Tonight is the series premiere of REL on FOX at 8/7c. Based on the life of Lil Rel Howery (Get Out, Insecure, The Carmichael Show), REL is a multi-camera comedy starring Howery as a loving husband and father living on the West Side of Chicago, who finds out his wife is having an affair. And not just any affair. An affair with Rel’s own barber. Quite easily the worst person for your wife to sleep with, because as hard it is to find a good spouse, it’s even harder to find a reliable barber. Plus, with the barbershop being one of the epicenters of neighborhood gossip, Rel finds his embarrassing business is known by everyone, including the Pastor (also played by Howery), before Rel can even process the emotions himself. Offering Rel support — that is, when they themselves aren’t butting heads — are Rel’s tough-talking, no-B.S. best friend, Brittany (Jess “Hilarious” Moore, Wild ‘N Out), and his recently out-of-jail younger brother, Nat (Jordan L. Jones, NCIS: LA, Wisdom of the Crowd), as well as Rel’s prideful dad (Sinbad, A Different World, The Sinbad Show, Jingle All The Way), who perhaps has taken the barber news even harder than Rel. After his beloved kids move to Cleveland with their mom, Rel must begin the difficult task of rebuilding his life as a long-distance dad. He also jumps back into the dating pool — and often finds himself the victim of his own well-intentioned hubris. But, ever the optimist, he continues his search for love, respect…and a new barber.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The Miniaturist on PBS at 9/8c. In 1686, 18-year-old Nella Oortman (Anya Taylor-Joy, Split, The Witch) arrives in Amsterdam to meet her wealthy merchant husband Johannes Brandt (Alex Hassell, Genius: Picasso), but is instead met by his sister Marin (Romola Garai, Churchill’s Secret, The Hour). When Johannes appears, he presents her with a wedding gift: a cabinet that is a miniature replica of their home, to be furnished by an elusive Miniaturist, whose tiny creations mirror what is happening within the house in unexpected ways and seem to be predicting and unraveling the future with unsettling precision. As Nella begins to uncover its secrets and those of the Brandt household she realizes the escalating dangers that await them all. Does the Miniaturist hold their fate in her hands? And will she be the key to their salvation or the architect of their downfall?

Tonight is also the series premiere of Ashlee+Evan on E! at 10/9c. The cinematic docu-drama follows Ashlee Simpson-Ross and Evan Ross as they juggle their lives as soul mates, parents, musicians and artists. With the addition of their eclectic group of friends and famous family who fill their abode with laughter and love, there’s never a dull moment in this young duo’s household. The non-stop life of Ashlee and Evan will showcase the modern day millennial renaissance couple raising a family while building on a burgeoning career.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Kidding on Showtime at 10/9c. In his first series regular role in over two decades, Jim Carrey stars as Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles, an icon of children’s television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. But when this beloved personality’s family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairy tale, fable or puppet will guide him through the crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: a kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Scariest Night of My Life on Travel Channel at 10/9c. Victims of paranormal mayhem unlock their most frightening and unnerving memories as they recount the nights that they thought they’d never survive.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of You on Lifetime at 10/9c. Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name and starring Penn Badgley, this is a 21st century love story that asks, “What would you do for love?” When a brilliant bookstore manager crosses paths with an aspiring writer, his answer becomes clear: anything. Using the internet and social media as his tools to gather the most intimate of details and get close to her, a charming and awkward crush quickly becomes obsession as he quietly and strategically removes every obstacle – and person – in his way. The series also stars Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Zach Cherry, and Shay Mitchell, with a special guest appearance by John Stamos.
