Kyle’s Choice
I had forgotten how much I had missed USA Network’s comedy, Playing House, until I watched last week’s season premiere. The second season picked up about 4 months after the first. Emma and “Bird Bones” finally made their peace, so Mark no longer had to visit Emma and baby Charlotte in secret. After Maggie admitted to having a sex dream with the “Property Brothers†(which was hilarious to watch), Emma decided she was ready to get back into the dating world and set her up with a Tinder profile. After some disastrous rapid-fire dates, Maggie finally met nice guy Dan (Kyle Bornheimer), and the two really hit it off.
Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair have such great chemistry together, and the longtime friendship between these actresses really shows in the series. It’s tough to tell what is ad-libbed and what is scripted because all of the fun dialogue and banter feels so natural. This show always keep me smiling from start to finish — it’s a shame that the season is just 8 episodes long!
USA Network is making the following week’s episode available On Demand after each new episode airs, so you can already find tonight’s episode there if you want to watch it early. I couldn’t wait! 🙂
On tonight’s episode, “Cashmere Burka,” Maggie agrees to direct a play written by Gwen; and Emma gets hot and heavy with a new flame.

My pick tonight is the grand finale of the Chopped Grill Masters tournament. I’ve really enjoyed the tournament because there’ve been some really great, interesting, and insane ingredients that the contestants had to grill or smoke. They didn’t make it easy on them by giving them a simple steak or chicken. There’s been fruit (which grills very well, for the most part!), huge steaks, racks of lamb, etc etc. Some were pretty self-explanatory for the chefs, but some definitely stumped them. So tonight, it’ll be interesting to see what the ingredients are and which chef walks away with the $50,000 prize.
On tonight’s episode, “Grill Masters: Grand Finale,†rattlesnake is the surprise in the first round; offal and some fruit are part of the culinary puzzle to solve in the entrée round; a breakfast item and a classic pie combination in the last round.
