Tonight is the 2-hour series premiere of World War II: Race to Victory on History Channel at 9/8c. The miniseries recalls one of the most thrilling races in history, between three icons, superpowers, and ideologies that came together to overcome a greater evil and achieve VE Day. Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin find themselves in an uneasy alliance, fraught with power-struggles, false promises, and deadly suspicions of each other. The series paints an in-depth picture of the race to power and victory during the war, to reach VE Day. To mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, an examination of the race, not only to win WWII, but also to gain power and an ideological stronghold. 7:48 am on December 7, 1941. The U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii is attacked by 350 Japanese planes. They sink four American battleships — half the U.S. fleet. In just two hours, they also destroy 188 aircraft and kill more than 2,000 Americans.
 
Tonight is also the series premiere of Beecham House on PBS at 10/9c. Gurinder Chadha’s new six-part drama series is set on the cusp of the 19th century in Delhi before the British ruled in that region. Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair, Jekyll and Hyde, Murder on the Orient Express) steps into the role of enigmatic, soulful John Beecham, a handsome former soldier who has purchased the magnificent mansion, Beecham House, to begin a new life with his family. The ensemble cast includes Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey), Gregory Fitoussi (Mr. Selfridge, Spiral), Adil Ray (Citizen Khan, Ackley Bridge), Pallavi Sharda (Lion), Dakota Blue Richards (Endeavour), Leo Suter (Clique, Victoria, Sanditon), Bessie Carter (Howard’s End), Viveik Kalra (Blinded By The Light), and Marc Warren (Safe, Hustle). Writer, director, and producer Chadha is responsible for a number of international hit films, including Bend It Like Beckham, Bride & Prejudice, Viceroy’s House, and 2019’s Blinded By The Light.

Tonight is the series premiere of Generation Renovation: Lake House on HGTV at 9/8c. Interior designer Danielle Bryk sets out to build her sister and brother-in-law’s lake house from the ground up. She works with local contractors and uses environmentally friendly techniques to bring the home to life in just four months.

Overnight last night was the complete first season premiere of Love, Victor on Hulu. Set in the world of the original 2018 film Love, Simon, the series follows Victor (Michael Cimino), a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school. Overnight was the series premiere of Karma on HBO Max. The show takes sixteen contestants, ranging in age from 12 to 15, completely off the grid away from parents and the normal comforts of home to solve puzzles and overcome physical challenges, with the laws of karma setting the rules. This adventure competition series, hosted by YouTube influencer Michelle Khare, will test the mental and physical stamina of its young contestants as they unravel how their social actions impact their success in the game. Focus, giving, humility, growth, connection, change, and patience are the path to becoming the “Karma Champion.” But more importantly, the players learn one of life’s most profound lessons: “What you give out, you get back.”
 
Overnight last night was also the complete first season premiere of Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi on Hulu. Award-winning cookbook author, host, and executive producer Padma Lakshmi takes audiences on a journey across America, exploring the rich and diverse food culture of various immigrant groups, seeking out the people who have so heavily shaped what American food is today. From indigenous communities to recent immigrant arrivals, Padma breaks bread with Americans across the nation to uncover the roots and relationship between our food, our humanity and our history — ultimately revealing stories that challenge notions of identity, belonging, and what it means to be American.
 
Tonight is the series premiere of Syfy Wire’s The Great Debate on Syfy at 11/10c. Transformed from the stage for the Syfy screen, the half-hour, late-night series features a rotating group of nerd-tastic, nostalgia-loving celebrities who go head-to-head each week to hash out fandom’s burning questions. These notable genre enthusiasts show off their comedic improv chops, don their best geekdom cosplay, and debate the hottest questions in the galaxy such as: Who’d be a worse boss, Darth Vader or the Joker? What is THE best movie snack? What would a therapy session with Super Mario look like? And many more! Actor and comedian Baron Vaughn (Grace and Frankie, Mystery Science Theatre 3000) hosts the unfiltered and unabashed new series. No stranger to a debate stage, Vaughn hosted Syfy Wire’s The Great Debate live panel at New York Comic Con in 2019 and was a panelist at SXSW’s showdown that same year.

Overnight was the complete first season premiere of Floor is Lava on Netflix. Teams compete to navigate rooms flooded with lava by leaping from chairs, hanging from curtains and swinging from chandeliers. Yes, really.
 
Overnight last night was also the series premiere of LOL: Last One Laughing — Australia on Amazon. Hosted by Rebel Wilson, the comedy-variety series will feature a star-studded cast of ten Australian comedic actors and stand-ups competing to make each other laugh first. The final comedian left standing will win the grand prize of AUD$ 100,000. The six-part Amazon Original series will film nonstop to catch all of the hilarious action, and follow the select group of talented comics who bring various styles to the table, including stand-up, character, improvisational and physical comedy, among others.
 
Tonight is the series premiere of Dino Hunters on Discovery Channel at 10/9c. Montana rancher Clayton Phipps and Wyoming fossil hunter Mike Harris buck the academic status quo by putting their money on the line, traveling the earth, and turning out groundbreaking finds that’ve set the scientific world on fire.
