If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/14/14

So far, the finales this week have been taking a toll on everyone’s emotions around here, and I for one am nervous about tonight’s finales too. Let’s see what we’re recommending tonight.

Megan’s Choice

criminalminds514smallCriminal Minds left us on a huge cliffhanger last week with both Reid and Morgan getting shot. I was on the edge of my seat yelling at my TV, when my fiancé pointed out that maybe because we were left on a huge cliffhanger last week, maybe we’d get more closure this week. Yes, sometimes he is quite wise. I am so nervous to see what happens because they just shot two of my favorite characters, so I don’t know what’s going to happen. Last week’s case was surrounding prostitutes who were getting murdered violently, and it was a very creepy atmosphere the whole episode. Let’s hope they solve the case this week, but also that all of our favorite characters make it through the finale.

On tonight’s season finale, “Demons,” one BAU member’s life is in danger while another member recalls an upsetting secret from the past.

To see what secret comes out, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Chicago PD, Law & Order: SVU, Arrow, Modern Family, Suburgatory, The 100, Save My Bakery, and Kodiak.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/12/14

We went from over 70 degrees to mid-40s in a matter of hours. Crazy. But that means it’ll be a good night to curl up under a blanket and watch TV, and there’s plenty of that on tonight. Check out our recommendations to see what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

menatworksmallIt’s been a good season of Men at Work, even though Amy broke up with Neal when he proposed and Milo quit his job. Last week was hysterical. Gibbs was dating a woman who lived in the suburbs and even though Jude—the woman who took Milo’s place at Full Steam—warned him that dating a woman from the suburbs was dangerous, he went out to her place anyway, thinking he was finally going to get lucky. Instead, it turned out that she’d invited a lot of people over for a party…and they were pretty darn creepy. He felt like they were going to somehow turn him into a suburb zombie and keep him there forever. He ended up calling Jude to come pick him up.

On tonight’s first episode, “Jude Awakening,” Tyler attempts to ask Jude out on a date, but her past gets in the way. Worried that Gibbs is bottling up his emotions, Milo tries to get him to cry. The big source of Neal’s sexual anxiety is revealed. Then on the season finale, “Odd Milo Out,” Tyler and Jude try to keep their new relationship a secret. Milo, already feeling left out since quitting Full Steam, has his traditional movie night taken away from him. Gibbs is hurt when Neal finds a new apartment. PJ tells a paranoid Myron to expect big changes in the office.

See how the season ends tonight on TBS at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Psych, Mixology, CSI, Wahlburgers, & Chicago PD.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/7/13

I was away last weekend in New York City for the my college roommate’s wedding. The reception was at the same venue used for a wedding reception in the season one finale of Girls (or so I was told, several times—I never actually made it past the second episode). Since I got back, I’ve been madly trying to catch up on the stockpile of last week’s TV that I couldn’t catch up with over the weekend. At least this week has been fairly light! We’ve got some tips to help you decide between tonight’s slimmer-than-usual TV choices.

Kyle’s Choice

legit37smallLast week, I recommended Archer, so this week, I’m going to recommend its FX comedy partner, Legit. The series stars Jim Jefferies playing a version of himself—an Australian stand-up comic living in America, seeking more legitimacy in his life and career. Last week, Jim was turned down for the role of “hot guy” after he removed his shirt at the audition. He sought advice from Andy Dick, who gave him some acting tips and suggested he see a personal trainer to get in shape. However, Jim’s laziness quickly rubbed off on the trainer, who soon found himself completely out of shape.

Legit is a series that really surprised me. I had no idea what the show was going to be about when it first premiered, but I enjoyed the premise. While it started off a bit crass, it has developed into a really fun comedy with a lot of heart. I find myself really rooting for these characters!

On tonight’s episode, “Hoarders,” Jim arranges an intervention after discovering that Janice has become a hoarder.

To see if Jim can clean up Janice’s act, tune in to FX at 10:30/9:30c. Learn where to find episodes online of Legit @ TV.com.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Big Bang Theory, Community, 1600 Penn, Archer, Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell, King of the Nerds, and Nathan for You.
