If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/25/19

Have you ever been at a loss as to what to watch? Too many shows to pick from? We’re here to give you our opinions on what we feel is worth watching. Check it out and then let us know in the comments below what you’re choosing for tonight!

My first pick tonight is the new ABC drama Stumptown, starring Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother). Based on the “Stumptown” graphic novel series, the show follows Dex Parios, a strong, assertive, and sharp-witted army veteran with a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of in Portland, Oregon. Her military intelligence skills make her a great PI, but her unapologetic style puts her in the firing line of hardcore criminals and not quite in alliance with the police. The previews look great. Dex is a smart-mouthed smartass and I think she’s going to be someone we can all root for. I like the rest of the cast too: Michael Ealy (Almost Human, Suspect, Sleeper Cell), Camryn Manheim (Person of Interest, The Practice), Jake Johnson (New Girl), Adrian Martinez (The Blacklist: Redemption), plus Tantoo Cardinal and newcomer Cole Sibus.

Be sure to watch tonight’s episode, “Forget It Dex, It’s Stumptown,” on ABC at 10/9c.

On the previous episode of SEAL Team, the team jumped out of the plane in order to hike to their target, but Ray’s chute didn’t open. It took a while for them to figure out that his backup HAD opened, but they believed he’d landed in enemy territory. The higher-ups said to finish their objective and Ray would meet them at the exit point. But Jason and the others talked to Blackburn and got the okay to go into enemy territory and find him. It was a very good thing they did, because it wasn’t long before he was found and on the run. Although I did love him hanging in the tree and trying not to move while the two men were below him. If it weren’t for the dang knife he’d dropped! While on the run, Ray sneaked into a small village (which made me very happy to live where I do…) and ended up taking a woman hostage when she walked into her home and found him. He threatened her life if she yelled out to the other villagers, but his crisis of faith finally came to a head when (I think?) she started praying. He realized he couldn’t just execute her, that if this was God’s plan, then he’d either get caught or escape before she could alert them. He finally let her go and ran out the back, and just before he could get captured or killed, his team appeared. Then Mandy spoke to her counterpart in that area and was able to convince her (ie: bribe her with the leaked location of a terrorist her country wanted, even though Mandy giving her the location would be without her boss’s boss’s boss’s or whatever consent) to send in a rescue helicopter to grab the team – and grab them they did. They lowered a rope, and each member clipped themselves to it, and off it went, the team flying on the rope in a row below it! It was awesome.

Other big news was Stella came to visit Clay to see how he was doing. He told her all about Swanny and the fight he’s now undertaken on Swanny’s behalf. It was a good visit, and I actually have hope that MAYBE there will be a reunion between the two of them. Clay also visited his father in the hopes that maybe his dad will take the fight on himself and use his position at the public access TV to help out. And FINALLY, Lisa went to visit her sister in order to invite her to her OCS graduation, and the visit didn’t go well. Her sister blames her for their other sister’s death, and she was kind of a witch to Lisa. She didn’t show at the graduation, which meant Lisa had no one there to support her and see her graduate…until Clay slid into the reserved seat. It was a sweet moment.

So tonight’s finale… Stella and Ash Spencer are back, so hopefully we’ll see some movement on the Clay/Stella and Clay/Swanny’s medal/TBIs fronts. And Commander Shaw is back, which means he’s still going to try to split up the team. I mean, even if he does, it can’t last, since without the team, there wouldn’t be a show, and it’s already been renewed for next season. Still… I hope if he does split them up, it doesn’t last long into next season!

On tonight’s episode, “Never Out of the Fight,” Bravo team’s future is on the line when Commander Shaw recommends they be split up, but Jason’s unit has one final mission to prove him wrong.

Find out Commander Shaw’s decision tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

Last week on SEAL Team, Bravo headed to the Afghan side of the Afghanistan/Iran border in order to take out the financier/mastermind behind several terrorist attacks, who was going to be in a little “town” just on the other side of the border. It was supposed to be a quick in/quick out visit for the team, with no one laying eyes on them, because they didn’t have permission to be in Iran and certainly didn’t get permission from the Iranians to kill a man in their country. It was quite a dangerous situation to be in, and unfortunately, two kids from Iran were flying a kite that went down right on top of Jason and Ray, and they were spotted. Ray took the shot just after the kids made it back to the town and notified the men there, and our guys came under fire. They were able to fight back until our waiting Marines from inside Afghanistan came to the rescue, laying down fire so our guys could load up on the waiting transport, and everyone got out safely. Unfortunately, we learned then that Ray just clipped the guy he had taken the shot at and the guy was still alive. That was a blow to both Ray, who is having a crisis of faith, and to Clay, who believed he should have been the one to take the shot.

Ray’s not doing so well lately. He’s taking something (Pain pills? Depression meds? I don’t know…), and he’s going to the bar instead of being home with Naima and the kids. I’m not really liking his character at the moment. So we’ll see where things go with him. And now Davis has told the others about OCS… She has their support, but I’m worried. Is she leaving the show?! I haven’t heard anything about that, but since she said that was her last mission with the team… It’ll be interesting to see how that story line goes! And Jason met up with Adam’s wife/widow, Victoria, at the store, and she basically asked him out to dinner. Unfortunately, at dinner, he admitted that he can’t see her right now as anything but Adam’s wife, letting her know things wouldn’t be going further for them (for now…). He then went to the bar and found a woman who’d come on to him previously, and they went back to the back and had sex. He needs to get back out there, but I don’t like that that’s how he did it. LOL

On tonight’s episode, “Dirt, Dirt, Gucci,” as Bravo Team prepares for what they expect to be a “cushy” deployment with the luxury of staying in a hotel in the Philippines, Jason tries to find a way to pay for Emma’s college.

See if the deployment’s as “cushy” as the team thinks it will be tonight on CBS at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chicago Med, The Goldbergs, Battle of the Ages, Schooled, Chicago Fire, Dinner Takes All, Gone, Guy’s Grocery Games, Modern Family, Single Parents, Chicago PD, & Whiskey Cavalier.

Wednesday nights are always a favorite of mine because of it being #OneChicago night – and while Chicago Med isn’t always my top pick out of the three, lately there have been some interesting stories. Will and Natalie have broken up due to Will lying to her about the gun he was supposed to get rid of. Also, Will is jealous of the relationship she has built with a patient’s father. I have to admit I get where they are both coming from. Will has been acting a little erratic, but he has been through a lot, and in my opinion Natalie is definitely getting a little too close to the man who just lost his wife and is watching his baby fight for her life. Elsewhere, Rhodes is starting to be very concerned about Bekker’s mental stability when she seems to be going to extreme lengths to be with him. That woman is without a doubt coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs – she is willing to do some very questionable things just to have Rhodes, and that isn’t going to end well. Regardless of all this relationship drama, I am interested to see what medical emergencies we are faced with this week.

On tonight’s episode, “We Hold These Truths,” after witnessing a pick-up truck plow through a street fair, Natalie and Maggie are forced to make some tough decisions on the fly. The doctors and nurses of Chicago Med find themselves on high alert with the influx of patients arriving in need of aid. Dr. Charles’s ex-wife comes to town with news.

Find out if Natalie and Maggie can handle the difficult situation tonight on NBC at 8/7c.

Last week’s Chicago PD was an intense, sad one, especially for Atwater. When he went undercover with a local drug dealer, he and his contact (who didn’t know he was a cop) were driving on their way to meet with the fake supplier (Antonio), when they were stopped by the police – for no real reason other than being black. The two cops were super aggressive and racist jerks, but Atwater’s contact went for one cop’s gun and was shot and killed. Atwater had to decide how to handle his report on what happened, because it was such a bull crap stop and the cops were so terrible, but in the end, he watched the body cam (or cop car cam? I can’t remember which…) video, and it was clear to him the contact had gone for the cop’s gun, so it was a good shoot, even though it was a bad stop with terrible attitudes. Regardless, it was a tough episode all around, but it was a good one too.

On tonight’s episode, “Ties That Bind,” the team travels to a Wisconsin gun show to take down a supplier who’s manufacturing “cop killer” machine guns. Before going undercover together, Burgess discovers that Upton is dating Ruzek.

Go out of state with Intelligence tonight on NBC at 10/9c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chicago Med, The Goldbergs, Schooled, Chicago Fire, Guy’s Grocery Games, Single Parents, & Match Game.
