This Week on TV – 1/10/10-1/16/10

Welcome to a new week of TV! Well, no one is going to be able to take a look at the schedule for this week and say that the TV season isn’t back in full swing! My word, there are so many things on this week that my head is spinning! I know you’re more interested in checking that out than listening to me blather along, so go! Get to reading! 😉 Jump with me to view this week’s schedule!

Sunday

Sunday is the series premiere of Madhouse on the History Channel at 10/9c. It’s the Hatfields & McCoys on hot asphalt. Ramming, spin-outs and fistfights are not unheard-of at the “Madhouse,” a quarter-mile racetrack in Winston-Salem, NC. There, daring local drivers show their love of cars and savvy ingenuity as they retool, redesign, rebuild and re-customize their cars for the big race on Saturday night. The new series with its colorful characters shows us a historic slice of culture, in a racing tradition that dates back to the days of running moonshine.

Tonight is also the season premiere of 4 shows, all of which are on at 9/8c. First up is Ax Men on the History Channel. Also tonight is the premiere of Big Love on HBO, Iron Chef America on Food Network and the 2-hour premiere of Chuck on NBC.

There are 2 football games today. First is the AFC Wild Card Playoff: Baltimore at New England on CBS at 1/12c. Then later in the afternoon, at 4:30/3:30c, it’s the NFC Wildcard Game: Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals on FOX.

Finally, tonight is a 2-hour Battlestar Galactica special, on Syfy at 9/8c.

VH1 will give viewers a close-up view into the complex, touching and surprisingly relatable life of recording artist, actress and American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino. The series follows Fantasia as she juggles her career and single-motherhood while devoting her energy into recording her highly anticipated third album.

Following that, also at VH1, at 10:30/9:30c, is the series premiere of Let’s Talk About Pep. The real-life comedy follows Sandra “Pepa” Denton of Salt-n-Pepa fame as she emerges from her self-imposed romantic and sexual dormancy of the past four years as she begins to search for love again. After years of living a celibate life in order to focus on finding “the one,” Pep has realized that giving up sex actually got her nowhere in the relationship world. She didn’t “evolve,” she didn’t land a husband and the only close relationship she formed was with her exercise bike. But she’s not the only one. Her three closest girlfriends are all single and searching too. The four friends will laugh, cry and dish the dirt as they support each other along the way.

Finally, there are 2 season premieres tonight as well, both at 10/9c. First up is the premiere of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel. It’s also the premiere of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the Food Network.

Last but not least, there are three big happenings on episodes tonight. First, if you are a fan of How I Met Your Mother, don’t miss tonight’s 100th episode! Neil Patrick Harris directed it and it’s rumored to be extraordinary!

Next, if you are a fan of Castle or Alyssa Milano, don’t miss tonight’s episode, as she’ll be guest starring as an old flame of Castle’s that he meets again during a case… Juicy, I promise, including a jealous Beckett! Woohoo!

Finally, if you have heard about the “scandal” on The Bachelor, don’t miss tonight’s episode, where it all comes out in the open and something that has never happened on the series before happens!
