Tonight, AMC’s martial arts drama, Into the Badlands, returns for its second season. As the first season came to a close, Sunny had become close with MK and didn’t want to kill the “Dark One,” so he tried to pass off another severed head as proof of death to the River King to get passage out of the Badlands. Elsewhere, Veil had been captured by the Widow, who was forcing her to tend to her wounds from an earlier battle with Sunny. At the same time, Quinn chained Sunny in the dungeon under the suspicion that he was the traitor to his father. As Quinn took MK to a brothel, they quickly realized that it was a trap – Jacoby was waiting to kill the boy, and so Quinn sliced the boy’s hand with his sword in order to activate his blood rage. While they were fighting, Sunny showed up and stabbed and seemingly killed Quinn. But the main event that was going on at the same time was interrupted when the Brothers showed up with their glowing fists, and they easily took charge of the waking up a prisoner on a boat heading to who-knows-where.

I ended up really enjoying the short first season of this series. It provided both interesting characters and drama as well as some great fight scenes. I’m looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the second season and how they bring this group back together. Where is Sunny headed? Will Veil realize her love has been kidnapped and try to rescue him? What do the Brothers want with MK? Do they just want to train him and help him control his powers, or do they have more sinister motives? Is Quinn dead, and if so, who will become the new Baron? And will the Widow stop looking for MK?

On tonight’s premiere, “Tiger Pushes Mountain,” Sunny finds a new foe, as well as a new, unexpected ally. Meanwhile, MK learns about his gift in a mysterious place.

If you missed the first season, AMC is airing a marathon of all six episodes today, which started at 9:30am ET/PT. Otherwise, tune in tonight for the new episode at 10:05/9:05c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Time After Time, American Crime, Madam Secretary, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Making History, Family Guy, The Last Man on Earth, The Walking Dead, Feud: Bette and Joan, Big Little Lies, and Crashing.

I love when franchises/shows do crossovers. We’ve seen it a lot in the #OneChicago universe, but tonight, we’re not only getting the biggest crossover to date, but they’re introducing the new Chicago Justice, as well! The action will start off in Chicago Fire and move from there into Chicago PD, finishing off in the courtroom with Chicago Justice. But don’t think that just because Chicago Med isn’t on the list that we won’t see the docs and nurses there. There will be plenty of action taking place at the hospital, so as the exec producer said in a recent TV Line interview, it’s like four shows taking place in three hours. But be aware… Tonight’s case is based on the headlines…on the Bay Area warehouse fire from just a few months ago. I trust that the show will treat the memory of those affected with respect, but if it’s something that is sensitive for you, you might want to skip tonight’s crossover.

As for the newest in the strong Chicago lineup, Philip Winchester stars as prosecutor Peter Stone, the Assistant State’s Attorney and Deputy Chief of the Special Prosecutions Bureau. His character has a fantastic tie-in to a great Law & Order character: he’s the son of renowned New York City District Attorney Ben Stone (played in Law & Order by Michael Moriarty). Carl Weathers plays Mark Jefferies, the Cook County State’s Attorney who is more into politics than Stone is. The prosecution’s team also includes Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez (Monica Barbaro), Laura Nagel (Joelle Carter), a tough-as-nails State’s Attorney Investigator, and Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda, who moved over from Chicago PD), a level-headed and by-the-book detective turned Chief Investigator.

On tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire, “Deathtrap,” fire and rescue are called when an old warehouse-turned-work space turns into a firestorm, trapping countless victims; the doctors and nurses of Chicago Med deal with a barrage of patients as victims of the disaster are brought through the doors.

Then on Chicago PD’s “Emotional Proximity,” Olinsky’s daughter is in critical condition following a massive warehouse fire; Voight investigates the fire’s potential origins; intelligence examines connections between the building owner, those who were inside, and potential arson suspects.

Finally, on Chicago Justice’s “Fake,” Peter Stone and his team, including investigator Antonio Dawson, try to bring a warehouse arsonist to justice, and the suspect’s high-powered attorney tries to get his client acquitted.

Catch all the action and drama tonight on NBC starting at 8/7c.

I’ll also be watching/DVRing Chopped Junior, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, Criminal Minds, Major Crimes, Property Brothers, Bakers vs. Fakers, & Six.
