Tonight is the series premiere of The Outsider on HBO at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10/9c. Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel of the same name, this dark mystery follows a seemingly straightforward investigation into the gruesome murder of a young boy. The crime, however, leads a seasoned cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they believe to be real, as an insidious supernatural force edges its way into the case. The show stars Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), Jason Bateman (Arrested Development, Ozark), Julianne Nicholson (Conviction, Eyewitness, The Others), Bill Camp (The Looming Tower, Native Son), Jeremy Bobb (Escape at Dannemora, Godless, The Knick, Mosaic), Mare Winningham (Hatfields & McCoys, Mildred Pierce), Marc Menchaca (Generation Kill), Cynthia Erivo, Paddy Considine, & Yul Vazquez.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Sanditon on PBS at 9/8c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 10/9c. Experience Jane Austen’s last, fragmentary work, where entrepreneurs, love interests, legacy hunters, hypochondriacs and medical mountebanks come together at a struggling resort aiming to be the next fashionable playground in early 1800s England. It stars Rose Williams & Theo James.

Overnight last night was the series premiere of Spoolin’ Up with the Debertis on the MotorTrend App. In addition to the Discovery TWIN TURBOS series on Discovery, the MotorTrend App, the only subscription service dedicated entirely to the motoring world, will follow the DeBertis story in the all-new series Spoolin’ Up with the Debertis. The spin-off tears down the guardrails to allow Doug and Brad DeBerti to tear it up in one-of-a-kind automotive challenges outside of the shop where they can showcase their skills and try to one-up each other. The DeBertis may not make a dime or earn a seat on a NASCAR team, but they will win a far greater prize: bragging rights. The MotorTrend App is available for Prime Video customers in the U.S. on Prime Video Channels and on Amazon FireTV. The MotorTrend App is also available on other media players and streaming devices including the newly announced Facebook video subscription service, Apple TV, Roku, Google Chromecast and on the web, as well as across iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile devices.

Tonight is also the series premiere of The New Pope on HBO at 9/8c. Created and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, this drama will mark his second limited series set in the world of the modern papacy, following The Young Pope. It stars Jude Law, John Malkovich, Sharon Stone, Cecile de France, Henry Goodman, Javier Camara, Ludivine Sagnier, Marilyn Manson, Mark Ivanir, Massimo Ghini, Maurizio Lombardi, Silvio Orlando, & Ulrich Thomsen.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Meet the Frasers on E! at 10/9c. Matt Fraser, a 28-year-old psychic medium, and his 21-year-old pageant queen girlfriend Alexa Papigiotis are highly visible local celebrities in their hometown of Cranston, Rhode Island. Matt and Alexa are envisioning big things for their future; Matt’s captivating live reading events are growing more popular and his book “When Heaven Calls” will soon be published. And while Alexa supports Matt on his coast to coast tour, she’s got big dreams of her own. She’s setting her sights on winning her next pageant title and procuring a fabulous engagement ring. This couple is definitely on the rise — as long as their overly-involved families don’t get in the way. The eccentric family does everything together, from driving to Matt’s readings in an SUV emblazoned with his likeness, to debating if there’s such a thing as too much bling when Matt decides they need to wear matching jackets while working his events. Matt and Alexa can always count on their families to give them unwavering support and advice – even when they haven’t asked for it.

Tonight is the series premiere of 68 Whiskey on Paramount at 10/9c. This new scripted, comedic drama from Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios, 68 Whiskey follows a multicultural band of Army medics stationed in Afghanistan on a base nicknamed “The Orphanage.” Together, the medics navigate a dangerous and sometimes absurd world, relying on comradery, various vices, and, occasionally, a profound sense of purpose to carry them through. 68 Whiskey stars Sam Keeley, Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People, Marvel’s New Warriors), Gage Golightly (Red Oaks, Heartland, The End of the World As We Know It), Cristina Rodlo (Too Old to Die Young), Beth Riesgraf (Leverage, Lovestruck, Insatiable, Complications), Lamont Thompson (Hell on Earth), Nicholas Coombe (Imaginary Mary), Derek Theler (Baby Daddy, Marvel’s New Warriors), Aaron Glenane (Snowpiercer), Artur Benson, Jade Albany (The Naked Director, The Right Stuff), Linc Hand, & Usman Ally (Lovestruck, On Becoming a God in Central Florida).

Tonight is the series premiere of Expedition with Steve Backshall on PBS at 10/9c. The show reveals there are still parts of our planet yet to be discovered. Explorer and naturalist Steve Backshall pursues incredible journeys and world firsts — unclimbed peaks, unexplored cave systems and uncharted landscapes — setting foot where no human has been before. In this global series, adventurer and naturalist Steve Backshall ventures into undiscovered territory, endures extreme physical challenges, encounters extraordinary wildlife and teams up with remarkable people along the way. From free-diving in underground river systems and descending deep into the caves of the Maya underworld, to kayaking Himalayan whitewater and scaling unclimbed Arctic peaks, these expeditions push Backshall and his expert crew to the limit.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Listing Impossible on CNBC at 10/9c. When L.A.’s wealthiest put their multi-million-dollar properties up for sale, they sometimes learn that the house of their dreams…isn’t anyone else’s. And as a result their very, um, unique creations can end up sitting on the market for years. That’s where superstar real estate agent Aaron Kirman and his team come in. To fix up the homes and attract the right buyers, they’ll need to tell these owners the cold, hard truth – something the rich and powerful don’t always like to hear.

Saturday

Saturday is the series premiere of Aaron Hernandez’s Killing Fields on Reelz Channel at 8/7c, followed by a 2nd new episode at 9/8c and the series finale at 10/9c. Aaron Hernandez was an NFL star who played for the fabled the New England Patriots and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. He was on the verge of signing a $40 million deal with the Patriots before it all unraveled after he became embroiled in the most high-profile celebrity murder case since O.J. Simpson. Aaron Hernandez’s Killing Fields reveals the true story behind his shocking and short life with a team of professional investigators uncovering startling new evidence as they attempt to answer why a millionaire NFL superstar with a fiancé and a baby could become a convicted cold-blooded killer. Homicide detective Michele Wood, undercover investigator Don Jackson and veteran NYC police detective with more than 30 years of experience Bo Dietl come together to uncover the hidden truths in Hernandez’s story. Also interviewed is Hernandez’s childhood friend Dennis Sansoucie along with gang members and drug dealers who paint a picture of who Hernandez really was and why he chose a life of crime.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Seven Worlds, One Planet on BBC America at 9/8c. The show tells the story of earth’s seven spectacular continents and how they shape the extraordinary animal behavior and biodiversity we see today. Narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and featuring a theme co-composed by Hans Zimmer and Jacob Shea, and series score by Jacob Shea for Bleeding Fingers Music, the show reveals how each distinct continent has shaped the unique animal life found there. The seven-part series features filming firsts including polar bears jumping from rocks to catch adult beluga whales and a firefly spectacle in North America captured with a motion control tracking time-lapse camera, puma successfully hunting adult guanaco in South America, spidaboo mating dance in Australia, grave robbing hamsters in Europe, the largest aggregation of great whales ever filmed in Antarctica and Sir David Attenborough with the last two northern white rhinos on Earth in Africa.
