Bring the FunnyI loved Last Comic Standing, so when I heard about the new comedy competition, Bring the Funny, I was thrilled, especially when I learned that Jeff Foxworthy, Kenan Thompson, & Chrissy Teigen are involved as judges. Hosted by comedian Amanda Seales, the show is search for the funniest comedy act. Throughout the competition, the best of the best stand-ups, sketch troupes, and comedic variety acts, from solo comics to musicians, magicians, podcasters, puppeteers, YouTubers, and more…anyone who can make audiences laugh will have the chance to receive the career-changing $250,000 prize package and see their name in lights in the “Bring the Funny” showcase.

On tonight’s episode, “The Open Mic 1,” sketch, variety, and stand-up comedy acts from all over the world give it their all to impress the judges and make it to the next round of the competition in hopes of ultimately winning the $250,000 grand prize.

See if the acts make you laugh tonight on NBC at 10:01/9:01c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing America’s Got Talent, Chopped Junior, Chopped, & Sweet Home Sextuplets.

Young JusticeOne problem with DCU as an emerging streaming platform has always been the lack of content. It launched with just a single show, the breakout horror action R-rated live action Titans. They went on to outdo themselves on Doom Patrol while relaunching a canceled cartoon Young Justice. Putting aside the tragically truncated Swamp Thing for a minute, I’m here to talk about the animated Young Justice run that is now in its third season. New episodes are airing again, and for some reason they come in sets of threes every Tuesday. Last week ended the triple play run with a Thanksgiving episode, cause yeah, that tracks.

No, but really, half the team was chilling in a theme park while the rest enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal with Tigress’s family. Gar, Beast Boy, complained about the black ops status of the team and how he wished they didn’t have to lurk in the shadows. Soon, Count Vertigo arrived and kidnapped Gar’s gf, Princess Terra, his niece. On the Turkey Day side of things, Forager tried to comfort a despondent Cyborg. Also Tigress’s Mom was peeved when she found out her daughter was active as a hero again.

The portion of the team at the park chased Vertigo’s helicopter, but after downing it, they initially couldn’t locate Terra or Vertigo. When Blue Scarab’s beetle suit figured out they were all disillusioned about their surroundings, they went in blindfolded. A short skirmish later and they uncovered that it had actually been Simon and Devastation using Simon’s powers of illusions that pulled off the kidnapping. Why? To distract them from the other Onslaught mercenaries who were kidnapping all the power-dampened metas that were left behind at the park. But the Young Justice team returned in time to thwart that effort too. In the end Gar couldn’t help but pose for a photo op, getting some of that credit he sought.

This show is maybe good after-school fodder for geeky teen or college student maybe. I consume all comic book TV media, so I’m going to keep watching, but this show is “meh” at best. They recently revealed Violet is gender non-binary and then stomped right over the coming out by continuing to use she/her pronouns for them. They tried. Sorta. Until DCU comes up with a bunch more content, I suppose I’ll be watching this tho.

On today’s episode, “First Impressions,” the Reach are back, terrorizing smalltown America…unless the Outsiders can stop them! (There should be three episodes tonight, but this is all I can find out about them.)

Don’t miss out this morning on DCU at 9AM/8AMc.
