I can’t believe how busy last week was and this week is for TV! To help you pick, we’re here to give you our recommendations, so read on. 🙂
My pick tonight is Major Crimes. I’m really, really enjoying this season. Last week was exceptional, but pushed a LOT of buttons for me. A foreign man was found murdered in a hotel room, and the team learned that a diplomat’s daughter was in an arranged marriage to the man. The diplomat was an abusive asshole who was forcing his newly graduated, eighteen-year-old daughter into the relationship. In the end, though, it was the daughter’s boyfriend who killed the man, and she turned on him basically to save her life. Because she chose to testify against him in exchange for asylum, that meant her father — who attacked her there in the police station! — couldn’t force her into another marriage and he couldn’t continue to abuse her. In the end, I think he would have ended up killing her, so I believe it truly saved her life. In the end, Rusty had some big pieces of the episode, though. Not only did he talk to the girl and help her make the decision, but he finally came out as gay to the squad…not that any of them didn’t know. They handled it well, making more of a big deal about Sykes dating Lt. Cooper, so Rusty knew that they weren’t bothered by it. And when he talked directly to Provenza out in the hallway, it nearly made me tear up. Provenza is an older man, so the topic — sex & relationships in general, but especially a same-sex relationship — is an uncomfortable one. He did the best he could to reassure Rusty that it wouldn’t change their relationship. It was really touching.
On tonight’s episode, “Jane Doe #38,” after finding a young runaway murdered and thrown in a trashcan, the Major Crimes unit is led on a long, puzzling hunt to find the deceased girl’s killer and her identity. Meanwhile Raydor consults her husband (guest star Tom Berenger) about a big proposition she has for Rusty.
Find out what proposition Raydor has for Rusty and if they can find the poor girl’s killer tonight on TNT at 9/8c.
I’ll also be watching/DVRing MasterChef, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, American Ninja Warrior, Longmire, & Murder in the First.
