On tonight’s premiere, “Episode 1,” Niska faces a critical decision, while Mia, Leo, and Max remain in hiding. Meanwhile, the Hawkins struggle to move on; and Dr. Athena Morrow gets a surprise visitor.

Jenny’s Choice
I’m still enjoying Scorpion, although like Megan, I’m getting tired of the Paige/Walter story line. If the producers/writers aren’t careful, they’re going to make Walter so unlikeable that no one will root for him, let alone him and Paige. I still have hopes, but… As for the rest, I still enjoy the cases, and I love Happy/Toby, Sylvester’s political story, and Cabe and his new lady. And last week was pretty darn funny, between Toby’s “drunken sailor†routine (especially the swinging rescue of Walter! LOL), the echoes of Sharknado and Jaws, and the fact that to save Paige & Walter, they forfeited their pay and got chocolate coins instead.
Tonight should be a lot of fun. Chess and this team kind of go hand in hand. I can’t wait to see how hard Walt and Sly slay their opponents.
On tonight’s episode, “Keep it in Check, Mate,†Walter and Sylvester enter an international chess competition under cover on foreign soil for Team Scorpion in order to extricate a U.S. spy before her identity is exposed.

Megan’s Choice
APB premiered last week, and while I was a little wary of yet another crime drama, I have to admit I actually enjoyed it. The mixture of exciting technology and an amusing cast may just be what is needed to make this new show survive. We were introduced to Gideon, a rich tech mogul who is out to get justice for the murder of his best friend. I really love the chemistry between Gideon and the female cop, Murphy. They are going to be a great team, with his brains and her sarcasm.
On tonight’s episode, “Personal Matters,” when Gideon accompanies Murphy on a ride-along to see the impact of his reforms, they run into a pharmacy robbery that results in the injury of a child. Gideon vows to get involved and tests out a new drone, but after that fails, he is inspired by an unlikely source to create new electric motorcycles to help find the suspects. Meanwhile, Murphy is disturbed when she hears that someone close to her is the leader of a new project that could take down Gideon’s plans for the 13th District.
To see if Gideon manages to fix everything before they lose the project completely, tune in to FOX at 9/8c.
