This Week on TV – 7/6/08-7/12/08

Welcome to a new week of TV! Another long week so it’s Friday as I write this. Had some jerkoff hack into my gmail and Paypal accounts and buy some World of Warcraft crap and basically steal $1600 from me. So… yeah, going a little bit nuts. Hopefully this will take my mind off things! So let’s see what is on tv for a distraction this week, shall we? Jump with me to see this week’s schedule!

Thursday

Thursday is the series premiere of Greatest American Dog on CBS at 8/7c. Extraordinary teams of dogs and owners across the nation will compete for the title of Greatest American Dog. Owners and their pets – from “pageant dogs” to those simply trained at home – will live together and compete against each other in games that put the owners’ ability to train their dogs to the test. The winning team will walk away with a $250,000 cash prize. It is hosted by Jarod Miller. If you haven’t seen him before, he hosts some show on Animal Planet, I think and he does animal segments on Rachael Ray’s talk show. He’s hysterical and very fun to watch. 🙂

It’s also the series premiere of Dragons’ Den on BBC America at 9/8c. This competition series gives would-be entrepreneurs a chance of a lifetime and these are the most crucial three minutes of their life – to pitch their ideas to five self-made millionaires, aka the Dragons, who have the connections and the cash to make their business plan a reality. The Den is open for business and these multi-millionaire investors are ready to back the best ideas and innovations with hundreds of thousands of their own cash.

Finally, it’s the series premiere of The Works on the History Channel at 10/9c. Daniel H. Wilson puts complex subjects such as steel, motorcycles and power tools under the microscope revealing their history and unseen secrets and finds enough fascinating “did you know” facts that would make the most knowledgeable of history buffs scratch his head. My husband is gonna love this show! heh

Friday

Friday is the series premiere of Ashley Paige: Bikini or Bust on TLC at 10/9c followed by a 2nd new episode at 10:30/9:30c. The docu-series goes inside the life of Ashley Paige, a renowned bathing suit designer who had it all magazine covers, A-list celebrities wearing her bikinis, a brand-new store in Los Angeles … in short, a promising career in the fashion world. But, just as quickly as she became an overnight sensation, she hit rock bottom. Currently, Ashley can barely make rent, let alone successfully run her business. But that’s all about to change as she embarks on a journey to take all of her potential and turn it into success.

The one I’m really looking forward to most is the series premiere of Flashpoint on CBS at 10/9c. This emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops in the SRU (inspired by Toronto’s Emergency Task Force) is about a unit that rescues hostages, busts gangs, defuses bombs, climbs the sides of buildings and talks down suicidal teens. As they race against the clock to determine what brought these people to their respective breaking points, members of this highly skilled team use their training in negotiating, profiling and getting inside the suspect’s head to diffuse the situation to try to save lives. It stars Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars on Veronica Mars)!

It’s also the season premiere of Stargate: Atlantis on SciFi at 10/9c and the return of Degrassi: The Next Generation on The N at 8/7c.
