Tonight is the series premiere of In the Dark on The CW at 9/8c. Murphy is a hard-living, hard-drinking, disaffected twentysomething with a penchant for cigarettes and casual sex. She’s also blind. Murphy lives with her understanding roommate, Jess, and more reluctantly also lives with her guide dog, Pretzel, whose presence she resents. Her parents, Hank and Joy, own a guide dog school, a venture they opened hoping it would give Murphy a job with some purpose, but so far it’s just another place where she sleeps off her hangovers, much to the particular chagrin of Joy and Felix, the school administrator tasked with attempting to keep the unprofitable school going. Murphy’s closest friend is a sweet teenager named Tyson. Tyson and Murphy became friends after he saved her from a violent mugging, and his kindness and intelligence are currently going to waste as he deals drugs on the street for his older cousin, Darnell. Then Murphy’s life comes crashing down when, while out for a walk with Pretzel, she stumbles upon what she’s sure is the lifeless body of Tyson in the alley outside her apartment. But when the police arrive, including a charming detective named Dean, there is no body to be found — and with Murphy not exactly sober, the police aren’t especially inclined to investigate. Murphy is devastated, and is only held back from spiraling downward even further by her resolve to learn what happened to Tyson. With the help of Jess — and Pretzel — Murphy is determined to find the truth, no matter the risk…even if it means she has to sober up a little. The show stars Perry Mattfeld, Brooke Markham, Keston John, Kathleen York, Derek Webster, and Morgan Krantz.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The American Farm on History Channel at 10/9c. The eight-part series is an honest tale of risk, reward, hard work, and innovation, centered on the lives of five family farms across America — the Boyd, Griggs, Meyers, Robertson and Sunderland farms. America’s farmers are heroes who gamble every last dollar on their own two hands, who wage war every day against an unrelenting assault from Mother Nature and who toil on dangerous machines for backbreaking 20+ hour shifts. Shot on location across the country, the show is an authentic portrait of the fight to go from seed to stalk, and from farm to fork. It presents an up-close look at one full year of family farming, told through an unprecedented year on the ground, capturing breathtaking visuals, private moments and personal interviews.

Tonight is the series premiere of Unspeakable on Sundance Channel at 12AM/11PMc. Created by Robert C. Cooper (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, Stargate SG-1) and based on first-person experience, Unspeakable chronicles the emergence of HIV and Hepatitis C in Canada in the early 1980s. Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead, Prison Break) stars as a whistleblower who exposes one of the largest medical disasters in history and the tragedy that resulted after thousands of people were infected by tainted blood. The show also stars Aaron Douglas, Brian Markinson, Camille Sullivan, David Lewis, Levi Meaden, Michael Shanks, & Shawn Doyle.

Finally, tonight is the complete first season premiere of Our Planet on Netflix at 3:01AM/2:01AMc. The groundbreaking, eight-part series will showcase the planet’s most precious species and fragile habitats, revealing amazing sights on Earth in ways they’ve never been seen using the latest in 4k camera technology. The ambitious four-year project has been filmed in 50 countries across all the continents of the world, with crew capturing more than three and a half thousand filming days, and will focus on the breadth of the diversity of habitats around the world, from the remote Arctic wilderness and mysterious deep oceans to the vast landscapes of Africa and diverse jungles of South America. Sir David Attenborough, Penelope Cruz, & Salma Hayek narrate.

Now, Dave is planning a spectacular return to gold mining, as he searches for a lost and abandoned mine to resurrect, and chase the gold the old-timers left behind. Using his expertise, and the backing of financiers, Dave is on a mission to become his own mine boss and make his fortune. The show will follow Dave’s search for the one abandoned mine that he’s willing to risk everything for and will air exclusively on the Discovery GO platform, which is free to viewers with their cable subscription. Dave will explore the history of each mine and prospect the land to figure out which mine could see him win big. The search will culminate with Dave picking the one abandoned mine he can turn into newfound riches.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Warrior on Cinemax at 10/9c. Starring Andrew Koji (Fast & Furious 6) as martial arts prodigy Ah Sahm, Warrior also features series regulars Kieran Bew (The Street), Olivia Cheng (Marco Polo), Dianne Doan (Vikings), Dean Jagger (Game of Thrones), Langley Kirkwood (Invictus), Hoon Lee (Banshee), Christian McKay (Me and Orson Welles), Joe Taslim (Fast & Furious 6), Jason Tobin (The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift), Joanna Vanderham (The Paradise), Tom Weston-Jones (Copper), and Perry Yung (The Knick). This is a gritty, action-packed crime drama set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the second half of the 19th century. The series follows Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a hatchet man for the Hope Wei, one of Chinatown’s most powerful tongs (Chinese organized crime family). Befriended by Wang Chao (Hoon Lee), a fixer and profiteer in Chinatown, Ah Sahm is taken under the wing of Young Jun (Jason Tobin), the hard-partying son of the Hop Wei’s leader, Father Jun (Perry Yung), who is facing an imminent opium war with a rival tong. As he is indoctrinated in the rules of Chinatown gangs, Ah Sahm wins the confidence of a canny brothel madam, Ah Toy (Olivia Cheng), revealing to her the true intentions of his journey to America.
