TGIF! I am so happy this week is over. It’s been a busy and exhausting week, but good things did happen too. Anyways, enough about me and my sleepiness let’s look at the news.
It’s official, Kara DioGuardi will NOT be returning to American Idol this season. She had this to say about the situation, “I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol….I look forward to my next challenge.” I can’t say that I’m surprised, with Simon leaving an overhaul was needed. The only ones remaining are Randy Jackson and of course host Ryan Seacrest. Now who will replace her? Any ideas? Source

Happy hump day!
I cannot believe how quickly this summer is flying by. My baby girl is staring kindergarten in the fall, and I am so nervous about being away from her all day. I’m sure she’ll be fine, and I will be okay … eventually. Alright I will stop boring you with my mommy woes and get to some TV news.
Renee Felice Smith (), will be joining the cast of NCIS : Los Angeles, as Nell, a smart, tech savvy, intelligence analyst who will be helping Eric (Barrett Foa) in the tech center. I love the current vibe on NCIS: LA, so I really hope that this adds to that instead of messing it up. All that aside, who smells a future love hook up with the techs? Source

TGIF! I am looking forward to some rest and relaxing this weekend. The chances of that with my daughter running around are slim, but who knows?
Let’s get to some news.
After being let go from CSI: Miami, Eddie Cibrian has landed on his feet with multiple episodes on the new drama, Chase. The new NBC drama, will focus on a team of U.S. marshals that are searching for America’s top fugitives. Cibrian will be playing a bounty hunter in at least two episodes in October. Source

The TV world is buzzing with news today, so let’s skip the small talk and get straight to it!
Ellen DeGeneres will not be returning to American Idol next season as a judge. The comedian and talk-show host admits that, “while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings.” I never did feel like Ellen fit on the panel, because frankly she was too nice, but I did enjoy her humour. Nigel Lythgoe, who is more than likely returning as the executive producer of Idol next season, thinks they should go back to the three judge format, instead of replacing both Simon and Ellen. On the topic of Simon’s replacement, we are being told to hope for the big announcement to be made at the Monday press tour session. I, for one, would like to know who the big replacement is going to be, and my fingers are crossed for Harry Connick Jr. What are you thoughts on Ellen leaving and who should replace Simon Cowell? Sound off below. Source

I was honoured with the chance to speak with David Cook, season 7 American Idol winner, about his trip to Ethiopia and Idol Gives Back. Also on the call was Elizabeth Gore, the Executive Director of Global Partnerships and Nothing but Nets for the United Nations Foundations. David was actually still in Ethiopia while he spoke with us.
His trip was to a school in Ethiopia, and he was there to draw attention to the need for funding for schooling for the young women of Africa. Schooling is what helps these women avoid becoming another statistic, just another sex slave, or another death to AIDS. The call was an eye opener and made me feel blessed to live in North America where I’ve always been valued not in spite of being a woman but celebrated for the strength that being a woman is. I dare you to read this interview and not be moved, not only by the plight but by David’s experiences and his determination to make a difference. Idol Gives Back will air on FOX on April 21st, at 8 pm, don’t miss this opportunity to give back to the world. Now onto the interview. Continue reading →
