If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/25/17

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, FOX kicks off the new series Beat Shazam, a modern version of the classic Name That Tune game show. Actor/musician Jamie Foxx (Ray) hosts the series, which finds four teams of two trying to identify songs as quickly as humanly possible. Each round, the teams are presented with a choice between two music categories, and the faster they can name the songs, the more points they win. The team with the lowest score at the end of each round is eliminated. The last team remaining moves on to the final round, where they compete against the world’s best song-identifying app, Shazam – where “as fast as humanly possible” may not be quick enough! The series is executive-produced by Mark Burnett (Survivor, The Voice) and Jeff Apploff (Don’t Forget the Lyrics!).

This series looks like it will be a lot of fun, though I’m hoping there is a lot of 80s and 90s music, because I haven’t listened to the radio in years (too many podcasts and audiobooks to listen to!). I look forward to meeting tonight’s contestants and seeing which pair takes home the cash prize.

Don’t miss the premiere tonight on FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Amazing Race and Red Nose Day.

Jenny’s Choice

I don’t know about you, but I was a big fan of the original Love Connection, back in the early 80s to early 90s, hosted by Chuck Woolery. So when I read they were rebooting it, I rolled my eyes but was also excited. LOL In case you don’t know…the premise was basically a single man/woman got to choose from three other singles and pick one to go on a date with before the show was taped. If both thought it went well and the audience picked the same one before being introduced to whom the contestant chose, then the show would pay for a second date. It was silly, it was cheesy, but it was a lot of fun. And Chuck Woolery was always a fantastic host. How much of that will change, I don’t know for sure.

I have seen some of the first episode, so I know some of the “game play” has changed, and of course the set and everything has been updated to today’s style and technology. And the host of the new version is Andy Cohen (Watch What Happens: Live). He’s pretty good on that show, so I have a feeling he’ll do okay on here. He won’t be afraid to speak his mind, which is good! This is not going to be a serious, “let’s hope they fall in love” thing to watch. But I think it’ll be a good “I want to zone out and not have to think too hard at the end of the week” hour of television.

On tonight’s episode, “Don’t Go Bacon My Heart,” singles Robert Bacon and Sheena Nicole Williams try to find love on the series premiere.

Veg out in front of some fun TV tonight on FOX at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing American Ninja Warrior: Celebrity Ninja Warrior, Beat Shazam, Beat Bobby Flay, & Farmers’ Market Flip.
