This Week on TV – 3/22/20-3/28/20

Welcome to a new week of TV! It’s a little slower as we near the end of the season due to shows shutting down production because of the COVID-19 craziness. I think most of you saw my previous message, but just an update: I’m still in the hospital. Just waiting for insurance approval to get me into rehab (physical therapy, not drug! LOL) in order to get me stronger before I go home, but it will hopefully be anytime. In the meantime, I was able to sit up enough today to do the schedule. I won’t be able to do the daily ones, but at least we’ll have this one! So enjoy, and thank you, thank you for all the kind words and support!

Don’t forget to comment or Tweet @tvismypacifier to let us know what YOU are planning to watch!

With unique access to locations across the country, viewers go on a journey through these magical realms, exploring five very different worlds — high mountains, tropical jungles, bamboo forests, great plains and temperate forests. “Stars” of these kingdoms include iconic and charismatic animals — the snow leopard, the giant panda, the Tibetan fox, the golden snub-nosed monkey and a stunning kaleidoscope of jungle creatures. All these animals live within their own unique hidden kingdoms of habitats and landscapes, sharing their worlds with other fascinating creatures. Using high-specification drones, camera traps and the latest 4K camera technology to engage with these special animals, the series brings China’s hidden kingdoms to life in the most dramatic ways possible.

Overnight last night was the complete first season premiere of Baghdad Central on Hulu. November 2003 and Baghdad is occupied by the US army but the disbandment of the Iraqi establishment means no one is in charge and there is no rule of law. In the midst of this chaos, Iraqi ex-policeman Khafaji has lost everything and battles daily to keep himself and his sick daughter Mrouj safe. When he learns that his estranged elder daughter Sawsan is missing, Khafaji is forced into a desperate search and unwilling cooperation with US and British entities.

Overnight last night was also the series premiere of Be Our Chef on Disney+. What if your family had the chance to create the next great Disney Parks dish? Hosted by Angela Kinsey, Be Our Chef invites families from diverse backgrounds to join a Disney-inspired cooking competition at Walt Disney World that is positive and playful in tone. In each episode, two families will participate in a themed challenge based on their family traditions and the magic of Disney. The finalists will apply what they have learned to create a dish that represents their family through a Disney lens.

Overnight last night was also the series premiere of Making the Cut on Amazon. In this first season, Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn take 12 established designers around the world from New York to Paris to Tokyo, as they compete to become the next global fashion brand. Each week, winning looks will be available to buy on Amazon in the Making the Cut store, and the last designer standing will receive one million dollars to invest in their brand.

Tonight is also the series premiere of Somewhere South on PBS at 9/8c. Take a culinary journey through the American South with Chef Vivian Howard.

Finally, tonight is the series premiere of Vagrant Queen on Syfy at 10/9c. Former child queen Elida has been on the run since her mother was shot and killed Commander Lazaro, the man responsible for bringing down their empire. A highly skilled fighter, Elida has been living in hiding and making ends meet as a scavenger while the unhinged Lazaro obsesses over tracking her down. When Elida’s old frenemy, Isaac, shows up with news that her mother is still alive, it takes the help of the optimistic mechanic Amae, to escape Lazaro’s army and begin the rescue mission across a dangerous galaxy. To save her mother the team must break into the heavily guarded region of space where Elida once ruled, but an encounter with a group loyal to her former throne forces Elida to face her past as a child queen. Cannibalistic aliens, dangerous planets, shootouts, karaoke, and parking tickets complicate the journey further, and they don’t have long before the increasingly deranged Lazaro catches up to them. The show stars Adriyan Rae as Elida, Paul du Toit as Commander Lazaro, & Tim Rozon (Wynonna Earp) as Isaac.
