If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/11/11

I hope everyone who got the day off work yesterday for Columbus Day or Thanksgiving had a nice long weekend! I really can’t wait for this baseball to finish up, as I want my FOX shows back! Although, the baseball does give me some extra time to work on my DVR backlog, especially when all of the shows I plan to watch tonight don’t start until 10pm! Read on to see what we think you should watch tonight!

Things are starting to get tense on Sons of Anarchy! Last week, Clay caught Uncer destroying copies of the letters. However, Gemma wasn’t aware of this and handed Clay a bag of ashes, claiming that she had the letters. Now that Clay knows that Gemma was lying, what will he do with this information? Who has the original letters, and what if they get into Jax’s hands? Meanwhile, Juice is literally being BLACKmailed and stole a brick of the cartel’s cocaine. Now he needs to figure out how to return it before anyone discovers it is missing. I’m so glad that this show has returned to the central plots of the first two seasons after last year’s excursion to Ireland.

In tonight’s episode, “With an X,” SAMCRO’s relationship with the cartel is jeopardized when an important package is compromised.

Check it out tonight on FX at 10/9c. Learn where to find episodes online of Sons of Anarchy @ Clicker.

When I watched the pilots gearing up for the new season, one of the ones I enjoyed was Last Man Standing. The show stars Tim Allen, who was the lead in Home Improvement years ago. Last Man Standing and Tim’s character are somewhat reminiscent of the other, but since I enjoyed Home Improvement, that’s all right with me. They aren’t really the same story-wise, but they have somewhat the same feel.

You can’t get manlier than Mike Baxter (Tim Allen). He loves to have adventures while he’s traveling for work, and of course, he drives a pick-up truck. But Mike is about to find out that it’s not a man’s world anymore. While he might be king of the hill at work at an iconic outdoor sporting goods store, he’s the odd man out in a home dominated by his wife and three daughters. Today it’s a woman’s world, and this man’s man is on a mission to get men back to their rightful place in society.

Mike’s job has been downsized, and he can no longer travel for work. At the same time, his stay-at-home wife, Vanessa (Nancy Travis, The Bill Engvall Show), is returning to the workplace, so Mike finds himself pulled into more hands-on parenting with their three daughters. There’s 13-year-old tomboy, Eve (Kaitlyn Dever, Justified); the outspoken Mandy (Molly Ephraim), 17; and Kristin (Alexandra Krosney, Surviving Suburbia), a 20-year-old single mom living at home with her toddler son, possibly Mike’s only ally.

The show also stars Christoph Sanders (Ned on Ghost Whisperer) and Hector Elizondo (Monk, Chicago Hope).

Tuesdays are always a great night for me, because it’s full of handsome boys, intriguing storylines, and Navy officers. First up is NCIS, and last week’s episode was centred more on McGee. I enjoyed see more of McGee’s family issues, but I’m still holding out for more McGee/Abby interactions. Another thing I’m hoping for is Abby to get more time out of the lab.

On tonight’s episode, “Enemy on the Hill,” the team tries to learn why a decorated naval officer is being targeted by a contract killer. Abby volunteers for kidney donation and learns something new about her family during the tests.

On Ringer, Bridget, as Siobhan, has decided to take the bull, and her life, by the horns and call all of the shots. She has helped Siobhan mend fences with Andrew and has decided to not let the idea of blackmail or the murder she committed mess up her cover. She’s even been keeping her sobriety in check in the midst of all this stress and drama. It’s amazing what one can accomplish when living a fake life. Sarah Michelle Gellar continues to be a force to be reckoned with on this brand new Fall TV show darling that is beloved by the critics and fans. The intensity, the action, and suspense on Ringer continue to make Tuesday nights hotter and hotter!

On an all new episode, Gemma asks for a favor, and Henry receives crushing news about his writing career. Also, Andrew’s relationship with his daughter Juliet continues to be tumultuous, and Bridget attends a meeting where she meets a potential sponsor.

I’m also looking forward to tonight’s new episode of Body of Proof. Last week, we saw the return of Megan’s mother, Judge Joan Hunt. We also saw the introduction of guest star Cliff Curtis (who I will always think of as “that cocky helicopter pilot from Trauma“) as FBI Agent Derek Ames. I can only assume this is just the first appearance of Derek, who will ultimately become a love interest for Megan. (By that, I meant Dana Delaney’s character, and not the Megan who writes for this site, although… 😉 ). I like how this show has interesting cases, while also allowing us to explore more of Dr. Hunt’s family and relationships.

I’m really enjoying the new CBS show, Unforgettable. Poppy Montgomery is fantastic (& I have to say, she’s hot! lol) as Carrie, as is Dylan Walsh as her cop ex-boyfriend, Al. In a way, Carrie reminds me of Shawn Spencer on Psych or Patrick Jane on The Mentalist. No, she’s not pretending to be psychic. But like those 2 characters, she can walk into a room and remember every detail. The guys just use well-honed skills to do it, but Carrie has a medical condition that won’t let her forget. It’s fun seeing the similarities & differences in the way the types of characters work.

On tonight’s episode, when a crime scene is destroyed in an explosion moments after Carrie catches a glimpse of the room, her memories become a crucial piece of the investigation.

Much like my first choice, my night wouldn’t be complete without my second choice of NCIS: LA. The boys on this show are more along the lines of sexy, as opposed to cute, and the storylines are also beefier on this spin-off. Callen sat down with Hetty at the end of last episode to discuss her knowledge on his family, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s about time Callen learned the truth, and I’m also looking forward to the drama these revelations are going to cause.

Tonight’s episode, “Deadline,” focuses on the murder of a news reporter leading the agents to a Libyan resistance movement. Also, Hetty reveals to Callen some more details about his past.

To ride the emotional rollercoaster with Callen, tune in to CBS at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of NCIS: LA @ Clicker.

Parenthood has captivated viewers since season one and has shown gripping storylines that continue to break boundaries and touch viewers’ hearts. With storylines that are relatable and tug at the heart, Parenthood is a show that you can watch with the entire family. It’s getting rare these days that there are network shows in the nightly TV lineup that families can watch together. With all of the salacious storylines that try to snag younger viewers, this show provides heart, depth, and emotion, which is what viewers really want. Feel comfortable sitting your family down in front of the TV to watch a show that you can watch and discuss together.

Tonight, Kristina receives help from an unexpected source, and Joel and Julia receive news about a possible addition to their family. Meanwhile, Sarah’s ex (guest star John Corbett) threatens her budding relationship with current flame, Mark (Jason Ritter).
