If We Controlled Your Remote… 12/1/13

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving? I did. 🙂 We got a new stove/oven a few days before, so cooking was a lot more fun than it’s been since we moved into this place about five years ago. Thanksgiving night, my kiddo went over to his friend’s house, and then the two of them left early Friday morning with his friend’s grandparents. They’ll be in Branson, Missouri, until sometime tonight. So it was a fun weekend, and as of right now, I still have quite a bit of time kid free to enjoy. 😉 To cap off a great weekend, there’s some excellent TV on to enjoy tonight, so check out our recommendations.

thementalist121smallLast week, the Red John arc on The Mentalist finally ended, after 5+ seasons. After fooling everyone…except Jane, apparently…Red John turned out to be Sheriff McAllister. Jane strangled him, getting revenge for the murders of his wife and daughter. Then on his way out of town (one can only assume. LOL), he called Lisbon one more time. It was kind of heartwrenching. When we left off, the team was in FBI custody, Jane had killed his arch enemy and was on the run, and the CBI was no more. Where in the world do we go from there?! Two years into the future, apparently… The show is back tonight, and it’s gonna be a whole new ball game. I can’t wait to see how it goes without Red John as the focus. (And check out the episode title. No references to RED!) Emily Swallow joins the cast tonight, and star Simon Baker directed tonight’s episode.

On tonight’s episode, “My Blue Heaven,” two years after the Red John case was put to rest, Jane’s newfound peace is interrupted by a surprising job offer that could change everything for him.

Find out what job offer comes Jane’s way and where the rest of the team is tonight on CBS at 10:30/9:30c.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/24/13

I’m so glad it’s a new week! Why? Because Thursday is Thanksgiving here in the U.S. We’re cooking here at home again this year, which I love. Michael Symon’s turkey from The Chew, my mom’s green bean casserole… Yum. That does mean it’s a bit of a slower week, but we’re here to give you our recommendations from what is new. 🙂

thementalist1124smallTonight is the wrap-up of the LONG Red John arc—the backbone of the show—on The Mentalist. Last week, the CBI was shut down by the FBI after Jane announced that Bertram was Red John. Jane got back to the office just in time to see them carry out his sofa, and then his favorite teacup was dropped and smashed to smithereens. This show is never what it seems, though. So is Bertram really Red John? What’s going to happen now that the CBI is no more? So many questions, and since I’ve seen tonight’s episode, I know the answer to some of them. 😉 I can’t give away anything, but I can say it is a very satisfying wrap-up of the Red John story line, and when they show comes back in December, I’ll be right here watching to see where it goes next.

On tonight’s episode, “Red John,” Patrick Jane finally comes face-to-face with Red John, the serial killer he’s tracked since the madman murdered his wife and daughter.

See the conclusion to the Red John story line tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Guy’s Grocery Games, Restaurant Express, & On the Rocks.

TV times 3 (TVx3) Podcast Ep.204

Early this week, I was part of the TVx3 Podcast with Jason (@theTVaholic) & Amrie (@mytakeontv). We talked recent TV news, then chatted about episodes of The Blacklist, Elementary, Ground Floor, Raising Hope, Almost Human, and The Mentalist. Then Amrie talked reality, with me jumping in about one of my favorite reality shows of the last few months, MasterChef Junior. You can listen to it here.

Jason does these podcasts once a week with different hosts joining him, and this was my first time. It was a lot of fun! Kyle & Megan have both done it several times. You can check out the TV times Three site here, with all the previous podcasts. Be sure to check them out! TV times Three.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/17/13

It’s the start of a new week, and I’m excited because there’s some great TV on this week. As I write this up, I’m actually watching the “Red John” episode for The Mentalist. Sometimes, I love being me. 😉 But that’s for next week. For tonight, there’s still plenty on, so check out our recommendations.

Jenny’s Choice

thementalist1117smallOn last week’s The Mentalist, Jane met with the Red John suspects, holding them at gunpoint until they showed their left arms. Really not surprising to me, Bret Stiles & Ray Haffner were both clean, but the other three—Sheriff McAllister, Reede Smith, and Gale Bertram—all had the tattoo of the three red dots. Just before Lisbon showed up, we heard a gunshot, and then as Lisbon was running up to the house, there was an explosion. So who lived, who died, and why did three of them have the tattoo? I know the answers to those questions. Tonight’s and next week’s episodes are fantastic, so don’t miss them!

On tonight’s episode, “The Great Red Dragon,” following the shocking events at Jane’s house, the Red John list is narrowed down further, and the CBI’s priority is the remaining suspects.

Find out who, if anyone died in the explosion and how far they can narrow the Red John list tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Almost Human, Cousins Undercover, Guy’s Grocery Games, Restaurant Express, & On the Rocks.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/10/13

A new week and the holidays are creeping up on us. Before we know it, it’s going to be time to put the Christmas tree up. Yay! I love the holidays, except for the traffic and stupidity of shoppers, but that’s an issue I have with people on a normal basis. While I contemplate my lack of love for people in general, let’s see what you should be watching on TV tonight.

Megan’s Choice

witchesofeastend1110smallWitches of East End is definitely not filled with your grandmother’s brand of witches. Gone are the days of warts, green skin, and pointy hats. Instead, they’ve been replaced with incredibly sexy, intelligence, and badass women. Freya (played by the delicious Jenna Dewan Tatum) is by far my favorite character. Freya is a wild child, who tends to let herself give into her desires a little too much. Although she is engaged to Dash, she can’t explain why she is so drawn to his mind-numbingly sexy brother, Killian. As a witch, this girl just rocks it out, and as a woman, she makes all of us wish we could be as confident and powerful as she is.

Last week, we watched as Ingrid found her own special way to mourn for Adam, and Freya sharpened her claws when she met Dash’s ex-fiancée. It was a strong episode, and I am looking forward to seeing so much more from this mystical family.

On tonight’s episode, “Potentia Noctis,” Freya makes a startling discovery at Fair Haven while Ingrid has flashbacks to one of her past lives.

To get your fix of sexy magic, tune in to Lifetime at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching The Amazing Race, Alaskan Women Looking for Love, Guy’s Grocery Games, The Mentalist, America’s Funniest Home Videos, and Once Upon a Time.
