It’s taking some time for me to fully like all the characters on the new Whiskey Cavalier. I go back and forth on most of them, depending on the episode. Like last week, I got almost as irritated with Standish as Jai did. He was being pretty disrespectful, having all his trash and crap lying around in other people’s space. I’m no neat freak, but dang. Then again, Standish did well getting the guard to take in the champagne to the bad guy (or rather, the bad guy’s body double. LOL). So it was a tossup. I also got really irritated with Frankie for her crappy attitude toward Will, and going off and kissing the groomsman and then her line about it being the American way for all couples to cheat really ticked me off. I did love the fight in the locker room with the woman from Will’s past! LOL But overall, I’m still enjoying the show, and I think they’re just going to grow and gel as a cast, which will make it even better.

On tonight’s episode, “The English Job,” while investigating suspicious robberies in London, Will hits it off with a sexy British spy, leaving Frankie with some unexpected feelings that she doesn’t know how to process. Meanwhile, Jai competes with Susan over who is more intelligent, and Standish deals with a case of shell shock. Ophelia Lovibond (Elementary) guest stars.

See how Frankie handles her feelings tonight on ABC at 10/9c.

My pick tonight is actually two shows, both family competition shows premiering on BYUtv. First is the comedic game show Battle of the Ages, which pits two multi-generational family teams (grandparent, parent, child/teen) against each other in mental and physical challenges. It looks a little bit like Double Dare but with a few twists and just looks like a lot of fun.

Following that is the premiere of Dinner Takes All, a family cooking competition show hosted by celebrity chef Kelsey Nixon. Like several other shows, one of which is currently airing on Food Network, two teams of family members go head-to-head. In this one, it’s families of five who have to cook their “best Sunday dinner.” Each team uses family recipes to create an entrée, three side dishes, and a dessert while simultaneously playing interactive food-centric games for bonus points. Winning families receive a $10,000 cash prize. So it isn’t just a cooking show. There are fun games as well.

On tonight’s episode of Battle of the Ages, “Sanchez vs. Perkey,” grandparents get hints from pilot Lucky Lindenburger in a race to name the state he’s flying over.

Then on Dinner Takes All, “LoRusso Family vs. Castleberry Family,” the LoRusso and Castleberry families cook meals while playing games to win $10,000.

Catch all the fun tonight on BYUtv starting at 8:30/7:30c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing The Goldbergs, Schooled, Gone, Guy’s Grocery Games, Modern Family, Single Parents, Whiskey Cavalier, & SEAL Team.

I’ve been looking forward to the series premiere of Whiskey Cavalier since we first learned about it back in October 2017 with the casting of Scott Foley (Scandal, The Unit, Felicity) in the lead. A dramedy “cop” show with a great pair of leads? I’m in! And after seeing the first two episodes, I’m ALL in. Foley plays tough but tender (that’s ABC’s wording. Too funny not to leave in…) FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”). Following an emotional breakup, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead). Together, they lead an interagency team of flawed, funny, and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics. Also on their team are Susan Sampson (Ana Ortiz, Devious Maids, True Blue, Ugly Betty) of the FBI, Jai Datta (Indian actor and comedian Vir Das) of the CIA, Ray Prince (Josh Hopkins, Quantico, Cougar Town), and Edgar Standish (Tyler James Williams, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Everybody Hates Chris).

This is very reminiscent of Castle and Bones, a lighthearted, comedic drama where the partner leads have a definite chemistry and a will-they/won’t-they partnership. As in: one of my favorite types of show. LOL So far, there’s nothing too deep about it, but really, with the state of the country right now, a fun, lighthearted show is just what we need. Tonight is a special preview of the pilot. I think it’s really just the pilot at a different day & time. So I’m treating it as the series premiere, and when it airs in its normal night and time this week, it’s just going to repeat the premiere from tonight. But after that, it’ll air new episodes on Wednesdays at 10/9c.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot,” Will Chase and Francesca Trowbridge lead an interagency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies, all while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics.

Meet Will & Frankie tonight on ABC at 11:35/10:35c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Private Eyes & Worst Cooks in America.
