Tonight is the series premiere of Breaking Borders on Travel Channel at 9/8c. Can breaking bread actually make a difference when it comes to breaking borders? In Travel Channel’s new original series, Peabody Award-winning journalist Mariana van Zeller and acclaimed chef Michael Voltaggio tackle that very question as they travel to conflict zones around the globe. Together, they have a unique and challenging goal: gather people from all sides of the conflict to a delicious meal and talk about the issues that divide them. A thoughtful and informative hour, Breaking Borders is a unique opportunity for those living in the region to share their challenges, concerns and possibilities of a future — through the eyes of the community members whose daily experiences continue to drive international headlines. The series is comprised of 13 one-hour episodes. In each episode, van Zeller and Voltaggio take viewers on a journey to meet residents affected by the unrest. They go into their homes and businesses, uncover their culinary cultures, likes and dislikes and learn how each respective cuisine helps define who they are. As van Zeller digs deeper into the issues, Voltaggio goes on a culinary adventure, collecting ideas and ingredients to create an unbelievable meal inspired by the people he has encountered along the way.

Tonight is the series premiere of iZombie on The CW at 9/8c. Rose McIver (“Masters of Sex,” “Once Upon a Time”) stars as Olivia “Liv” Moore, a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out…until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy. As one of the newly undead, Liv has devised a way to resist her baser urges to devour fresh human brains: she’s taken a job in the Seattle coroner’s office. In this appropriately dead-end job, she can secretly snack on the brains of the many Jane and John Doe corpses that make a final stop in the morgue. Liv remains resigned to an eternity without hope or purpose, until she realizes that with every brain she consumes, she retains a portion of that person’s memories, and she begins to experience visions from the point of view of the murder victims. It’s not the same as being alive again, but at least she can find purpose in her undead existence by helping to solve the murders of those who are indeed fully dead. Aly Michalka, David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin, Molly Hagan, Rahul Kohli, & Robert Buckley also star, and the show was created by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars), who is also executive producer.

As kids, they saw each other’s parents go through divorce and have ever since formed an inseparable bond. Now, all grown up and still single, they’ve decided to start a family of their own, but in a non-traditional way. Lizzy, who is a lesbian, wants to raise a child with Luke by her side. Then one night, Luke falls for Prudence (Kelly Brook, Smallville), a free-spirited British girl who’s due to go back to England in a matter of days. Then, just as Lizzy discovers that she’s actually pregnant, Luke announces that he and Prudence have gotten married and in an instant, a different kind of family is born. Tonight is the series premiere of Walk of Shame Shuttle on VH1 at 9/8c. In this all-new series, VH1 takes an uninhibited ride with hard-partying merrymakers rehashing the previous night’s escapades in the harsh daylight of the following morning. The “Walk of Shame Shuttle” service is the brainchild of undergrad-turned-entrepreneur Kellyann Wargo. Where others simply saw hung-over revelers trudging home after a night of festivities, Wargo found a business model — and an opportunity to make some money while providing an essential service. And so, the “Walk of Shame Shuttle” was born. For the nominal fee of five dollars, Wargo or one of her fellow WOSS drivers (Jordan Pease and Michelle Collins) provide real life partygoers with a ride home the morning after.
Tonight is also the series premiere of Barely Famous on VH1 at 9:30/8:30c. The show features sisters Erin and Sara Foster (multi-hyphenate producers, actresses, and writers and daughters of Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster) offering a tongue-in-cheek perspective on reality TV and life in the Hollywood fast lane. Erin and Sara portray sisters who navigate the treacherous LA waters of career and dating, all while trying to maintain their picture perfect image. The series highlights the most obvious and outlandish conventions of reality TV by centering around two sisters who say they would never do a reality show, but are being filmed by a camera crew. The sisters are followed through their awkward celebrity encounters and efforts to book their next big gig and when things go horribly wrong — as they tend to do — the ladies prove that living the Hollywood lifestyle isn’t easy, even if you’re born into it.
