It’s another night of fun cooking shows for me, and first up is the season premiere of The Great American Baking Show on ABC. Last season was scrapped after the season premiere when judge Johnny Iuzzini came under fire for sexual harassment (unrelated to this show). Because of that, we missed out on watching this show last year. So it’s been almost a year now since we last saw it, and now we get to meet a new cast as well as a new host and judge!

Ayesha Curry won’t be back as host. Alongside Anthony “Spice” Adams will be Emma Bunton…otherwise known as Baby Spice in the Spice Girls group. And joining last season’s judge (& judge on The Great British Baking Show!) Paul Hollywood is fabulous pastry chef Sherry Yard, who also judged Halloween Baking Championship. I don’t know if I care about either of hosts – I don’t know them well enough yet to – but I really enjoy both judges, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they have up their sleeves for the bakers this season.

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Cake and Pastry Week,” it’s on your marks, get set, bake…slices of cake, and sweet and savory pastries.

Meet the contestants and new judge and host tonight on ABC starting at 9/8c.

Tonight, after three years, Psych returns to USA Network with Psych: The Movie! For eight seasons (and a musical) we followed the adventures of fake psychic detective Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his slightly more serious best friend Gus (Dulé Hill). As the series ended, it was finally time for Shawn and Gus to go their separate ways. Gus had found his dream job, and Shawn had moved to San Francisco, where girlfriend Juliet (Maggie Lawson) and Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) had already relocated. Shawn planned to open up a new detective agency, and to his surprise, Gus had quit his job and also headed to San Francisco. Shawn finally proposed to Juliet, but as he was handing her the ring, someone grabbed it and ran off.

So, what has happened in the three years since we last saw these characters? Did Juliet say yes? Are she and Shawn married? Are Shawn and Gus back to their old psychic detective tricks? Psych is one of my all-time favorite shows. I can re-watch episodes anytime and still laugh out loud. While TV is getting darker and grittier these days, this series was from USA Network’s lighter, blue sky programming era. It was so smartly written, with lots humor and fun pop culture references mixed in. The buddy relationship between Shawn and Gus is what all friendships should be like! I haven’t seen the film yet, so I’m just as excited as all the other Psych-O’s out there to see what this new adventure holds. I’m sure it’s going to be a hilarious, fun ride, and I hope this is just one of many Psych movies to come!

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, I got the opportunity to speak with the cast. They talked about what it was like returning to their characters, and they gave some hints as to what we can expect from tonight’s movie, including some of the amazing guest stars. You can find my videos from the press room at NoReruns.net. (http://www.noreruns.net/2017/08/15/psych-movie-press-room-san-diego-comic-con-2017/)

On tonight’s movie, after three years, the gang reunite when an assailant targets one of their own.

Catch up with Shawn & the gang tonight on USA Network at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Great American Baking Show, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Life in Pieces, Gotham, The Orville, Top Chef, Van Helsing, Ghost Wars, and Chrisley Knows Best.

NBC’s Superstore is always one of the highlights of my Thursday night TV watching. Last week it was Valentine’s Day at Cloud 9, and Amy and Glenn tried to play matchmaker for Myrtle, but their attempts to set her up with another elderly employee resulted in a sexual harassment investigation. Meanwhile, Garrett learned about Mateo’s secret relationship with Jeff and tried to push his jealousy over Sandra’s pretend relationship to the boiling point. And Jonah went undercover to help Dina catch a shoplifter, but he ended up falling for his mark. So Dina made sure to burn that potential relationship to the ground by pretending that Jonah was the deadbeat father to her children. But in the end, Jonah was back to joking and having a good time with Amy as the two cleared the store of its Valentine’s Day decorations.

Earlier this week, NBC announced the wonderful news that Superstore had been picked up for a third season. This series just keeps getting funnier and funnier – this ensemble cast just works so well together and has really found their groove. When I was watching the show last week, I couldn’t help but be reminded of The Office, when that show was really firing on all cylinders. I’m so happy there are plenty more crazy adventures to come for the Cloud 9 crew.

On tonight’s episode, “Super Hot Store,” angry tensions magnify when the store’s thermostat breaks, leaving the staffers miserably hot inside Cloud 9. Meanwhile, Dina and Garrett find a way to pass the time, and Cheyenne helps Glenn through an existential crisis as he tries to fix the heater.

See how Dina and Garrett occupy themselves tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, The Big Bang Theory, The Great Indoors, Life in Pieces, Training Day, Powerless, The Blacklist, MasterChef Junior, My Kitchen Rules, Riverdale, Top Chef, and Colony.

topchef2016smallIt took me a good handful of seasons to start watching Top Chef, but I haven’t missed any episode since, which means I’m excited that it’s back tonight for the start of season 14! This season starts off in Charleston, South Carolina, where eight new chefs join eight returning chefs to compete for the grand prize of $125,000 and the title of Top Chef. This season’s new chefs come from all over, from Portland, Oregon, to Florida and New York City. The returning chefs feature some big names, especially if you’re a fan of this show: Sam Talbot from Season 2; Casey Thompson from Season 3 & Season 8: All-Stars; Amanda Baumgarten from Season 7; Brooke Williamson, Sheldon Simeon, & John Tesar from Season 10; Shirley Chung from Season 11; & Katsuji Tanabe from Season 12.

My personal pick? I love Brooke, Shirley, & Katsuji, so…we’ll see how the newbies stack up against them! Also, I’m happy that Graham Elliot (former judge on MasterChef and competitor on Top Chef Masters) is joining Tom, Gail, and Padma, as well as all the great guest judges, Richard Blais, Michael Voltaggio, Hugh Acheson, & more.

On tonight’s episode, “Something Old, Something New,” the new chefs enter the kitchen first to cook as many dishes as possible in one hour using a whole chicken; the veterans square off to re-imagine shrimp and grits.

To see which chef gets taken out first, tune in to Bravo at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Big Bang Theory, Rosewood, The Great Indoors, Chopped, The Great American Baking Show, & Beat Bobby Flay.
