Tonight is the series premiere of Lucifer on FOX at 9/8c. Based upon the characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, this is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis, Merlin) has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub. Charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux. For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, Mazikeen aka Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt, The Librarians), a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman. The murder attracts the attention of LAPD homicide detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German, Chicago Fire), who initially is dismissive of Lucifer. But she becomes intrigued by his talent for drawing out people’s secrets and his desire to dispense justice, doling out punishment to those who deserve it. As they work together to solve the pop star’s murder, Lucifer is struck by Chloe’s inherent goodness. Accustomed to dealing with the absolute worst of humanity, Lucifer is intrigued by Chloe’s apparent purity and begins to wonder if there’s hope for his own soul yet. At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel Amenadiel (DB Woodside, Suits, 24), has been sent to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to the underworld… Can the Devil incarnate be tempted toward the side of Good, or will his original calling pull him back toward Evil?

Tonight is also the 70-minute series premiere of The Magicians on Syfy at 9/8c, followed a 2nd new (1-hour) episode at 10:10/9:10c. Starring Jason Ralph (Quentin Coldwater), Stella Maeve (Julia), Olivia Taylor Dudley (Alice), Hale Appleman (Eliot), Arjun Gupta (Penny) and Summer Bishil (Margo), The Magicians is based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling novels. The series centers on Quentin, a brilliant grad student chosen to attend Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic. He and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real – and poses grave danger to humanity.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Recovery Road on Freeform at 9/8c. Based on the popular young adult novel by Blake Nelson, the show focuses on a teenage girl dealing with addiction. Maddie has a reputation as a party girl who doesn’t think she has a problem, until she’s confronted one day by her school guidance counselor and is forced to choose between expulsion and rehab. Maddie makes the difficult decision to live with other recovering addicts at a sober living facility while facing the daily pressures of her teenage life. Recovery Road stars Jessica Sula, Alexis Carra, Sebastian De Souza, Daniel Franzese, Sharon Leal, Kyla Pratt, and David Witts.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Stevie J & Joseline Go Hollywood on VH1 at 9/8c. The series will follow the fiery couple from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta as they hit the West Coast with their sights set on Hollywood stardom. With Stevie J’s five children in tow — it’s a family affair! Stevie J’s head is in the game and he’s ready to leave the party scene in ATL behind. Fully focused on creating new music in Los Angeles, he is heading back into the studio to produce music with Diddy and The Hitmen Crew. He is also trying his hand as a film producer. Joseline Hernandez refuses to let Stevie J have all the fun in La La Land. Heading out west on her own, she aims to introduce the Hollywood scene to her own brand of spicy pop. Tonight is the series premiere of You, Me, and the Apocalypse on NBC at 8/7c. This hourlong comedic drama is based on the critically applauded UK dramedy. When the news is announced that a comet is on an unavoidable collision course with Earth, the most hilarious and unexpected chain of events imaginable is set in motion. Against a backdrop of apocalyptic chaos, an eclectic group of seemingly unconnected characters around the world begin to intersect in the most unexpected ways, resulting in a nonstop mix of action, romance and wit. The story follows an unusual assortment of mismatched characters, each coping with the impending end of the world in his or her own bizarre way. Perhaps the most complex is Father Jude (Rob Lowe, Parks and Recreation), a rebellious and foul-mouthed priest who is tasked with being the “devil’s advocate” with the aid of his new timid assistant, Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro, Cugino e Cugino). Rhonda (Jenna Fischer, The Office), a mild-mannered librarian, finds herself dangerously out of her depth when she is sent to a maximum security prison for a crime she did not commit. She unwillingly befriends Leanne (Megan Mullally, Will & Grace), an unhinged white supremacist who takes a deeply reluctant Rhonda under her wing. Morally dubious, but intensely loyal, Leanne is a woman uniquely suited to surviving the end times and will prove herself to be exactly the sidekick Rhonda needs. Then there is Jamie (Mathew Baynton Yonderland), the humble bank manager from Slough who is hopelessly stuck in a rut and still in mourning over the mysterious disappearance of his wife seven years ago. Spurred into action as a result of the impending apocalypse, he embarks on a perilous quest to find his loved one. There are 34 days until the comet collides with Earth and some of these misfits are destined to make it to a bunker deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough. As a result, they will become the incredibly unlikely, and totally unsuitable, future of mankind. Wouldn’t that be a disaster! The cast also includes Joel Fry, Paterson Joseph, Pauline Quirke, and Kyle Stoller.

Tonight is the series premiere of Deadliest Job Interview on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. The show will spotlight eight of the most extreme and perilous professions in the world. Told from the perspective of the rookies, or “greenhorns,” the show will follow these tough men and women as they enter the workforce of eight dangerous jobs, as they risk everything to secure a highly challenging — and dangerous — position. This six episode series follows arborists climbing 200 feet high in the Redwood Forest, acrobatic bush pilots in the savanna of South Africa, extreme heavy haul truckers through America’s heartland, iron erectors hundreds of feet up in the air, construction divers underwater in the depths of the Pacific, volcanologists climbing to the top of the explosive Stromboli, and wind turbine technicians in some of the windiest conditions on Earth. With the threat of danger around every corner, there is no room for mistakes. These rookies must learn the ropes as the lowest person on the totem pole and prove their skills and determination to their mentors and peers. The stakes are higher than ever because it’s not just their job on the line — but also their lives!

Saturday

Saturday is the series premiere of #killerpost on Oxygen at 9/8c. The show profiles true stories of the most jaw-dropping and shocking cases where social media activity has had dangerous and deadly consequences. Although the crimes differ in nature, they all share a common theme – social media posts were the catalysts for deadly repercussions. Through cinematic reenactments of both the crimes and stories behind them – coupled with witness testimonies and expert interviews – each pulse-pounding episode will feature extreme cases in which a post, a poke or even a tweet led to a violent and even deadly result. From a seemingly innocent online connection that ends in homicide to an online feud between best friends that leads to a public physical altercation, viewers will witness how the boundaries between the real and online world are breaking down with shocking results and sometimes fatal outcomes.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Deadly Shootouts on Reelz at 10/9c. Time stands still when bullets fly and answers lie hidden beneath the settling smoke. The greatest gunfights and their notorious characters come to life in Deadly Shootouts. From the wild shootout at the O.K. Corral seen in Tombstone to Bonnie and Clyde’s infamous rampage depicted countless times in TV and movies, the series exposes the truth behind the conflicts that have inspired Hollywood. The bloodstained pages of history are written by the hands of those left standing through modern ballistic tests, forensic analysis and stylized recreations of the most famous shootouts of all time.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Zombie House Flipping on FYI at 10/9c. The show explores the recent trend of house flippers scooping up foreclosed and often abandoned “zombie houses” and renovating them to return neighborhoods to their former glory. Millennial house flipper Justin Stamper and his team of renovators have found a solution to the abandoned, rundown homes in Florida. As the “Robin Hoods of Real Estate” in Orlando, Justin and his team buy and fix up dilapidated, sometimes bank-owned homes, making big money in the process — but of course, not without difficulties along the way. From leaking roofs and the threat of sinkholes, to electrical fires and poorly piped Florida “McMansions,” there is never a dull moment with this group of house-flipping mavericks.

Finally, tonight is also the season premiere of Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel at 9/8c.
