From 2002-2007, the Disney Channel animated action comedy-adventure series Kim Possible followed the adventures of teenage crime fighter Kim Possible, who balanced saving the world with dealing with the normal problems of a high school student. Helping her on her missions was clumsy best friend Ron Stoppable and his pet naked mole rat Rufus. Providing them with remote technical assistance was 10-year old computer genius Wade. While Team Possible came up against many different criminals, their biggest foe was super-villain Dr. Drakken and his sidekick Shego (who was often the more grounded and sensible of the pair).

Tonight, these characters return in a brand new live-action Disney Channel Original Movie, Kim Possible. In the film, Kim (Sadie Stanley) and Ron (Sean Giambrone, The Goldbergs) enter high school and become friends with Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson, OMG!). With Kim’s guidance, Athena transforms into the newest member of Team Possible and soon starts to eclipse Kim. When Drakken (Todd Stashwick, 12 Monkeys) and Shego (Taylor Ortega) resurface in Middleton, the team must stop them. The movie also stars Issac Ryan Brown (Raven’s Home) as Wade, Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother) as Kim’s mother Dr. Ann Possible, Patton Oswalt (A.P. Bio) as Professor Dementor, and Christy Carlson Romano (the original voice of Kim) as Poppy Blu.

I was a huge fan of the original animated series and can’t wait to check out tonight’s film to see how these characters translate into the real world.

Go back to your childhood (or in Jenny’s case, her son’s childhood…she sighed sadly…) tonight on Disney Channel at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Doom Patrol, The Umbrella Academy, Fresh Off the Boat, Proven Innocent, and Strike Back.

One of my favorite things about October is that it brings the Halloween-themed TV episodes, and tonight Halloween hits the FOX Sunday lineup. The Simpsons opens the night with its annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode, which features homages to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Split, and Jurassic Park. This was originally going to be my recommendation for the night, until I checked out tonight’s episode of Bob’s Burgers. I always enjoy this series, but the Halloween episodes especially so. No other show seems to bring me back to the fun times of trick-or-treating as a child like this one does. Though the Belcher kids always have far more creative costumes and always get mixed up in some crazy adventure during their annual quest for candy. Tonight’s may be my favorite Halloween episode since the show’s first one back in season 3. Besides the ingenious costumes that pop up throughout, Gene has some hilarious one-liners, and there’s a really fun side plot involving Bob and Teddy.

On tonight’s episode of The Simpsons, “Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” Homer wins an oyster-eating contest against the mythical Cthulhu; Springfield is overrun by plant body-snatchers; Lisa finally snaps; Mr. Burns opens a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades.

Then, in Bob’s Burgers, “Nightmare on Ocean Avenue Street,” the kids set out for their regular Halloween shenanigans, but when everyone’s candy bags start mysteriously disappearing, it’s up to Tina, Louise, and Gene to find the culprit.

To see the Halloween fun, tune in to FOX starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording God Friended Me, Family Guy, Supergirl, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, You, Camping, and Kidding.

If you grew up in or had kids in 2003-2007, chances are you watched That’s So Raven. The show starred Raven-Symone as a Raven Baxter, a teenager who had psychic powers and often froze, starring off into space, when she would get a vision. Her best friends on the show were Chelsea and Eddie, and we also regularly saw her parents, Victor and Tanya, and brother Corey. Now, Raven-Symone is back in Raven’s Home, which centers around adult Raven and Chelsea, both newly divorced with kids of their own. Much like Fuller House, the two women decide to come together to help raise their kids: Raven’s 11-year-old twins, Booker (Issac Ryan Brown, black-ish, Miles from Tomorrowland) and Nia (Navia Robinson, Being Mary Jane), and Chelsea’s 9-year-old son, Levi (Jason Maybaum, Superstore). Their house is also frequented by the twins’ best friend and neighbor, Tess (Sky Katz, America’s Got Talent). Raven’s still seeing the future, but so is her son, Booker, which should make for a fun family dynamic.

I haven’t heard anything about whether or not we’ll see Victor, Tanya, or Corey around, but I do know Eddie (Orlando Brown) won’t be showing up. I’ll be interested to see if the spinoff has as much fun with just Raven, Chelsea, and their kids as the original series did.

On tonight’s episode, “Baxter’s Back!” Booker enlists Levi and Tess to help him convince Nia of his newfound abilities to see into the future. Meanwhile, Raven’s latest vision involves a family disagreement that leads her to meddle in her kids’ life at school.

Catch up on Raven’s & Chelsea’s lives tonight on Disney Channel at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Great British Baking Show.

Tonight, Disney Channel launches the new series Tangled: The Series, a follow-up to the hit 2010 animated feature film, with Mandy Moore (This Is Us) & Zachary Levi (Chuck) reprising their roles as Rapunzel & Eugene Fitzherbert. A couple weeks ago, Disney Channel aired an hour-long TV movie, Tangled Before Ever After, which followed the events of the film and set things up for the series. Princess Rapunzel, who had become a short-haired brunette by the end of the film, was deeply in love with Eugene but wanted to take some time to enjoy their relationship before getting married. However, her parents still wanted to keep her locked up in the castle, safe from the dangers of the world. One night she sneaked out of the castle with her lady-in-waiting, Cassandra (Eden Espinosa), and came across some magical rock spires that caused her ridiculously long blonde hair to grow back, which Rapunzel desperately tried to hide from her parents. The next day, Rapunzel’s coronation was interrupted by the rogue Lady Kane, who was out for revenge on the royal family. However, Rapunzel was able to use her extremely versatile new hair to save the day, along with help from Eugene and his frying pan and Cassandra and her sword skills.

The series looks like it will be a lot of fun, following Rapunzel, Eugene, and Cassandra as they go on new adventures, meet new characters, and encounter mystical new threats. The 2D animation style of the series is very different from that of the original film, but I found it just as delightful. I had a great time revisiting these characters in the recent TV movie, and I look forward to seeing more stories set in this world.

On tonight’s premiere, “What the Hair?!” Rapunzel and Cassandra venture out to a wizard’s cottage to find out what happened to her hair.

Catch the fun tonight on Disney Channel at 7:30/6:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grimm & Sleepy Hollow.

hawaiifiveo107smallHawaii Five-0 is off to a strong, exciting start to the season. They’ve chased a bad guy all over town on foot, and then last week they worked with a British MI6 agent to find a terrorist looking to cause nuclear reactors across Europe to meltdown. Thankfully they stopped it JUST before it happened – and then followed the agent to find him about to kill the bad guy responsible for killing his wife with a terrorist bombing. I personally didn’t find it fair that someone else got to kill the guy, but they only shot him when he started to shoot at them, so… This week, Alicia Brown (Claire Forlani), the former FBI profiler Steve asked for help with the serial killer in the first episode of the season, is back, so it should be fun!

On tonight’s episode, “He Moho Hou (New Player),” when FBI Profiler Alicia Brown (Claire Forlani) finds a body in her bed, she is forced to join McGarrett in the hunt for the chess-piece killer. Also, Kono reconnects with a former surfing competitor (Kanya Sesser), who is now a disabled and homeless war vet. Elizabeth Rohm (Law & Order) also guest stars.

See if Alicia, Steve, and the team can catch the chess-piece killer tonight on CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Hell’s Kitchen, Last Man Standing, MacGyver, & Blue Bloods.
