If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/12/14

We went from over 70 degrees to mid-40s in a matter of hours. Crazy. But that means it’ll be a good night to curl up under a blanket and watch TV, and there’s plenty of that on tonight. Check out our recommendations to see what we think you should be watching.

Jenny’s Choice

menatworksmallIt’s been a good season of Men at Work, even though Amy broke up with Neal when he proposed and Milo quit his job. Last week was hysterical. Gibbs was dating a woman who lived in the suburbs and even though Jude—the woman who took Milo’s place at Full Steam—warned him that dating a woman from the suburbs was dangerous, he went out to her place anyway, thinking he was finally going to get lucky. Instead, it turned out that she’d invited a lot of people over for a party…and they were pretty darn creepy. He felt like they were going to somehow turn him into a suburb zombie and keep him there forever. He ended up calling Jude to come pick him up.

On tonight’s first episode, “Jude Awakening,” Tyler attempts to ask Jude out on a date, but her past gets in the way. Worried that Gibbs is bottling up his emotions, Milo tries to get him to cry. The big source of Neal’s sexual anxiety is revealed. Then on the season finale, “Odd Milo Out,” Tyler and Jude try to keep their new relationship a secret. Milo, already feeling left out since quitting Full Steam, has his traditional movie night taken away from him. Gibbs is hurt when Neal finds a new apartment. PJ tells a paranoid Myron to expect big changes in the office.

See how the season ends tonight on TBS at 10/9c & 10:30/9:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Psych, Mixology, CSI, Wahlburgers, & Chicago PD.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/5/14

Thank goodness it’s Wednesday, because that means we’re halfway through the week—and it’s been a long one, so I’m already ready for the weekend. There’s been some great TV on this week, though, so that’s a good thing. The good TV continues tonight, so check out our recommendations. 🙂

menatwork35smallLast week’s Men at Work was great. The guys tried to help Neal make contact with a woman after meeting her in a bar—and promptly letting her go after having a major flirting moment with her. They found out she was going to “Molly’s” party, but they ended up at two different parties—both of which turned out to involve molly…otherwise known as extacy. Without realizing it, the guys all ingested some drugs of one kind or another: extacy & marijuana. It was so much fun watching how out of it they were. In the end, Neal met another girl at the party, and they really hit it off. Here’s to hoping they’ll be good for a while. Neal’s too sweet to be as sad as he was.

On tonight’s episode, “Suburban Gibbs,” Jude warns Gibbs that dating a girl from the suburbs is more dangerous than it seems. Tyler and Milo’s friendship is tested when Tyler offers to cover Milo’s share of the rent. It’s a Las Vegas reunion for James Lesure, as Molly Sims is guest starring!

See why Gibbs could be in trouble tonight on TBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Melissa & Joey, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Modern Family, Psych, Mixology, CSI, Chicago PD, & Wahlburgers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/19/14

The Olympics have been exciting to watch, but I am definitely missing our regular schedule of shows. Tonight has a few new episodes that are just begging you to watch, so put down your patriotic pom-poms and give primetime TV a visit!

Megan’s Choice

criminalminds219smallI was really happy when I saw that Criminal Minds had a new episode this week, because two weeks in a row without one is a dismal thought. The last new episode finally answered some of our questions about the connection between JJ and Cruz. We learned that JJ and Cruz were part of a team that was formed to find Bin Laden and that her team was attacked by an insider. The translator Askari is behind kidnapping JJ and Cruz, but it is brought to light that another officer, Hastings, was also a traitor. The team eventually rescues Cruz and JJ, but not before both are injured and dragged through some painful memories. It was really nice to see Emily back again and all the team working together. It was a stellar episode. I’m really looking forward to more in-depth story arcs like we’ve seen this season, because those are by far my favorite moments.

On tonight’s episode, “Mr. & Mrs. Anderson,” the team looks for a pair of killers working together; Garcia and Morgan and their significant others celebrate Valentine’s Day.

To see if the team can catch this UnSub in time, tune in to CBS at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching Super Fun Night, CSI, American Idol, Opposite Worlds, and Wahlburgers.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/29/14

I hope you all are staying warm! It’s freezing across the country & Canada—unless you live in Florida, in which case… Pfffft! *laugh* I know I’m not the only one ready for Old Man Winter to go away and usher in spring, so to console us, here’s what we’re recommending for TV tonight. 🙂

chicagopd129smallI’m really enjoying Chicago PD still. I love having Sophia Bush back on my TV each week, and I really love Jon Seda’s Antonio & Jesse Lee Sofer’s Jay. Last week, the squad was tracking down the people who were bring cop killer bullets and weapons into the country. I loved watching them get the wife to tell the truth, and then Olinsky going in the car with the bad guys and having to keep talking his way out of trouble was great. I’m worried about Ruzek and the effects of the shooting from a couple of weeks ago. And what’s up with Halstead’s confrontation with the creepy young guy and his father? What happened between the kid and the little girl Halstead mentioned? (Who I’m guessing was maybe his sister?) I can’t wait to find out more about that story…

The one thing I’m disappointed about is that on their sister show, Chicago Fire, Severide’s sister was kidnapped because Severide humiliated the guy who had come to beat up or kill the dude at the firehouse after the dude’s brother drove drunk and hit the light pole, severly injuring the guy’s cousin. We got a few mentions of it in that same week’s episode of Chicago PD, but they couldn’t do anything because it hadn’t been 48 hours and there’d been no proof that she’d been kidnapped and no demands made. This week, Fire was preempted for the President’s speech, so we get no resolution to that story line yet…and I don’t know if we’ll hear about it at all tonight on PD.

On tonight’s episode, “Now Is Always Temporary,” more is learned about Halstead’s dislike of the Rodiger family, and it’s family relationships all around as Olinsky shows a paternal side with his daughter Lexi (guest star Alina Taber) in an attempt to protect her and as Voight’s trying to help his son who has recently been released from jail. Meanwhile the Intelligence Unit investigates a counterfeiting operation after discovering some high end cloth-like paper. Sergeant Platt (guest star Amy Morton) sends Atwater and Burgess to arrest a hoarder where they discover more than just clutter.

Find out what they find tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/15/14

Last Wednesday, I got my new laptop. (Which is great, btw!) Now, 6 days later, my now-16yo got his first laptop. He got money for birthday & Christmas, and between that and money he’s saved, he had enough to pay the majority of it. We kicked in a little as part of his birthday present. So that’s been our night…setting it all up. But enough about my life… Here’s what we’re recommending on a great night of television!

Jenny’s Choice #1

meljoey115smallTonight is the winter premiere for ABC Family’s Melissa & Joey. I’m SO excited for the 2nd half of this season. On the last episode (not counting the Christmas ep!), Mel, Joe, & the kids were in New Jersey, visiting Joe’s family. Mel & Joe ended up spending a…romantic night together, and then Mel kind of ran scared, leaving Joe and the kids to get home together on their own. Lennox and Ryder convinced him to go after her, so he packed them up and they left. When they arrived home, Austin was there with Mel, wanting to give their relationship another try. For Mel and Joe shippers (like myself—surprise! 😉 ), it was killer. But I have faith (& I won’t spoil and say why! LOL).

On tonight’s episode, “A Decent Proposal,” in picking up where the summer cliff-hanger left off, Joe rushes home to tell Mel that he has feelings for her after their romantic night together in New Jersey. When he arrives, he’s shocked to find Austin (guest star Trevor Donovan) has shown up and wants to give his relationship with Mel another try. Deciding he can’t stay and watch them fall in love all over again, Joe quits. Meanwhile, Lennox plots to get Joe and Mel together, and Ryder gets sick from his own cooking.

Find out if Mel makes a decision regarding her love life tonight on ABC Family at 8/7c.
