This Week on TV – 1/24/10-1/30/10

Welcome to a new week of TV! This is a much slower week for TV, thank goodness. I’m having issues with my DVR, so I’m going to have to have a tech come out and check it out and then probably get a new DVR. Which sucks, since I have 25 things on there, all of which have not been watched yet. Most of the beginning of White Collar, the last 2 episodes of Monk, all but 2 episodes of Men of a Certain Age, a lot of the last week of TV… *sigh* So let’s see what else I’ll be adding to the defunct DVR this week, shall we? Jump with me to view this week’s schedule!

Monday

Monday is the series premiere of The Inbetweeners on BBC America at 9/8c, with a 2nd new episode at 9:30/8:30c. It offers a painfully funny take on the squirming humiliations of teenage life. It begins with the new kid in town, Will (Simon Bird), who has unwillingly had to move, change schools and, as a result, make new friends. He soon meets Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison), who are neither that cool nor that credible. Marooned in middle-class suburbia, The Inbetweeners follows the four friends who get drunk too quickly, ride roller coasters and crush on the girl next door.

Tonight is also the series premiere of La La Land on Showtime at 11/10c. Award-winning British comedy sensation Marc Wootton stars in a new series about three wannabes struggling to find fame and fortune in Los Angeles. The show is a hybrid of documentary and comedy – Marc plays fictitious characters but everybody else in the show, including his accomplices such as Kiki (Brendan’s assistant), Chico (Shirley’s driver) and Ruta (Gary’s mentor), is completely real and utterly unaware they are talking to an actor.

Tonight is also the season premieres of 3 shows. First up is Top Gear at BBC America at 8/7c, then Damages on FX at 10/9c, and finally State of the Union on Showtime at 10:30/9:30c.

Finally, tonight is the ‘Billie and the Real Belle Bare All’ special for the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl on Showtime at 10/9c.
