Tonight is the series premiere of Cucumber on LOGO at 10/9c. Following that is the series premiere of Banana on LOGO at 11/10c. From the writer of Doctor Who and Queer as Folk, Russell T. Davies, comes Logo TV’s two newest series: Cucumber and Banana. The two interwoven drama series will explore 21st century gay life in all its powerful, witty, dark and uplifting guises through the lens of two disparate generations. The hour-long Cucumber will explore the lives and misadventures of Henry Best and his long-suffering boyfriend of nine years, Lance Sullivan. The half-hour Banana will follow the individual lives of younger characters orbiting around Henry’s world, telling stories of modern love — the romantic, the obsessed, the hopeful, the lonely, the lost, and the lucky.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Outback Nation on FYI at 10/9c. Overgrown gardens, decaying decks, unkempt pools and more prevent families from enjoying their own backyards. In each episode, a new family will enlist Jamie’s help to reinvent their outdoor space and turn it into the backyard paradise they have always dreamed of. Before tackling the transformation with Jamie, each family will immerse themselves in their own “private wilderness,” camping out in their backyard and experiencing the terrain firsthand. From design mishaps to wild animal encounters, the families will be presented with many challenges on the journey to complete their backyard renovation. Each member of the family will also be assigned their own special project to work on, while Jamie comes up with a secret design project of his own to surprise the family with. Tapping into the trend of turning backyard spaces into outside living rooms – each family’s outdoor space will go through complete overhauls, from gutting shrubbery to pouring cement for a new patio. Viewers will learn renovation tips and design elements that could be incorporated into their own outdoor spaces.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Rivermen on History Channel at 10/9c. From Alaska’s Copper River to the East Coast’s 3,000-mile intracoastal waterway, America has over 250,000 rivers that span more than 3.5 million miles. Each body of water is a unique, ever-changing and unpredictable environment. For those daring few who make these rivers their permanent home, it’s often their grit, ingenuity and adaptability that keep them alive. Whether it’s modifying their homemade vessel to navigate storms, using unconventional methods to save their boats from certain destruction, harvesting food from the occasionally sparse environment or risking bodily harm in thrashing whitewater, these “river hackers” must overcome all that nature throws at them, or risk perishing in the merciless wild. The show chronicles four unique journeys across drastically different American rivers. These rugged men work tirelessly to survive the frequent challenges and grave dangers of life on the water, while struggling for their very existence. These are not weekend warriors or casual adventurers. These are experienced river men living aboard their vessels in search of freedom and risking everything on their quest to thrive along these incredible American waterways.

Tonight is the series premiere of Good Work on E! at 10/9c. On this new show, hosts RuPaul, Dr. Terry Dubrow, and Sandra Vergara celebrate the “good work” and the “not so good work” of Hollywood celebs. Each week, the three hosts will break down every aspect of celebrity beauty secrets, cosmetic procedures, and plastic surgery — who’s had what done and who’s doing it wrong. The show will leave no stone unturned when these three insiders amp up the water cooler conversation and get to bottom of what everyone else is already talking about.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Arranged on FYI at 10:15/9:15c. Three couples from different cultural backgrounds have one thing in common – the belief in arranged marriages. From a young Romani gypsy couple in New York City, to a southern couple from the Bible belt, to a couple raised by traditional Eastern Indian parents living in Los Angeles – these brides and grooms don’t just marry each other, their unions include their entire family. Viewers will see each couple’s relationship from the lead-up to their weddings, to the several months after the reality of married life sinks in. Even though the marriages stemmed from the heart of their culture, the marital stakes are heightened as the couples do not have the level of intimacy common in most modern marriages. For some, it will be tough to give up their independence and their new roles as husband and wife prove to be more than they bargained for. Pregnancy scares, money concerns and over-protective parents will add even more stress to an already overwhelming situation. Viewers will learn compelling relationship advice as they watch these unique journeys and find out if these couples hold the key to a long-lasting marriage by being arranged.

Tonight is the series premiere of Cedric’s Barber Battle on The CW at 8/7c. Hosted by actor and comedian Cedric The Entertainer, the show sets out to capture the unique barbering culture in a hilariously unfiltered, no-holds-barred arena. Creating hair sculptures that feature elaborate designs, ranging from images of a person’s face to grand cityscapes, the barbers will use nothing more than their clippers and a few coloring tools to create intricate works of art that are both imaginative and location-centric.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Messengers on The CW at 9/8c. A mysterious object plummets to Earth, sending out a shock wave that causes five strangers to perish, only to miraculously come back to life moments later. The group includes Vera (Shantel VanSanten), a struggling radio-astronomer searching for her missing son; Erin (Sofia Black-D’Elia), a young mother desperate to protect her seven year old daughter (guest star Madison Dellamea) from an abusive ex-husband (guest star Lane Garrison); Peter (Joel Courtney), a troubled high school student; Raul (JD Pardo), a federal agent looking to escape his dangerous and violent undercover assignment; and Joshua (Jon Fletcher), a charismatic second-generation televangelist. Most mysterious of all is the figure known only as The Man (Diogo Morgado), who offers Vera the one thing she wants most in life — if she will help him with one morally complicated task which puts her on a collision course with Rose (Anna Diop), a nurse who has been in a coma for seven years. Drawn together by fate and biblical prophecy, the “Messengers” soon learn they have supernatural gifts that might be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture. Craig Frank also stars.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Angry Planet on Pivot at 10/9c. The show follows all-new adventures for George Kourounis who comes face-to-face with the stark effects of the Earth’s evolving climate. Traveling to some of the most remote places around the globe, Kourounis gets up close and personal with the changing environment that is directly impacting our ever-increasing weather calamities.
