thewalkingdead43smallTonight, the sixth season of AMC’s The Walking Dead comes to a close with a special 90-minute finale, and it’s likely that one or more major character isn’t going to survive the night. Last week, Carol ran off in the middle of the night and ended up crossing paths with another group of Negan’s men. She was able to escape thanks to putting on her downtrodden weak persona…and the fact that she had a hidden machine gun she had sewn into the sleeve of her jacket. Meanwhile, when the rest of the group learned about Carol’s disappearance, they split up into search parties, while Daryl headed off on his own to find and kill Dwight. Rick and Morgan thought they were tracking Carol, but it ended up just being a walker that resembled her, so they headed back to Alexandria, where Maggie (with a new short haircut) started having extreme stomach pains. Elsewhere, Dwight managed to capture Glenn and Michonne and used them as bait to set a trap for Daryl, which worked. The episode ended with Dwight shooting Daryl and the camera view getting covered in blood. Is Daryl dead?!

I think it’s highly unlikely that Daryl is actually dead (yet) and that all that blood we saw was from some sort of shoulder wound rather than a head shot. However, that still doesn’t put our gang out of danger! Will Dwight take his captives to Negan? Will be finally see Negan, and if so, what’s his style of justice like? Also, what happened to Carol after she got away? Is Maggie in labor, or is she losing the baby? And is her situation life-threatening? It should be an exciting night, and I’m just hoping all of my favorite characters survive!

On tonight’s finale, “Last Day on Earth,” Rick and the group must go outside the walls to save one of their own, but what they experience on the road will change their lives forever.

Find out who lives or dies tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Family, Quantico, The Carmichael Show, The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, The Last Man on Earth, Talking Dead, and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

thefamily33smallI’ve been looking forward to ABC’s new mystery/drama/thriller The Family ever since I watched the pilot last summer. Claire Warren’s (Joan Allen, The Killing) political career was just starting to take off when her son Adam went missing and was presumed dead. Ten years later, the Warrens – father John (Rupert Graves, Sherlock), son Danny (Zach Gilford, The Mob Doctor), and daughter Willa (Alison Pill, The Newsroom) – seem to have finally accepted the tragic events, until a young man claiming to be Adam (Liam James, The Killing) arrives at their door. This reunion reopens old wounds and raises new questions. Is this young man really who he says he is? Where has he been all this time? Who was responsible for his disappearance? Was the Warrens’ neighbor Hank (Andrew McCarthy, Lipstick Jungle), who was coerced into confessing to the crime, really responsible? Sergeant Nina Meyer (Margot Bingham, Matador) is the person trying to answer those questions. The cast also includes Floriana Lima (Allegiance) as Bridey, Madeleine Arthur (The Tomorrow People) as Young Willa, and Rarmian Newton (Dance Academy) as Young Danny.

I really enjoyed tonight’s premiere, which has a great cast and sets up an interesting mystery and character drama. I like how the series jumps back and forth between the two decades as this mystery unfolds, slowly revealing details of what happened in the past, which raise even more questions in the present – hopefully all of which be answered by the end of the season. The series also explores the drama and tension within this family caused by both the tragedy and Claire’s political aspirations. I look forward to seeing how this story plays out over the season.

On tonight’s premiere, “Pilot,” Maine politician Claire Warren’s presumed-dead son Adam returns home a decade after he disappeared; and while he’s welcomed with a mixture of joy and astonishment, he’s also met with suspicion, as some doubt that he is who he says he is. Adam’s reappearance also reverberates beyond the family: the neighbor convicted of his murder must be freed.

See the start of this new drama tonight on ABC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Life in Pieces, Grey’s Anatomy, You, Me, and the Apocalypse, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The 100, Top Chef, Recipe for Deception, and Workaholics.
