If We Controlled Your Remote… 1/21/16

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Kyle’s Choice

legendsoftomorrowsmallTonight, the DC TV universe gets a little bit bigger – and a lot more timey-wimey – as The CW kicks off DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. This series has been a long time coming. It seems like much of the current seasons of The Flash and Arrow have been spent getting the pieces in place for this spin-off.

The series centers around time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill, Doctor Who), who assembles a team of heroes and villains to help prevent the world’s destruction. If you’ve been watching the other DC shows on The CW, this new super-powered group will look very familiar: Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber, Alias) & Jax Jackson (Franz Drameh) – who together form Firestorm – The Atom (Brandon Routh, Chuck), White Canary (Caity Lotz, Arrow), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell, Prison Break) & Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller, Prison Break), and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) & Hawkman (Falk Hentschel).

I can’t wait to see how this team comes together, what kind of time-bending adventures await them, and how it will tie into the DC TV universe. I’m also curious to see how Vandal Savage managed to survive after his last confrontation with members of this superteam…and what kind of evil plan he is hatching now.

On tonight’s episode, “Pilot, Part 1,” Time Master Rip Hunter puts together his diverse team to fight immortal villain Vandal Savage, who is on the verge of destroying humanity in 2166.

Check out the new group of crime fighters tonight on The CW at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Life in Pieces, Angel from Hell, Heroes Reborn, The Blacklist, The 100, Baskets, Top Chef, Recipe for Deception, Colony, Workaholics, and Idiotsitter.

recipefordeceptionsmallEveryone knows I love cooking competition shows. I also love game shows. So combine the two, and I’ve gotta love it. Cutthroat Kitchen is a bit like that, and I’m hoping tonight’s new show on Bravo is as well. Recipe for Deception stars Max Silvestri as host and Chris Oh and Jonathan Waxman as judges. Silvestri guides four chefs through three head-to-head elimination rounds, in which they have to create a stunning dish featuring a main ingredient. With me so far? The twist is they have no idea what that ingredient is while they’re cooking. Based on the popular game “Two Truths and a Lie,” competing chefs ask each other three yes or no questions to determine what their mystery ingredient is, and their opponent answers with two truthful answers and one big fat lie. The judges will grade the chefs on their final dishes based on overall quality and how well they incorporate their secret ingredient. In the last round, eliminated chefs have a chance to work their way back into the competition by trading potentially valuable information about the undisclosed ingredient for a chance at the $10,000 prize.

This could end up being really weird or silly or hard to understand, but I’m hoping it’ll be a lot of fun!

On tonight’s episode, “Cooks Can Be Deceiving,” four chefs face off to see who can cook the best dish for two elite judges. They each have a secret ingredient that they must figure out. The catch? Only their rival chef knows the ingredient. Can they decode the lies and deceive their way to gastronomic glory?

Check out this fun new premise tonight on Bravo at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Top Chef, Angel from Hell, Beat Bobby Flay, & Colony.

Megan’s Choice

heroesreborn121smallTonight is the series finale of Heroes Reborn, which is very disappointing and yet exciting at the same time. When I heard that NBC decided not to continue the miniseries after this season, I was very upset because this miniseries has been exciting and interesting every single episode. I’m really hopeful that Tommy and Malina will live up to their potential to save the world, but I’m also hoping that Erica meets her much deserved end tonight as well. The greatest hope I have is that the writers will make sure to wrap it up neatly tonight so that we aren’t left confused and upset.

On tonight’s finale, “Project Reborn,” the world’s end approaches as Tommy faces his greatest challenge, and Erica takes drastic measures to ensure her plan’s success. Meanwhile, Malina tries to fulfill a prophecy to save the world, and Emily and Ren search for Miko.

Join in for the last episode of this great series tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Mom, Angel from Hell, Beat Bobby Flay, Shades of Blue, and Elementary.
