If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/20/12

Fall TV kicks into full gear next week, but we’ve been getting a lot of new and returning shows trickling back onto our TVs over the past couple of weeks. And tonight, we add the return of the NBC Thursday comedy lineup. This evening, I’ll be going with my dad to see a sneak preview of the new Kevin James comedy, Here Comes the Boom, but I’ll be hitting up the DVR afterwards. Read on to see what we recommend you check out tonight.

I can’t wait for the return of Parks and Recreation—it is my favorite of the Thursday comedies. At the end of last season, Leslie Knope won the City Counsel race, Ben was headed off to D.C., Ron took over the Parks and Rec department, and Andy wanted to become a cop. Tonight, we get to see where our favorite characters are at and who’s still working with whom. I hope they find a fun way to bring everyone back together and keep Leslie interacting with the rest of the gang.

In tonight’s episode, “Ms. Knope Goes to Washington,” Leslie and Andy are in Washington, D.C., visiting Ben and April at their new jobs. Back in Pawnee, Ron hosts a barbecue for the entire Parks and Recreation staff. Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), and Barbara Boxer (D-Cal.) guest star.

See what the characters are up to tonight on NBC at 9:31/8:31c. Learn where to find episodes online of Parks and Recreation @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording SNL Weekend Update Thursday, Up All Night, The Office, The X Factor, Glee, Wilfred, Awkward., Awkward. Aftershow. You’re Welcome., Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/13/12

Yesterday, the new iPhone was announced, so that means I’ll probably be staying up late tonight to try to place my pre-order as soon as it’s possible! Fall TV really started to pick up this week, and I’m already way behind—things are piling up on my TiVo. I can’t believe there’s still a couple more weeks of these trickling premieres before everything is in full swing—I don’t know how I’m going to watch it all! To help you decide what to watch tonight, here’s our recommendations.

Last night’s Big Brother was a super-sized episode. We got the Veto, Eviction, and Head of Household competition all in one night. Ian and Shane were still clueless about Dan’s plotting to get them out of the house. During the Veto competition, Ian was eliminated for not pressing his button, so he assisted Shane in order to ensure that Jenn would remain on the block. Shane won the veto, and for doing so, he also won a special trip outside the house. He chose Danielle as his guest to meet the Fierce Five and watch their gymnastics performance at the Tour of Champions. It was like a first date for the showmance couple, and Danielle fell more in love with him, worrying that she would need to choose between her alliances with Dan and Shane.

Shane, of course, used the veto to pull himself off the block, and Ian put up Danielle in his place. Jenn was voted out unanimously by Dan and Shane, becoming the fifth member of the jury. Danielle won the Head of Household competition and guaranteed herself a spot in the final three. I’m sure she is probably going to nominate Ian and Shane. Dan is willing to do anything and to throw anyone under the bus to make sure he wins. So I hope Ian can win the power of veto and keep himself in the game!

See all the reality drama tonight on CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Big Brother @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The X Factor, Glee, Wilfred, Awkward., Childrens Hospital, and NTSF:SD:SUV::.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 8/2/12

Well, it’s official. It’s summer (blazing hot outside still), and…my kid is a high school student. Eek! We got him registered, got his new high school ID and schedule, etc. He starts the new school year on the 13th, so he has just under two weeks left before things get really busy. Oddly enough, that is about the time we have left before the new fall TV season starts…and I am SO looking forward to it! I am loving the summer TV, but there’s some great stuff coming up. So what’s on tonight? Check out what we think you should be watching. 🙂

I won’t be saying a spoiler when I mention what a mixed bag of emotions last week’s Burn Notice. Anson is dead (slightly anticlimactic, but dead nonetheless), but unfortunately, when he was shot, so was Nate, Michael’s younger brother. When Michael realized it and rushed over in time to hold Nate as he died…that was emotional. When Michael had to tell his mom that Nate was dead? That wrecked me—completely. The brightest spot in the episode was the reunion between Michael and Fiona when she was released from prison.

How Nate’s death and Fiona’s time & subsequent release from prison will affect Michael and the gang through the rest of the season, I don’t know. I have a feeling Madeline may blame Michael—and maybe even Sam and Jesse—for Nate’s death since he was helping Michael at the time. I hope it draws them closer, but I just really think it’s going to do the opposite. 🙁

On tonight’s episode, “Reunion,” Sam agrees to help his girlfriend’s delinquent son, who’s in over his head with a ruthless loan shark. Meanwhile, Michael and Fiona reconnect as they search for the person who sabotaged his last mission. But in order to see the truth, Michael will need to look past his emotions first. Kristanna Loken, Seth Peterson, & Richard Burgi guest star.

Don’t miss it tonight on USA Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Burn Notice @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/DVRing the 2012 Olympics & Sullivan & Son.
