Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s 2010 already! A special note out to my wonderful husband who is celebrating his birthday today! Okay enough about me, onto the news! [Note from Jenny: Haha My own husband celebrated his yesterday! What a weird coincidence! πŸ˜€ ]

I think I’m going to start watching Mercy regularly because James Van Der Beek (Dawson’s Creek) has been cast as “Liam West, the hospital’s new ICU chief.” He’ll be an “alpha-male” type but will prove himself as a stellar doctor, who just happens to have a dark secret (umm, don’t they all? πŸ˜€ ). At the moment the role is only on the recurring basis but Ausiello is saying that if James melds well with the other cast members then he could be a regular. I haven’t been watching religiously but I love Van Der Beek ever since I fell in love with Dawson years ago, so I’ll be tuning in now.. will you? Source

More after the jump.

Layfayette is going to be seeing some hot Latino action this season of True Blood, in the form of Kevin Alejandro (Southland). YUM! πŸ˜‰ Alejandro will be playing Jesus Velasquez who just happens to be an adorable orderly that’s caring for Layfayette’s mother (Alfre Woodard). I’m so excited for season 3 of True Blood, especially with all these scrumptious men being cast, aren’t you? Source

I’m not a fan of The Apprentice at all, and I dislike The Celebrity Apprentice even more, but color me slightly intrigued to see how former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich does on the show. Blagojevich is awaiting trial for the charges of conspiring to auction off President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat and for alleged campaign fundraising abuses. The former Governor was supposed to be on I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here but the judge wouldn’t let him go to Costa Rica, so his wife Patti took his place and she was adorable. I admit she was kind of annoying at times but far more interesting than he is, perhaps they should have her on The Celebrity Apprentice instead of Rod. πŸ˜€ Other cast members for this instalment include Sharon Osbourne and Cyndi Lauper. Will you be tuning in? Source

All you Dexter fans who loved Rita, will be happy to know that you can see Julie Benz on Desperate Housewives starting in February. Benz will play, “Debbie, a stripper with a heart of gold and a Masters degree in education.” Debbie will get a way out of her stripper life from Susan, and she’ll appear on at least three episodes. I’m happy about this, because Benz is a fantastic actress and I believe this will be an interesting storyline. Source

Blossom star, Mayim Bialik, is making a break back to TV tonight on The Secret Life of The American Teenager at 8 pm on ABC Family. Bialik will be playing the school’s new guidance counsellor, who has some questionable things in her past. On Blossom was always a little quirky, and that has carried over into her real life. The mom of two is a little “eccentric” and has even been a target of Stacey and Clinton’s from What Not To Wear, is looking to see how the world of Hollywood accepts her as an adult actress. My opinion is the more the merrier. Seriously though, The Secret Life has already helped re-launch the career of Molly Ringwold so why not another teen star? Source

Oh, how torn am I? On the one hand I have loved Kim Raver since her days on Third Watch and on the other hand I am a huge supporter of the Owen/Christina relationship on Grey’s Anatomy, so I’m a little torn with the announcement that Raver has been bumped up to a regular on the hit ABC show. Raver plays Dr. Teddy Altman, a former Army colleague of Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) who has deep feelings for Owen, and who also happens to be Christina’s new role model as a fabulous cardio surgeon. Wow, drama much? I’m excited and nervous, Shonda Rhimes loves to mix things up so I’m hoping she leaves Owen and Christina together and perhaps throws Raver at a different doctor. If nothing else it’s one more reason to tune into Grey’s this season which has been getting better and better with each episode. Source

Well, that’s all for me for today, but don’t miss all-new episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Make It or Break It tonight on ABC Family tonight starting at 8 pm. Have a great day!
