Overnight last night was also the complete first season premiere of Trial by Media on Netflix. In our modern media landscape where real courtroom dramas have increasingly been transformed into a form of entertainment, the new documentary series reflects on some of the most dramatic and memorable trials in recent history. Since televised coverage introduced a new emphasis on creative storytelling and showmanship into the legal system, the courtroom has never been the same. Over six compelling parts, the show explores the many ways in which the press have contributed to reshaping public perception about guilt or innocence before, during or after a trial. The series features cases reaching across different areas of the law including the unforgettable Jenny Jones made-for-Court TV murder trials, the sensational story of Rod Blagojevich’s political fall, and the case of Amadou Diallo, an unarmed African immigrant who was shot 41 times by police in New York City.

Tonight is also the 2-hour series premiere of Asian Americans on PBS at 8/7c. The series examines what the 2010 U.S. Census identifies as the fastest growing racial/ethnic group in the United States. Told through individual lives and personal histories, the show explores the impact of this group on the country’s past, present, and future. Led by a team of Asian American filmmakers, including Academy Award(R)-nominated series producer Renee Tajima-Peña (Who Killed Vincent Chin?, No Más Bebés), Asian Americans examines the significant role of Asian Americans in shaping American history and identity, from the first wave of Asian immigrants in the 1850s and identity politics during the social and cultural turmoil of the twentieth century to modern refugee crises in a globally connected world.

Tonight is the series premiere of Bakeaway Camp with Martha Stewart on Food Network at 9/8c. Emmy(R) Award-winning television personality, acclaimed cookbook author and trusted lifestyle expert Martha Stewart helps guide six talented amateur bakers in the new primetime series. A culinary retreat that is anything but, through four one-hour episodes the six campers must brave the outdoor elements for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perfect their baking skills under the watchful eye of Camp Director Martha Stewart, along with camp counselors and baking experts Carla Hall and Dan Langan. Together with host Jesse Palmer, Martha leads the bakers through challenges each episode that test their skills over two rounds, with the most impressive baker of the first heat getting a personal one-on-one mentoring session with their idol, Martha, in her home kitchen. Equal parts baking boot-camp and camp-inspired games and challenges, the baker that displays the least amount of progress at the end of each episode will pack their bags and head home, with the last camper standing winning a kitchen filled with appliances worth $25,000. Welcome to Bakeaway Camp!

Tonight is the series premiere of Step Up to the Plate on BYUtv at 8:30/7:30c. Restaurant guru Fred Sirieix and top chef Allegra McEvedy mentor eight young contestants as they open their own restaurant. Fred’s restaurant crew must successfully manage the house, while Allegra’s kitchen crew must master the kitchen. Both teams need to work together to wow their mentors while providing excellent service and mouth-watering dishes. Step Up to the Plate is a tasty treat for both kids and parents. Dig in!

Tonight is also the series premiere of Jeff’s Homemade Game Show on BYUtv at 9/8c. Comedian Jeff Rogers knows how to turn family time into game time: he shows up at a family’s home and hosts a game show right in their living room! The family competes in a series of crazy and hilarious challenges with items from around the house. If they win, they get some amazing prizes. If they lose, they get junk from Jeff’s garage. Jeff’s Homemade Game Show is fast, funny, and all about family–staying home has never been this much fun!

Tonight is also the series premiere of Kingdom of the Mummies on NGC at 10/9c. National Geographic recently released never-before-seen footage from within ancient Egypt’s first known fully intact funeral home. In conjunction with Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, a team of archaeologists led by Dr. Ramadan Hussein from Germany’s Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, uncovered the burial complex, dating back to 600 BC, deep beneath the sands at the Saqqara necropolis less than an hour’s drive south of Cairo. The new, four-part series produced for National Geographic by BBC Studios follows the team as they explore the subterranean chambers and open four sealed, 2,600 year-old sarcophagi to unlock secrets forgotten since the age of the Pharaohs. The show tracks Dr. Hussein’s team, along with Egyptologist Prof. Salima Ikram from American University in Cairo, mummy expert Dr. Stephen Buckley from University of York, digital archaeologist Dr. Matthias Lang from University of Tübingen, geoengineer Dr. Ayman Hamed of Suez University and paleoradiologist Prof. Sahar Saleem from Cairo University, as they make a host of new finds and decipher clues about Egyptian burial processes. In addition to uncovering the first known fully integrated funeral complex with dedicated areas for organ removal, embalming and burial, the team’s learnings are helping reveal more about death — and the business of death — in ancient Egypt. The latest scientific testing and scanning of the tombs, their relics and the remains of the deceased also add layers of meaning and context to the lessons being gleaned about the sacred rites and commerce that were conducted in this subterranean space.

Overnight last night was the complete first season premiere of The Great on Hulu. The Great is a satirical, comedic drama about the rise of Catherine the Great from outsider to the longest reigning female ruler in Russia’s history. Season One is a fictionalized, fun and anachronistic story of an idealistic, romantic young girl, who arrives in Russia for an arranged marriage to the mercurial Emperor Peter. Hoping for love and sunshine, she finds instead a dangerous, depraved, backward world that she resolves to change. All she has to do is kill her husband, beat the church, baffle the military and get the court onside. A very modern story about the past which encompasses the many roles she played over her lifetime as lover, teacher, ruler, friend, and fighter. The show stars Elle Fanning, Gwilym Lee, Nicholar Hoult, Phoebe Fox, Sebastian De Souza, Adam Godley, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, & Sacha Dhawan.

Overnight last night was also the series premiere of It’s a Dog’s Life with Bill Farmer on Disney+. The iconic voice of Goofy and Pluto for more than 30 years, Disney Legend Bill Farmer steps out from behind the microphone to meet his own favorite characters – dogs! Join Bill as he crosses the country meeting dogs doing all kinds of incredible jobs that make our lives better. In the series premiere, Bill is at sea with a dog who sniffs for whale poop. Then, he meets a dog keeping a sheep ranch moving.

Overnight was also the complete first season premiere of The Last Narc on Amazon. This provocative four-part docuseries centers on the most notorious murder in the history of the DEA – the 1985 kidnapping and murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena. The show tells the story of a fallen hero, the men who killed him, and the one man who risked everything to find out what really happened and why. Highly decorated special agent Hector Berrellez, who was assigned to lead the DEA’s investigation of Camarena’s murder, peels back the layers of myth and propaganda to reveal the bone-chilling truth about a conspiracy that stretches from the killing fields of Mexico to the halls of power in Washington, D.C. Berrellez’s powerful testimony appears alongside that of Camarena’s brave widow, as well as three Guadalajara Cartel insiders. These men were corrupt Jalisco State policemen who, at the time of Camarena’s murder, served as bodyguards to legendary drug lords Rafael Caro Quintero and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo. Eventually, they became informants for Berrellez and helped him crack the most infamous murder of the War on Drugs.

Overnight was also the complete first season premiere of White Lines on Netflix. When her brother is discovered dead, a Manchester woman leaves her quiet life to travel to Ibiza, where she seeks the truth about his disappearance. The show stars Laura Haddock.

  1. Josh says:

Saturday night live season final was last night

    • Jenny says:

Weird. I see that TVLine lists it as the finale, but Zap2It shows new this coming Saturday. I’ll take it off. 🙂 Thanks.

  2. Sal says:

I come here every Sunday night to see what’s up for the week. Thank you for all the work you do and for sharing it with everyone.

  3. Iris222 says:

Who’s excited for How To Get Away With Murder season finale????!!!! ME.

  4. Paul Petrissans says:

Real Time With Bill Maher is off this Friday, it was announced during last week’s episode.

  5. Foreva says:

This site avoids certain programming which leads me to believe this site is geared towards certain groups of people. Could be more diverse instead of going out the way to not be

    • Jenny says:

What programming do I avoid? Well, I can think of three things. Teen Mom, Honey Boo Boo, and the shows that have little kids in beauty pageants. Other than that, what am I not posting?

      • Foreva says:

        Adult Swim’s Highest Rated Programming

        • Jenny says:

Really? What on Adult Swim do I not post? I’m pretty sure I post everything I see on there…

          • Foreva says:

Demon Slayer had a season finale. My Hero Academia is nearing 4th seasons end which I had no idea even started not to mention black clover and JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure. I trusted this site and used it exclusively and missed a whole hell of a lot for doing so my mistake and people who wanna comment making everything about money come see me I have something for your kind

    • John Porter says:

You are complaining about a free website because it doesn’t meet your standards? That’s low.

  6. Jenny says:

I couldn’t reply directly to foreva’s last comment, so I emailed this to make sure she saw. I’m also posting it here so everyone sees.

“I’ve never heard of the shows you listed. I have two primary sources.

The Futon Critic ( http://www.thefutoncritic.com ) doesn’t have ANY of them listed.

Zap2It ( https://tvlistings.zap2it.com/?aid=gapzap ) doesn’t have Demon Slayer at all. My Hero Academia shows the last new episode was in February. Black Clover was last new in January and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures in April 2019, according to them.

I’m sorry I didn’t see those when they were on. If you had emailed or commented to let me know, like many others have done with other shows that I might miss, I’d have been sure to include it. I am one person. I don’t get paid for doing this. I have a husband, a son, and two fur babies. I also work (from home, but I do have a job). So I do the best I can. Sometimes things will slip through the cracks. Whether it’s because I just completely miss something that’s on the sites, the sites themselves miss something (The Futon Critic can be slow to update sometimes, which is why I double check with Zap2It’s grid.), or the networks don’t send out press releases about their shows to sites so they can’t be added to schedules…or for whatever reason. If you DON’T see something on the schedule that you know is on, I would love to know about it so I can add it. I’ve done that a good handful of times over the years when someone lets me know about it. But usually they politely write me about it.

I think maybe you should take your own advice:

“Everybody commenting a 1 sentence compliment, followed by a paragraph of how the schedule is one percent wrong. Dammit people there’s no ads and no solicitation of donations. Just be thankful or take your complaining ways somewhere else.”

“You should disable comments. It’s 100% people trying to correct you.”

I don’t want you to leave. I love my readers. But please, if you’re unhappy about something, let me know, rather than making a somewhat rude, baseless accusation.

    Thank you.

    Jenny”

  7. Jenny says:

By the way…here’s the “conversation” we had in March, when I was still in the hospital and I finally put out a new weekly schedule:

    Foreva says:
    March 21, 2020 at 10:37 pm (Edit)
Could you add Adult Swim programming for Saturdays? Glad you’re still alive. Up until this afternoon I was genuinely worried.

    Jenny says:
    March 22, 2020 at 11:18 am (Edit)
    LOL Thanks. 🙂
Hmm. I usually see new Adult Swim episodes on my sources, so what are you seeing new that I haven’t included?

Foreva, you never replied to that by comment or by email. Had you done so then, I’d have made the effort then to add anything new I’d found.

  8. Jenny says:

Okay, I did some more research and My Hero Academia, Black Clover, JoJo’s, & Naruto: Shippuden did show up on Zap2It. Not when searching, but they’re on the schedule. So they’ve now been added to this coming week’s schedule. Just FYI to all.
