Tonight, TNT’s family crime drama Animal Kingdom returns for its third season. Last season, the guys started to wonder why they were doing all the work and their mother, Smurf, was taking a huge cut, so they decided to do things on their own. This left J in the middle – he felt loyalty to both his uncles and his grandmother. Meanwhile, Baz was convinced that it was Smurf who killed his wife, so he planted evidence and arranged for Smurf to get arrested for another murder. He also stole all of the money that Smurf had been hiding from her sons and stashed it behind the walls of his home. While in prison, Smurf gave J the power of attorney over her affairs, as he was the only one she trusted. As the season ended, Baz and his girlfriend Lucy were about to take a trip to Mexico when someone approached their truck and put four bullets through the windshield and into Baz. As Baz lay on the ground bleeding out, Lucy ran away and cleared out all of the hidden money.

Will Baz survive his attack, and who arranged the hit? Did Lucy do it to get her hands on the money, and where did she move it to? Did Smurf arrange this as retaliation from jail? After all, Baz is her adopted son, while the others are all blood relatives. Did Pope, Craig, or Deran arrange the hit on their brother? Or was J responsible for getting the man he thinks might be his father shot? Who will step up to be the new leader of the group if Baz is out of commission? And how will Smurf manage to get herself out of prison? Also, Denis Leary joins the cast for season three, so I’m looking forward to seeing what awaits the Cody crime family this season!

On tonight’s premiere, “The Killing,” Baz fights for his life as the Cody boys figure out their next move in the aftermath of the shooting; Smurf gets some surprising news in jail and fields an offer from Pearce.

Catch up with life with the Codys tonight on TNT at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Arrested Development, Legion, Chrisley Knows Best, and 100 Code.

I’m happy because tonight is really the start of summer TV for me, which begins with the season premiere of America’s Got Talent. I always look forward to this show for all the fun, different acts that come on, not just the singers or dancers. My favorites are probably all the different kind of magicians. This season, all the judges (Mel B, Heidi, Howie, & Simon) are back, as well as host Tyra Banks. And let’s not forget the Golden Buzzer, which gives each judge a chance to buzz one lucky contest apiece straight into the live shows.

On tonight’s 2-hour premiere, “Auditions 1,” it’s the first night of auditions, where acts will compete in order to gain their place in the race to win the $1 million prize.

Catch all the auditions tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped & World of Dance.

It is a little bittersweet that our regular shows have gone on hiatus, because while I already miss so many of them, I am ecstatic that my summer favourites are returning now. Tonight is the second season premiere of World of Dance – which became my favorite dance competition show last summer. Jennifer Lopez is incredible as a judge, and Ne-Yo is not only a kind judge but very easy on the eyes. I thoroughly enjoy watching these judges rate the talented dancers, but I also enjoy watching the positive coaching they impart on the competitors. Once again, Jennifer, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough judge and are joined by actress and dancer Jenna Dewan as host/mentor.

On tonight’s episode, “The Qualifiers, Round 1,” the world’s most elite dance acts from all ages and arena to face off in the challenge of a lifetime. The acts have one chance to showcase their artistry, precision, and athleticism in order to move forward in the competition and ultimately win a grand prize of $1 million dollars.

To see if the talent can top last year’s, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching America’s Got Talent.
