Tonight is the series premiere of The Guilty on PBS at 10/9c. Moving between two time lines, 2008 and the present day, The Guilty tells the story of DCI Maggie Brand (Tamsin Greig) who investigates the disappearance of little Callum Reid. Summer 2008. Claire and Daniel Reid revel in the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of an annual neighbourhood barbecue, surrounded by family and friends. Amidst the noise and chaos of the party, their son Callum plays contentedly. But as the night draws on, copious amounts of alcohol are consumed, tempers flare and an ugly, violent scene rapidly changes the mood of the evening. In the hours following the barbecue, Callum goes missing and nothing is ever the same again. Five years on, Arcadian Gardens is a very different place. Lives were torn apart and even after all this time the wounds are still raw. Then, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of his disappearance, Callum’s body is discovered, buried only yards from his own front door, and the nightmare begins all over again. DCI Maggie Brand leads the new investigation. Pregnant when Callum went missing, debilitating morning sickness had forced her to step down from the original investigation. Her son, Sam, was born only a few months after Callum disappeared. Driven by her obsession to discover what happened to Callum, Maggie leaves no stone unturned, and in the process, risks her own happy family life.

Tonight is the series premiere of Supergirl on CBS at 8:31/7:31c. This action-adventure drama is based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Black Ink Crew: Chicago on VH1 at 9/8c. Watch as several talented tattoo artists look to find success at “9Mag” — a tattoo mecca for hip hop elites, celebrities and athletes. The series, produced by Big Fish Entertainment, follows a passionate and ambitious group of friends through the unforgiving streets of Chicago as they band together to create new identities for themselves, their families and their business.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Cursed: The Bell Witch on A&E at 10/9c. The show follows the personal journey of John Ceallach, a direct descendant of the Bell Witch curse; one of the oldest and most legendary ghost stories in America. Ceallach believes that this curse has befallen several generations of his family and he is on the hunt to reverse it before it reaches his only son. Legend has it that in the early 1800s, a Tennessee landowner named John Bell had a child out of wedlock with a local witch named Kate Batts. To cover his tracks, it is believed he murdered her and in turn she cursed his family bloodline from her grave; the first-born male of each generation would either be driven insane or suffer a mysterious, untimely death. Since then, five Bell men are reported to have suffered this fate and today, John Ceallach, a direct descendent of John Bell, finds that his 14-year-old son could be next in line. Ceallach and his best friend Chad Higgenbotham, both armed with expert military experience, will embark on a haunted investigation as they enlist the help of psychics, shamans, paranormal investigators and demonologists to get to the bottom of the curse that has plagued John’s family for generations. In the end, they hope to find the origin of the curse and the closure needed for this long-standing spell to be broken.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Follow the Rules on MTV at 10/9c. This comedic half-hour docu-series is centered around Grammy nominated rapper turned actor, Ja Rule, and the hectic household that he and his wife Aisha are trying to keep under control. With their two sons, Jeffery Jr. and Jordan, as well as Ja’s mother and mother-in-law living under one roof, the house that Rule built is anything but quiet. The couple’s oldest daughter, Brittney, just about to start her sophomore year at college, is always pushing the boundaries. Though they’ve been through a lot and don’t always agree when it comes to their modern parenting styles, Ja and Aisha always manage to keep their family together with love and laughter. Ultimately one things for sure, when you’re in their house, you better “follow the Rules.”

Tonight is also the series premiere of Food: Fact or Fiction? on Cooking Channel at 10:30/9:30c. Ever wonder if coffee really does stunt your growth, or if a bowl of hot chicken soup can actually cure the common cold? Or if Italians were the first to invent pizza? Host Michael McKean explores longstanding adages about food to prove as well as debunk some of the most fascinating food myths on the new show. From the truth about the most popular food remedies, to the dish on our favorite romantic recipes and aphrodisiacs, and to the real scoop about food’s influence on some of the world’s most famous battles, discover some tasty truths and some mouth-watering mysteries hidden in every bite! A spoonful of fact and a dash of fiction that have flavored our favorite dishes will be revealed. One episode takes a look at “the most important meal of the day” to explore where that age-old saying about breakfast came from, and whether or not it is really true. Get ready to wake up and smell the facts, as we discover how our morning meals have come to taste so sinfully delicious. In another episode, we take a trip around the food globe to get to discover where beloved international dishes were really born. French Fries are fried, but are they really French? Every Chinese restaurant marks the end of the meal with fortune cookies, but was this crunchy treat really invented in China? Viewers will be stunned as we uncover the facts and the fiction about food.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Super Into on TruTV at 10:30/9:30c. Hosted by Kevin Pereira, each half-hour asks our favorite celebrities to take us inside their private passions — from Rob Corddry and astronomy, including a ride on a zero gravity plane, to Diablo Cody and rollercoasters. This fun and raucous ride not only lets viewers see how each celeb geeks out on everything from sneakers to marijuana to motorcycles, but each episode is packed with short animations and stylized videos that will dive even deeper into the cool history, science and psychology behind each topic. Additional guest stars include Michelle Rodriguez (motorcycles), Margaret Cho (marijuana), Kesha (animal conservation), and Nick Young (sneakers).

Tonight is the series premiere of Top Chef Canada on Esquire at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9/8c. This show aired on Food Network in Canada back in 2011, so this is the series premiere here in the US. Much like the US counterpart, Canada’s best and brightest chefs face off in a series of adrenaline-pumping challenges that test them mentally, physically, and emotionally in order to win the title of Canada’s Top Chef and a huge cash prize.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Fix My Mom on Oxygen at 9/8c. Five vibrant mother-daughter pairs go on a rollercoaster journey to mend their broken bonds before the damage is irreparable and the relationship is destroyed. With the guidance of life coach Laura Baron, the ladies will be put to the test through specifically designed exercises to get to the root of their issues and fix what they hold most dear.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Wicked City on ABC at 10/9c. Welcome to Los Angeles, circa 1982, during the rock ‘n’ roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. But all is not glitter as there’s a serial killer on the loose, and two detectives find themselves on one of the toughest cases of their careers. Many young women come to Hollywood with dreams of becoming a star. And the Sunset Strip was totally the happening place to be seen and make some connections. But you can’t come to the City of Angels without bumping into some evil. Detectives Jack Roth (Jeremy Sisto) and new partner Paco Contreras (Gabriel Luna) are assigned to track down a killer who preys on women seeking fame in the City of Angels. Their perp, unbeknownst to them, is Kent Grainger (Ed Westwick), a tragic soul who craves attention and goes on a murderous rampage to obtain notoriety. Jack and Paco get a break when they stumble upon Karen McClaren (Taissa Farmiga), a young, struggling journalist who may have met the killer at a club and could I.D. him — but she may also be his next target. Meanwhile, Kent has found himself a young woman who may be his “Bonnie” to his twisted “Clyde” in the form of Betty Beaumontaine (Erika Christensen), a nurse and single mother of two with a bit of a sadistic twist. Alliances will be formed between detectives, reporters, drug dealers and club-goers to help solve this case and get this nut job off the street. But the clock is ticking as Kent continues to set his sights on the innocent, and Jack and Paco will go to any means necessary to hunt down and capture this scumbag — dead or alive. The show also stars Karolina Wydra as Dianne Kubek, Evan Ross as Diver Hawkes, Anne Winters as Vicki Roth, and Jaime Ray Newman as Allison Roth.

Saturday

Saturday is the series premiere of Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz at 9/8c. This is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead. Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons -personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip. The show also stars Dana DeLorenzo, Jill Marie Jones, Lucy Lawless, Mimi Rogers, and Ray Santiago.
