If We Controlled Your Remote… 11/14/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

Phoebe’s Choice

Things were super climactic on The Good Place last week as the last day in the year-long afterlife experiment wound to a close. The experiment, which will determine the fate of all human souls moving forward, was conducted to determine if humans can actually improve themselves morally after they are already dead. If they can, then eternally punishing or rewarding them after death is sorta moot. With the deadline looming in under 24 hours, Eleanor and the gang were a bit stressed. They wanted to try some last-minute situations that might get their test subjects to improve themselves morally before time was up.

Michael was also learning sleight of hand “human magic,” despite the fact Janet can perform infinite real magic tricks. Jason, Tahani, & the 4 subjects were getting ready for their year one graduation, when Simone broke out her conspiracy theory board, ala Charlie Day from Always Sunny. She was certain that Michael and Eleanor were up to something sneaky and it pertained to them. Jason’s true nature as a Jacksonville DJ was exposed at this point too. Chidi told Simone that Eleanor once told him that he and Simone were soul mates. She was quite dubious but pointed at it as another weird sneaky thing. During the celebration, as Michael did his magic tricks, a giant sinkhole opened in the ground and Brent fell in, where he barely was holding on for dear life, trying to not fall all the way into the magma below. Simone and John stole Brent’s car and fled as Chidi stayed to try to rescue Brent. Chidi also fell in though. After saving them both, Eleanor & Michael “admitted” that this really wasn’t the Good Place, and they were about to be sent to the Bad Place. They pulled this stunt with less than two minutes left in the experiment, and while it did inspire a confession and complete change of heart in Brent, the clock expired as he was being open and honest to Chidi for the first time ever.

So this is exciting. Even though we have seven episodes left in the season, they are done with the experiment phase. Which means a lot of the tale is after the judge decides what the fate of our antiheroes will be. Will Chidi & Eleanor ever get back together? What about Jason & Janet? I don’t have these answers, but I will be aboard for the rest of the series till it ends in January.

On tonight’s episode, “The Funeral to End All Funerals,” the group awaits the judge’s final decision on the fate of human existence.

To see if they learn their fate, tune in to NBC at 9/8c.
