iceage320smallTonight, FOX has both sides of Easter covered. Before the huge live musical event The Passion, FOX is airing the new animated special, Ice Age: The Great Egg-Scapade, which puts a prehistoric twist on the origins of the Easter bunny. Sid the Sloth (John Leguizamo) has decided to start a new egg-sitting business, but the locals are all too familiar with his unlucky past with eggs, and no one wants to be his customer. However, a newly-migrated and stressed-out single bird mother (Taraji P. Henson, Empire) and her neighbors, Condor Mom (Wendy Williams), Cholly Bear (Gabriel Iglesias), and Gladys Glypto (Lili Estefan), all decide to leave their eggs with Sid. Meanwhile, pirate bunny Squint (Seth Green, Family Guy) is back – the guys had smashed up his ship in Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, and he wants them to replace it. When they refuse, he sneaks in and takes the eggs as Sid is sleeping, and hides them. Needless to say the parents are furious, and Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary), and Sid are joined by Squint’s twin brother Clint (Blake Anderson, Workaholics) as they go on the world’s first Easter Egg Hunt to find the missing eggs – which Squint has painted to make them harder to find. Meanwhile, possums Eddie (Josh Peck, Grandfathered) and Crash (Seann William Scott) set out to make Peaches the first April Fool; and Scrat continues to seek out that elusive acorn.

If you’re a fan of the Ice Age films, this is a fun, holiday-themed addition to the franchise. All of your favorite characters are back, and they’ve even found several ways to weave in connections to the past films. Plus, during tonight’s special, viewers will get an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming, all-new animated feature film Ice Age: Collision Course, which hits theaters in July.

Go on an egg hunt tonight on FOX at 7:30/6:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Good Wife, The Family, Quantico, The Carmichael Show, Crowded, Hollywood Game Night, The Passion, and The Walking Dead.

playinghouse98smallTonight, the (too short) second season of Playing House comes to a close with a double-dose of episodes. Last week, Maggie and Emma headed to Lake Kimmewah to spend the weekend together at their childhood vacation spot. It was the annual Kimmewah Kup paddle boat race, and the girls planned to beat their old nemeses the Custerman twins (played by the Sklar brothers). However, Maggie got upset that Emma was distracted during their gals weekend, constantly texting and calling her boyfriend Rabbi Dan. And when Dan showed up at the cabin, things only got worse. But, as always, the girls talked it out — their friendship can overcome any hurdles!

All I can say is that I love this show. It always makes me laugh out loud, and the relationship between Maggie and Emma feels so natural and real. They make you wish you were part of their world. If you haven’t checked out this show, what are you waiting for?! You can really jump in with any episode and also catch up via On Demand. I really hope tonight’s episodes aren’t the last 2 episodes of the series…and that USA won’t make us wait until December again to find out if the show’s coming back!

On tonight’s first episode, “Officer of the Year,” Emma organizes a policeman’s ball with help from Maggie and Rabbi Dan; Mark doesn’t have a date. And then in “Celebrate Me Scones,” Maggie surprises Emma with tickets to a special concert; and an old friend returns.

Catch the last two episodes of the season tonight on USA Network at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Zoo, Hollywood Game Night, and Face Off.

Hollywood Game Night is one of my favorite primetime game shows, and I’m thrilled to see it returning to the lineup tonight. The hilarious Jane Lynch is back as host, and each week, 6 new celebrities will join two “normies” to battle it out in a series of fun games. This show is always a blast to watch as the celebrities let loose and just have fun.

Each season, the show does a great job of introducing fun new games while also bringing back many of our favorites, and this year is no different. In addition to the new games, the show is also changing up the final round this year, giving the winning player the assistance of two celebrities instead of just one.

On tonight’s episode, “Two Janes Are Better Than One,” season 3 kicks off with celebrity players John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Giada De Laurentiis, Zachary Quinto, and Jane Krakowski.

Check out the new games and returning favorites tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Zoo, Tyrant, Clipped, Chrisley Knows Best, Royal Pains, Scream, and Another Period.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/8/14

I was going to recommend the Surviving Jack season finale tonight (and I still think it’s worth checking out), but the axes have already started falling, and yesterday, FOX announced the death of Enlisted, Surviving Jack, Dads, and Rake. Tonight and tomorrow night, you can expect the rest of the cancellations and renewals to flood the internet. I really hope some of my favorite comedies survive! We’ve got some recommendations for you to check out tonight as you nervously await the fate of your favorite shows.

hollywoodgamenighttop102013asmallHollywood Game Night is always a hilarious hour of TV. I love how they have been constantly introducing new games throughout the season to keep the show fresh and entertaining. I also enjoy that I can rely on some of my favorite games returning over and over again. It always fun watching the mix of celebrities harass one another in jest during the lighthearted competition.

On tonight’s episode, “He Said, She Said,” host Jane Lynch welcomes celebrities John Legend, Andy Roddick, Donald Faison, Chrissy Teigen, Brooklyn Decker, and Sarah Chalke.

See the fun tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, The Millers, Bad Teacher, Elementary, Grey’s Anatomy, and Surviving Jack.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 4/17/14

Snow in April—that’s just crazy! At least all of yesterday’s dusting has already melted. The current TV season is starting to wind down a bit, with more and more shows airing their season finales. Tonight, there are four of them on the major networks. However, I’m sure there will be many other shows starting up next week that are eagerly waiting to take those free spots on your DVR.

thecrazyones417smallTonight is the one-hour season finale of The Crazy Ones. Last week, Simon had just started a relationship with a new woman named Lily (guest star Pam Dawber), and the two were really hitting it off. At the same time, Gordon’s love life was falling apart—his partner of over 20 years had decided to leave him due to his lack of spontaneity. Simon helped Gordon win back his partner, which culminated in Gordon singing a karaoke version of “Wrecking Ball,” but in the process, he ruined things with Lily. Meanwhile, Andrew and Zach managed to pawn the office pariah off on Sydney while they were coming up with a pitch for the Google Glass-like “Smart Specs.”

It was a lot of fun seeing Robin Williams and Pam Dawber reunited on-screen, and they even threw in a couple of fun Mork & Mindy references for the fans. I’ve really enjoyed this series—the cast is hilarious and work well together. I especially enjoy the outtakes they have at the end of each episode. I hope tonight’s episodes are not the last of the series, but the odds don’t sound too good, especially since a month ago, CBS announced renewals for all but 3 of their series, and this was one of the few left out.

On tonight’s first episode, “The Monster,” Simon’s team comes up with a radical way to save a library, and Gordon serves as the campaign’s reluctant poster boy. Then in “The Lighthouse,” the ad agency faces a buyout, and Simon’s ex-wife has the deciding vote. Marilu Henner guest stars.

Check out the final two episodes of the season (series?) tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Grey’s Anatomy, Community, Parks and Recreation, Hollywood Game Night, Parenthood, Surviving Jack, and Sirens.
