If We Controlled Your Remote… 10/22/12

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Yippee, it’s the start of the work week! While some people might be upset about the debates taking over our televisions tonight, I’m actually thankful for the breather. It gives me an extra two hours that I can use to catch up on my backlog from last week and not be trying to swim against the tide as more new episodes flood onto my TiVo. If your DVR is already empty, check out our suggestions on what to watch during tonight’s single hour of primetime.

Kyle’s Choice

Tonight, the second season of Alphas comes to an end. Last week, Kat and John were transporting Mitchell, when they were attacked by the firestarter, Cipio, and some other bad Alphas. While Parrish got his human hard drive back, the good guys had taken Cipio captive. Dr. Rosen first tried having Nina push Cipio in order to extract information on Parrish’s plans. When that didn’t work, he had Hicks threaten Cipio’s girlfriend. Finally, he resorted to torture, injecting Cipio with adrenaline so that he would start burning himself. Meanwhile, Gary contacted Skyler, helping her out of her drug-induced fantasy state, where Parrish had tricked her into working on blueprints for some evil doomsday device.

I really enjoyed the line last week when Skylar’s daughter asked her mom (played by Summer Glau) if she was some kind of Terminator. That’s one thing I like about this show—no matter how heavy the subject matter, they still take moments to add some levity and lighten the mood. That said, I’m looking forward to tonight’s season finale, which should be action-packed. What is Parrish’s ultimate plan, and will the good guys be able to stop him?!

In tonight’s episode, “God’s Eye,” a desperate and slightly delusional Rosen becomes determined to confront Stanton Parish over Dani’s fate, while the team races against time to keep the Alpha leader’s deadly plan from happening.

Don’t miss the season finale tonight on Syfy at 8/7c. Learn where to find episodes online of Alphas @ Clicker.

Tonight, I’ll also be watching/recording The Voice, Switched at Birth, $24 in 24, and The Inbetweeners.

JJ’s Choice

The battles have been the most boring and frustrating part of the competition on The Voice to me. Sometimes, the coaches put two very strong singers in a battle, and it’s frustrating to see people being forced to leave the competition, while others get to stay. But “The Steal” solves this problem very nicely, and it adds some excitement. As always, Adam has been way too enthusiastic with his steals, but not all steals have been used yet.

On tonight’s episode, “The Battles Continue,” the battles continue as guest mentors continue to help the singers prepare for their head-to-head duets with members of their own team. After coaching the pairs, the judges must decide which singer may move on to the next round of the competition.

Tonight, the battles continue on NBC at 8/7c, and this episode is only one hour long. Learn where to find episodes online of The Voice @ Clicker.

I’ll also be watching 90210, Alphas, and Gossip Girl.
