galavant13smallHuzzah and Tally Ho! Tonight, one of my favorite shows from last year finally returns! I am so glad Galavant got a second season because the first season ended on quite the cliffhanger! As the season came to a close, all of the prisoners had escaped from the castle, except for Sid. Madalena killed Richard’s brother and took the throne for herself, with Gareth by her side. Meanwhile, Isabella made her way to the home of her young cousin/future husband, where she was locked away in a tiny room. And Galavant and Richard were boarding a ship, trying to make their way back to their loves.

Will Galavant find Isabella before she marries her child groom? Will King Richard reclaim his throne? How will Madalena and Gareth run their new kingdom, and how will Sid fit in as their new squire? And how will Chef and Gwynne deal will their new freedom?

I thoroughly enjoy this show and have been anxiously awaiting new episodes! The characters are so much fun, and each episode is so creatively written, mixing in humorous situations and dialog, clever medieval parodies of modern-time pop culture and technology, and extremely witty and catchy original songs. I love having an hour of musical comedy to look forward to every week – and with at least 4 original songs each Sunday, there’s bound to be one that gets stuck in your head the next day!

The second season picks up immediately where the first left off. (If you missed the first season, you can still grab it for free on iTunes!) This series is perfect for binge-watching as it plays out like long story. However, each episode also has its own self-contained arcs. The second season will be aired across 5 weeks, 2 episodes each Sunday. I had access to screeners of the first 7 of this year’s 10 episodes, and I couldn’t help myself… I binged them all in a day! But even though I’ve already seen tonight’s premiere, I can’t wait to re-watch the episodes again tonight!

On tonight’s first episode, “A New Season aka Suck It Cancellation Bear,” Galavant and the crew are shipwrecked thanks to bad advice, and their overland trek back to Richard’s kingdom leads to a bar in West Hollow-wood. Then, in “World’s Best Kiss,” Galavant sees a fortune teller and is able to contact Isabella, who is planning her escape from Hortensia.

Sing along tonight on ABC starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording The Simpsons, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life, Family Guy, Bordertown, & Worst Cooks in America.

worstcookssmallI love a good cooking competition series, and Food Network’s Worst Cooks in America is one of the best. It’s unbelievable how BAD some (most) of these cooks are each season. Anne Burrell is back, and this season, Tyler Florence (host of The Great Food Truck Race) is joining her in the mentor seat. I can’t wait to see how his teaching style differs from Anne’s. And based on the promos I’ve seen on TV recently, this season’s sure to be a lot of fun.

On tonight’s episode, “It Just Keeps Getting Worse,” Anne Burrell and Tyler Florence choose 14 contestants from an open call to bring back to Boot Camp, where the recruits prepare their signature dishes for the chefs; Anne and Tyler choose their recruits and teach them to create a romantic meal.

Check out the new recruits tonight on Food Network at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Galavant, The Great British Baking Show, Guy’s Grocery Games, The Librarians, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, CSI, & Cutthroat Kitchen.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 3/17/14

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Whether you had some corned beef and cabbage, drank green beer, or kissed an Irishman, I hope that your day was filled with all the luck and heritage you hoped for. Now, while some of you party the night away, the rest of us will settle down to watch some new TV. Check out our recommendations!

bones317smallIt’s nice to have Bones back on Monday nights and, even better, just to have it back after the hiatus. Last week’s episode was fabulous straight out of the gate, especially with the sexy Freddie Prinze Jr. reprising his guest role as CIA Agent Danny Beck. The case followed the death of an Afghani woman named Sari, who we later found out was in a relationship with Danny. He was very upset when Booth considered him a suspect, but in the end, it turned out to be a smug US guard who just gave me the creeps with his general demeanor. Besides the case, there was the usual Booth and Brennan banter that we have all come to love, and this episode had us watching as Brennan was quite indignant that her life insurance was more expensive than Booth’s, which was very amusing. I loved how they ended with the couple having a drink in her office, which was a nice break from the usual setting of them at home.

On tonight’s episode, “The Repo Man in the Septic Tank,” a repo man’s remains are found in a septic tank, and the Jeffersonian team must work together to figure out who the killer is. When the team discovers that the victim had a troubled past, some key witnesses from his earlier days become potential suspects. Meanwhile, handsome and charming Rodolfo Fuentes (guest star Ignacio Serricchio) has defected from Cuba, where he was a forensic anthropologist, but now needs an internship to complete his degree. Brennan agrees to try him out as an intern on a case, and Brennan and Booth discuss whether or not Christine should have a religious upbringing.

To see how the religion discussion goes for our favorite crime-fighting couple, tune in to FOX at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching The Following, Rick and Morty, Mom, Mike & Molly, The Blacklist, The Voice, Star-Crossed, Intelligence, Teen Wolf, and Worst Cooks in America.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/17/14

Welcome, Monday. Most of us don’t like you, but you continue to torment us. You and Old Man Winter should get together and go… Never mind me. 😉 It’s warming up outside, but not completely. Still, it’s better than the frigid temperatures it was. Some people have work off today for the holiday. My kid has it off school, so at least there’s that. Now, on to better things, like what we’re recommending you watch on TV tonight. 😉

castle217smallI’m so thrilled that Castle is on ABC because we’re not having to wait all these weeks for new episodes. It’s still been two weeks since the last new episode, which is too long. 😉 Last time was all about the murder of a young woman in the fashion industry, which brought Beckett back to her short time as a model. Castle was shocked by that…and thrilled. In the end, it was another man from the company that killed the girl because he was gunning for the boss’s job. But the more important part of the episode was Beckett putting off the wedding as she was trying on a (I’m sorry, but…) terribly ugly wedding dress as a favor for the fashion queen/her ex-boss, then getting the dress as a gift from said ex-boss, then telling Castle she would rather get married sooner than later. Turned out she was feeling sad because her mom wouldn’t be there, but she realized that it wouldn’t matter if she put it off—her mother wouldn’t be there anyway, and she loved Castle and wanted to marry him. I just hope something happens to the dress and she has to choose something else, because it really was ugly. *laugh* She can usually make anything look good, but… Ack.

On tonight’s episode, “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” the murder of a high school mean girl draws Castle back to one of his many alma maters, where he is giddy to learn that the evidence points to a surprising perpetrator: a teenage telekinetic, throwing Beckett and him into a real-life Carrie.

See if Castle & Beckett can catch the murderer tonight on ABC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Almost Human, Bitten, Worst Cooks in America, Mystery Diners, & Intelligence.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 2/17/13

This will be short and sweet because I figured out that apparently, my son can get well and THEN I can get sick after two days. Not fun, I tell you… Not fun. So check out what we think you should be watching while I curl up and feel like I want to die.

thementalist217smallIt’s been three weeks since the last new episode of The Mentalist, which is too long, in my opinion. Last time, the case dealt with a 25-year-old case that involved the Visualize group…and a Red John smilie face on the side of a big barn. It put Jane one step closer to figuring out who Red John is, since he had to have been there when he was a certain age 25 years ago. Jane has narrowed it down to less than 500 names, if I remember right. Considering how many he started with…that’s pretty impressive. We’ll see if it actually goes somewhere, though. Oh, and I do hope Amanda Righetti (Van Pelt) has her baby soon and comes back so her character can get out from behind that blasted desk! LOL I want her back in the field!

On tonight’s episode, “Red in Tooth and Claw,” the team delves into the surprisingly cutthroat world of academics in a case involving a graduate student at a natural history museum. Rob Benedict (Supernatural) and Zuleikha Robinson (Homeland) guest star.

See who Patrick Jane can offend in the name of justice tonight on CBS at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of The Mentalist @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Funniest Home Videos, Chopped, Worst Cooks in America, & Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell.
