[Just a side note before you read my pick for tonight… This episode touches on a hot-button issue, especially right now, after the horrific attack in Manchester a couple of days ago. My thoughts and prayers are going out to all those affected, in Manchester and around the world.]

There are some story lines that bother me more than others. Last week’s Law & Order: SVU was one of those. Christians are often portrayed as crazy, religious zealots, and this was one of those cases. A group of young church-goers was visiting New York, and one of the young women met up with an old friend she hadn’t seen since she’d moved to NYC. That friend was a lesbian, and the church girl was attracted to her, although her parents, church leader, and other members of the group did their damnedest to convince her otherwise. It went so far that another member raped her, although he (& his lawyer & the victim’s family & the other church group members) claimed that it was curative intercourse – supposed to help bring her back to God and away from homosexual thoughts. Even though she told him no at the time, they claim she wanted it. The poor girl was being pulled in so many different directions and was so confused. And even though Lucas was the one who raped her, I’m not so sure he’s not just as confused and blindfolded to the true bad guy, the church leader, who had everyone snowed. They finally decided to go after the reverend. Lucas admitted to having been caught with a boy by the reverend, and then they figured out the revered was paying boys like Lucas for the “curative intercourse.” It just… Argh. In the end, the reverend pled guilty to stop them from calling in the Feds, who would seize all his and his church’s money.

So from one strong story to another… Tonight’s episodes focus on Muslims and deportation and hate crimes. From the frying pan into the fire, I guess. LOL They’re ending the season with a bang, that’s for sure! Will everyone survive, and how will their friendships and working relationships fare?

On tonight’s first episode, “American Dream,” a hate crime against a Muslim family results in the death of their daughter. When a crucial witness in the case is deported, Barba is forced to drop the charges against a suspect, and tensions rise between communities on opposing sides of the case.

Then on the season finale, “Sanctuary,” the unexpected release of a suspect in a hate crime case leaves Benson and Barba caught between two families seeking justice for their loved ones. As public protests escalate to violence, Benson goes to desperate lengths to make an arrest.

To see what lengths Benson goes to tonight, tune in to NBC starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Bakers vs Fakers & Cooks vs Cons.

Tonight on The CW, Arrow season five reaches its explosive finale, which will brings us full circle to the island on which it all began for Oliver: Lian Yu. It will bring resolution to this season’s major arc as well as the series-spanning arcs that deal with this mysterious island where Arrow learned to string his bow ten years ago. Through every season of the show, the current storyline has been underlined by one that takes place 5 years prior. Now that the season is at the end of its fifth year, the gimmick has to expire, so what a fitting a way to go.

Last week, we saw a drawing of sides occur in preparation for what will be an all-out war between two factions of deadly assassins dressed in spandex & leather. At the head of the two squads are Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, and his season five nemesis, Prometheus né Adrian Chase. For months Chase worked alongside Oliver in his role as an aide to the mayor, that other hat the Arrow wears when the hood has been slid off. Since his identity was revealed, the rivalry has escalated quickly.

Once again, fate has twisted to put Malcolm Merlyn, one of Arrow’s oldest on-again-off again enemies, back on the same side, fighting to rescue Thea. Another former enemy that he has appealed to is Deathstroke, who still resides on the remote isle of Lian Yu. Following through further on this role-reversal theme in the choosing of sides Chase has recruited former Team Arrow member Artemis, as well as the Earth-2 version of Oliver’s slain lover Laurel Lance. In her E2 version, she is the ruthless villain Black Siren.

There are more “special guest appearances” promised for tonight. This and the recent rekindling of the Olicity romance have me warming up my popcorn already. My long-standing position on this show has been that I watch it for Felicity Smoak, and that they could kill off Oliver if they wanted. Just give me more Felicity! I’ve also got my toes crossed, hoping for the return of my favorite season five Arrow comrade: Ragman. But since he lost his powers, we’ve barely seen him. Well, here’s hoping!

On tonight’s episode, “Lian Yu,” the battle between Oliver and Adrian Chase culminates in a final epic battle on Lian Yu. After recent events, Oliver decides to recruit a group of unlikely allies – Slade (guest star Manu Bennett), Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law), Merlyn, and Digger Harkness (guest star Nick. E. Tarabay) – to defeat Chase. However, Chase has his own army – Black Siren (guest star Katie Cassidy), Evelyn Sharp (guest star Madison McLaughlin), and Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig) – and the forces collide in an explosive season finale.

See which side comes out the winner tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I will also be watching the season finale of Archer.

Tonight, the “Game Changers” season of Survivor comes to an end with a 2-hour finale followed by a live 1-hour reveal/reunion special. This has been one crazy season, especially where Tribal Councils are involved. I’ve never seen the kind of behavior like we’ve seen this season, where the contestants are constantly getting up and whispering into each other’s ears, making plans and strategies at the ceremony, right in front of one another.

Last week opened with Sarah receiving the Legacy Advantage that Sierra had willed to her. Then it was time for the immunity challenge, where Aubry managed to finish the task first and guarantee her safety. Afterwards, there was lots of scrambling, and at the vote Andrea became the thirteenth person sent packing/sixth member of the jury. Brad won the next immunity challenge, and the scrambling once again commenced. Sarah gave Cirie her advantage to hold on to as a sign of trust, while Cirie tried to convince Tai that people were voting for him, in hopes of flushing out his potential idol. At the Tribal ceremony, Cirie tried to use Sarah’s advantage to steal Sarah’s own vote (to prevent her from doing something that would hurt both of them), but Sarah then had to explain that Cirie wasn’t allowed to use the advantage – that it was non-transferable. At that point, Sarah decided to just use it herself to steal Tai’s vote. For some reason, Tai still didn’t feel the need to use one of his idols but ended up being safe anyway, as Michaela was sent home.

Now we are down to the final 6 – Aubry, Brad, Cirie, Sarah, Troyzan, and Tai – and I have no idea who is going to win, nor do I really have any particular person I’m rooting for. This has been a wild season, and I look forward to tonight’s reunion special to hear the contestants reflect on the crazy events of the season!

On tonight’s finale, “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished,” the final immunity challenge is held and the jury votes for the winner, as Season 34 ends. Then, in “Reunion,” the winner is revealed as the castaways reunite to discuss the season.

Find out who wins this latest installment tonight on CBS starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Dirty Dancing, The 100, Fargo, and Archer.
