If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/23/11

An exciting note is only a little over a week until Halloween. Anyone dressing up or doing something fun? I’m going to be a zombie for my niece’s haunted party, where I’m helping chaperone. It’s going to be an amazing week in the fabulous world of television, especially due to a couple of new much anticipated shows premiering. Besides those premieres, there is plenty of new TV to keep you happy, no matter what your preference is. Let’s start with tonight.

Megan’s Choice

My favorite part of TV is how it can take you away from reality and to a land where you’re just an observer. ABC’s new drama, Once Upon A Time, premiering tonight is better than most at this task. What could possibly be better than a TV show that borrows from all of your favorite fairy tales? That’s right…Nothing!

“Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison, House) is a bail bondsperson who has had a hard life since being abandoned as a baby. But when Henry—the son she gave up 10 years ago—finds her, everything changes. Henry thinks his mom is actually the long lost daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, and he’s desperate for her to help him fix things. Henry believes that Storybrooke, the sleepy New England town he calls home, is really part of a curse cast by the Evil Queen, freezing fairytale characters in the modern world with no memory of their former selves. Emma is a tough sell on this idea, but when she actually gets to Storybrooke, she senses that there’s more than meets the eye. Henry gives Emma the tour around town with the help of his fairytale book, the town, and its inhabitants, like Henry’s therapist Archie Hopper and the enigmatic Mr. Gold, seem just strange enough to set off her already suspicious nature. She becomes even more concerned for Henry when she meets his adopted mother, Regina, who he suspects is none other than the Evil Queen herself!

Storybrooke is a place where magic lurks, even though it’s been forgotten, and no one seems able to find their happily ever after. In order to understand where the fairytale world’s former inhabitants came from and what ultimately led to the Evil Queen’s wrath, you’ll need a glimpse into their previous lives. Prepare yourself for an awakening. Meanwhile, the epic battle for the future of all worlds, modern and fairytale alike, is about to begin. For good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.”

Of course, it also boasts a fabulous cast of Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), Lana Parrilla (Miami Medical), Robert Carlyle (Stargate Universe), Josh Dallas (Thor), and so many more!

Kowallas have waited all season long for this, and they hope that there will be a HUGE payoff. The season finale of Against the Wall is two hours long, and you know fans are going to get their bang for their buck! It’s been a fantastic season that’s been completely full of drama, romance, and family affairs. Abby has struggled both professionally and personally. Abby’s life has seen a lot of change in it, and viewers have enjoyed every gripping moment. Whether or not the show will get another season is still uncertain. So tonight is the moment with the two hour episode that fans will have to either relish what they were given from a show that’s been a summer break out hit and say goodbye, or they’ll be left hanging in the balance after one hell of a ride and be tortured until season two. Either way, this show is going to showcase a great sendoff!

Tonight on the season finale, Abby and Lina investigate allegations of hazing at a police department recruitment academy, as well as investigate Don’s former partner. Lina worries that her relationship with Abby will change, and Abby’s love triangle begins to boil over!

I have to recommend the final episode of Halloween Wars on Food Network. I’ve really been enjoying this show. The creations these teams come up with are just absolutely brilliant. I’ve only watched a few episodes of Food Network Challenge, and that always impresses me, but I swear, the teams on this show really surpass even that. Especially Team Bling Bats. They amaze me every time.

On tonight’s episode, two teams made up of an expert pumpkin carver, cake decorator, and sugar artist go to battle to create mind-blowing Halloween themed displays of the Underworld. In the end, one team will become the Halloween Wars champion and win a $50,000 grand prize.

Check it out tonight on Food Network at 9/8c. Learn where to find episodes online of Halloween Wars @ Clicker.

I don’t think I even breathed for a full 20 minutes during last week’s season premiere of The Walking Dead. It was so unbelievably tense watching the group of survivors hiding in and under cars as the herd of zombies passed through the traffic jam! I didn’t even want to move on my couch, for fear of alerting the zombies! 🙂 Last week, Sophia went missing, and while the group searched the woods for her, we saw a bullet come through a deer and into Carl! Will Carl survive? And who is out there hunting deer during a zombie apocalypse?! I assumed that tense TV Sundays were over for a while, after with the season finale of Breaking Bad, but AMC is keeping the heart-stopping programming going with this new season of The Walking Dead! I really can’t wait for tonight’s new episode. I think I’ve found my new appointment TV show for Sunday nights!

In tonight’s episode, “Bloodletting,” Rick discovers a possible safe haven, and Shane must go on a dangerous mission to get needed medical supplies.

Drama has taken to the skies in Pan Am, and viewers are transfixed by every single sky high moment. Last week, the ladies had a change in flight and ended up in Rangoon. What seemed like a routine mission for Kate turned into a struggle to make a drop by her deadline, no thanks to her sister Laura. Maggie and Laura had some fun together as Maggie showed Laura a bit of the wilder side to the city. Laura and Kate got into a fight, and Laura decided to move out and live with Maggie, instead. News of a new space mission had Ted reflecting on his past in the military, his dreams of becoming an astronaut, and what his powerful family connections have cost him. Ted and Dean also got into a fight, which led to Dean being punched in the face by Ted. Maybe the skies aren’t so friendly after all.

Tonight, Kate discovers that the man she and Maggie have been competing for is actually involved in her next CIA mission. Also, Dean puts his career at risk when a very attractive passenger tempts him.

The walking Dead was INTENSE last week, I felt like I was going to pass out from the nerves. Such an amazing show. If people are worried about not having watched the first season, fear not I haven’t watched the whole thing yet either. It’s not too hard to figure out what’s going on this season without season one.

I haven’t watched The Walking Dead since the first few episodes. heh Anyway, I wanted to just pop in down here and say I’m so excited about Once Upon a Time. 😀

I watched Once Upon A Time this morning and it was even better than I had imagined! I have been waiting for it since commercials for it had come out. What an engaging storyline, with great acting. I already feel invested after one episode, and I feel protective over the characters. This show makes my top 3 of the season!
