If We Controlled Your Remote… 7/11/11

What the Frak happened to the usually somewhat slow Monday TV night?! Between the three new/returning shows on SyFy and the two returning TNT shows, my Monday night TV load has doubled! So many good shows, so little time. Either I’m in for some late Monday nights/early Tuesday mornings just to keep up, or else I have to start playing “Network Programming Exec” and start axing some shows from my DVR! – Kyle

Tonight, I’m looking forward to the “mid-season” premiere of Eureka—and not just because I’ll finally have something to watch at 8pm on Mondays. I’m not sure why tonight’s episode is still considered to be part of the fourth season, which started LAST July! Last year, things in Eureka were shaken up when some time travel resulted in butterfly effects that changed everything we knew about the people and relationships in the town. This was a nice way for the creators of the show to drop some dying story lines and introduce some new relationships. Anything can and will happen in the unique town of Eureka, and I’m looking forward to seeing if things will return to “normal” by the end of the season, and what wacky new adventures and Earth-threatening events we encounter this year.

In tonight’s episode, “Liftoff,” Carter lands in an awkward situation after S.A.R.A.H. and Andy’s nuptials hit a snag; Zane keeps harassing Jo for details; an unscheduled launch presents trouble for the gang.

One of my favorite summer shows (not even that…cause it’s one of my favorite shows regardless of the time of year!) is Syfy’s Warehouse 13. Eddie McClintock has to be one of the nicest, funniest guys on television. Last season, the gang went through major upheavals, with the whole H. G. Wells storyline eventually leading up to Myka quitting the Warehouse job, much to the shock of not only Pete, Artie, and Claudia, but us fans, as well. This season, the show hired Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy from Smallville) to come in as Steve Jinks, Pete’s new partner. Does that mean Claudia is gone for good? I don’t know, but I don’t think so. 😉 What makes Steve even more interesting is that he has the unique ability to tell when someone is lying. He should bring an interesting dynamic to the show, so I can’t wait!

On tonight’s premiere, Pete take Warehouse 13’s newest agent on his first assignment, which is an undercover operation at a secret banking conference in Denver, in search of the person responsible for the deaths of several individuals that were in attendance.

Time to raise your glass! Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles are BFFs, and they are back in full effect! Season one of Rizzoli & Isles showed us the amazing chemistry that both the characters, and the actors who play them (Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander) exude and embody. The drama, suspense, and amazing humor that this show brought only continues into season two, and that’s exactly what viewers fell in love with the first time around!

On tonight’s season premiere, Jane is honored as a hero at a public event for her heroism in last season’s cliffhanger finale. Also, a case leads Jane to be reunited with a very handsome old high school flame.

I cannot say enough good things about Warehouse 13, and if you haven’t started watching it, you are missing out. This interesting and exciting show is starting its third season tonight, and I am sure it’s going to be bigger and better than the rest. If you’re not familiar with this series, then let me give you a quick run down. 🙂

Warehouse 13 is a top-secret storage facility in South Dakota that stores strange artifact, mysterious relics, fantastical object, and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse’s caretaker, Artie (Saul Rubinek), puts FBI agents, Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly) in charge of finding and capturing the supernatural and paranormal activity that are causing problems around the states. Their assistant Claudia (Allison Scagliotti) is a very bright, engaging young woman who hopes to become an agent soon. They are joined this season by newcomer Aaron Ashmore, as Steve Jinks.

On tonight’s episode, Pete and Steve go undercover at a secret banking conference in Denver, in search of a killer.

It’s a damn good night of TV for Syfy, because tonight is the return of new episodes of Eureka, another of my favorite shows. I love everything about it, from the characters to the storylines to the crazy science and wacky experiments. I was totally worried about the time jump at the beginning of the season, especially when a new character began making goo-goo eyes at Allison, and she seemed to respond to it. It turned out I had absolutely nothing to be worried about in regards to the Carter/Allison relationship, because the time jump only meant good things for them, as they officially became a couple. Things didn’t fare so well for Jo and Zane, my 2nd favorite couple, but I have hopes their chemistry will stay strong and eventually lead them back to the couple I love.

On tonight’s episode, Fargo and Zane find themselves being forced to work together after a secret experiment goes awry and strands them far away from home. The citizens of the town of Eureka face disaster when a technological catastrophe strikes.

She’s sharp as a tack, and she doesn’t miss a beat. Brenda Lee Johnson is back on The Closer, and she’s taking on nastier criminals this year and even more heinous crimes. The tough as nails Brenda is back with an arsenal of snark and her trusty team of detectives. You won’t want to miss a single moment of this season, not just because it’s the last for the show, but because every single moment of each episodes is completely captivating. The Closer has continually and consistently been a show that delivers episode after episode, and with the series finale looming, it’s only going to raise the bar that much more!

Tonight, Brenda and the squad investigate the owner of a record label after a rap artist is shot. while Chief Delk prepares to announce the department’s new organizational chart. Also, Brenda is the target of a civil suit that is brought against the police department.

The third show tonight on Syfy is the 90-minute series premiere of Alphas, which follows a clandestine group of average everyday citizens with amazing abilities operating within the U.S. Department of Defense. Led by preeminent neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn), the team investigates cases that point to others with abilities like theirs, and as they work against the clock to solve this new brand of crime, they must prevent their own personality differences and disparate backgrounds from interfering with their missions.

In addition to Strathairn, the ensemble cast stars Malik Yoba (New York Undercover), Warren Christie (October Road), Laura Mennell (Watchmen), Ryan Cartwright (Mad Men, Bones) and Azita Ghanizada (Castle). The Alphas are ordinary people with very extraordinary abilities known as Alpha Skills, such as the ability to summon great strength, hyperkinesis, influencing (the ability to influence others), transducer (basically a human antennae), and synesthete (the ability to enhance one sense, while basically rendering the others useless).

Don’t miss the 90-minute series premiere tonight on Syfy at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Alphas @ Clicker.
