Tonight, the TBS comedy, The Detour, returns for a second season. The first season was very similar to National Lampoon’s Vacation – the Parker family was on a road trip to Florida under the guise of a family vacation, but patriarch Nate was really on a mission to expose his employer’s deadly plans. Everything that could have gone wrong during the trip did go wrong…and so much more! Nate ended up missing his whistle-blowing opportunity, but it actually worked out for the better, as he was wrong and would have just ended up looking like a fool. However, Nate did learn that partner Robin had some major secret that she was hiding, and twins Delilah and Jared learned that their parents weren’t actually married.

The second season picks up a short time later. Nate is still out of a job, and the family is living in a trailer park in Syracuse. However, a new job opportunity in New York City will send the family on a whole new series of misadventures and Robin to a city that holds many secrets she’s been trying to hide. As I watched the first half of tonight’s double-episode premiere, I was quickly reminded of how much I missed this show! I was laughing out loud throughout. I just love this show’s irreverent humor that doesn’t worry about being politically correct. I am so excited to see what craziness awaits the Parkers in New York City!

On tonight’s first episode, “The City,” Nate is offered a new job in New York City, triggering the family’s move from Syracuse to the Big Apple. Then, in “The Club,” Robin’s ex lures her back to her wild side by visiting a club from their past, sparking Nate’s jealousy in the process. Meanwhile, the kids meet Nate’s new boss.

Find out how the move to NYC goes for the Parkers tonight on TBS starting at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Middle, American Housewife, Fresh Off the Boat, The Real O’Neals, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Wall, This Is Us, New Girl, The Mick, Bones, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Switched at Birth, Face Off, Teachers, and Chrisley Knows Best.

Last week’s Bones was horrendously sad. The man coming after Booth killed several more people. The team figured out who the killer was, but it was too late. The creep showed up at the FBI, acting as if he wanted to just talk to Booth, but he was there to watch Booth’s reaction when he learned his children had been killed. Thankfully, Christine and Hank were safe. Booth and Bones had sent Max and the kids and some FBI agents to a safe house while they continued to search for evidence to find the killer. Unfortunately, Max’s pace maker was connected to his doctor’s office, which meant the killer’s hired guns were able to track him. He had time to put the kids in the basement so they couldn’t hear or see anything, but one of the two agents was killed, the other agent shot, and Max was shot as well. He later died in the hospital, right after talking to Bones about a great memory from her childhood. So they caught the bad guy, but Brennan lost her father, and that isn’t going to bode well for her and Booth, at least for the time being.

Including tonight, there are only five episodes left in the series. I have no doubt that it will end on a happy note for Booth and Bones. I read something just the other day that said Hart Hanson is a big believer in the “ride off into the sunset” endings and happily-ever-afters, and the show runners want to honor him (and, I would assume, the fans) by giving Booth & Brennan the happy ending they (and we!) deserve. But that doesn’t mean these last five episodes won’t have their bumps and bruises, starting tonight, when Brennan is grieving her father’s death and dealing with the return of a former flame! (Eddie McClintock, it’s time you got your own show again! We want to see you lead something, ASAP!)

On tonight’s episode, “The Grief and the Girl,” a recent loss creates a rift between Booth and Brennan, as they deal with their grief in different ways. Meanwhile, an old flame from Brennan’s past comes to visit. Eddie McClintock guest stars as Tim Sullivan (Sully).

See how Sully’s return and Brennan’s grief affects her relationship with Booth tonight on FOX at 9:01/8:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, NCIS, American Housewife, Chicago Fire, Chopped, & NCIS: New Orleans.

Bull is by far one of the smartest procedurals on television at the moment. The writing is simply fantastic. Last week’s episode followed a military intelligence agent who leaked information to an outside source, and she was facing charges of espionage. Bull knew she leaked the information in an attempt to save lives. Instead, some soldiers got killed. Benny ended up arrested after he shared some secret information in open court in order to protect his client. In the end, the intelligence agent only got one year for her leaking the files, and Benny got released, but it was definitely a nail biter. I loved the way Benny and Bull talked at the end, because it gave us a glance into their deep friendship.

On tonight’s episode, “What’s Your Number?” when Bull assists the U.S. Attorney’s office with a manslaughter trial against a real-estate magnate, Andrew Withrow, he finds himself once again opposing Diana Lindsay, his romantic rival. As the case gets underway, Bull’s penchant for winning goes into overdrive when he realizes the defendant is a clinical sociopath determined to use Diana to antagonize him during the proceedings.

To see how far Bull’s flirting goes with Diana, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching NCIS: New Orleans, The Mick, NCIS, Chicago Fire, and Bones.
