Tonight, AMC kicks off the fifth season of Fear the Walking Dead. During the fourth season, we lost a couple of the original main characters but gained some replacements along the way. As the season ended, our band of survivors consisted of Morgan, Strand, Althea, Alicia, Luciana, John, June, Wendell, Sarah, and Charlie. The group had been poisoned with antifreeze by a crazy serial killer, a filthy woman named Martha. However, apparently they just needed to drink a lot of beer to offset the poison, and they managed to find some in the nick of time. Martha ended up getting turned into a walker and was quickly dispatched by Morgan. It looked like the newly reunited gang was all set to head from Texas to Virginia, to the Alexandria community. However, Morgan changed his plans at the last minute, wanting to stay and continue Polar Bear’s work, helping to provide supplies for lost travelers and hopefully prevent someone else from ending up desperate and alone like Martha. The others decided to join him and planned to start by trying to find and help some of the folks that were on Al’s tapes. So they set up shop in an old denim factory, using it as their base of operations.

As the fifth season opens, we are thrust right into the middle of the action/story. Our band of do-gooders is off on a mission to find a man named Logan, who contacted them for assistance, when things run afoul. They now find themselves in a dangerous, unfamiliar new location. Not only are there zombies to deal with, but there’s also some unknown person or group that doesn’t seem want anyone in their neighborhood, and they have put up signs and other roadblocks to keep people out—anyone having flashbacks to Negan? What is this new threat, what do they want, and should our group be concerned?

I checked out the first few episodes of the season, and it’s definitely shaping up to be another exciting one, with many twists and turns. Just in the few episodes I saw, there are several new and familiar faces that show up to shake things up. And the number of threats our group is facing seems to grow exponentially with each new episode. I’m looking forward to learning more about what our survivors are really up against and seeing what else this season holds!

On tonight’s premiere, “Here to Help,” led by Morgan and Alicia, the group lands in uncharted territory in search of survivors to help; everything is not as it seems in this foreboding new land.

Catch up with this group of survivors tonight on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Perpetual Grace, Ltd, NOS4A2, and Worst Cooks in America.

Tonight, AMC is airing a special The Walking Dead eighth season finale/Fear the Walking Dead fourth season premiere crossover event. Last week on The Walking Dead, Negan returned to the Saviors, who were surprised to see that he was still alive. Negan quickly dispatched Simon for his betrayal, chaining his walker body to the fence of the Saviors’ compound. During the chaos of Negan and Simon’s brawl, Dwight helped Gregory escape, sending him back to the Hilltop to warn Rick and the gang about Negan’s plan of attack. However, Negan later revealed to Dwight that he knew of his betrayal and purposely told him a fake plan so that he would in turn feed it back to Rick. Despite Dwight’s actions, Negan announced he wasn’t going to kill him just yet. Meanwhile, Daryl and Rosita kidnapped Eugene in order to take him back to the Hilltop. However, Eugene didn’t want to leave, so he forced himself to vomit all over Rosita as a distraction and ran away. Finally, Michonne called Negan over the radio in order to read the note Carl had left for him. In the letter, Carl pleaded with Negan, asking him to call off the war, but the words seemed to fall on deaf ears as Negan was still planning to go forward with his plan to completely eliminate Rick and the gang.

Will this battle with the Saviors finally come to an end tonight, or will the writers drag this on for yet another season? Has Eugene really changed sides, or does he have some sort of plan he’s hatching to sabotage the Saviors’ ammo? Will Rick and the gang fall into Negan’s trap, or will they figure out his real plan in time? Will any major characters not survive tonight’s episode? I really hope we see the end of Negan in tonight’s finale so that the show can move on to some other storyline next year!

Following tonight’s finale, Morgan will make his way from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead. I’m really curious to see how this is going to work, as Fear takes place before The Walking Dead and in another part of the country. Will Fear do a time jump? Or will we see a pre-The Walking Dead Morgan? Will the helicopter we’ve seen a few times this season on TWD play a role in transporting Morgan to the other series?

On tonight’s The Walking Dead season finale, “Wrath,” the communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors. The season’s story lines culminate in all-out war.

And in tonight’s Fear the Walking Dead season premiere, “What’s Your Story?” a lone traveler’s wearying journey is interrupted by new acquaintances, some who become friends, others who becomes foes.

Catch all the action tonight on AMC starting at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Timeless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, Killing Eve, Worst Cooks in America, Trust, Silicon Valley, and Barry.

Sunday night, Fear the Walking Dead returns for its third season. When we last left off, Chris had accepted his darker nature and had ditched his father to travel with some other like-minded young men. However, Travis later discovered that men had killed his son, and the shock of the situation unleashed a beast inside him. He beat Brandon and Derrick to death and mortally wounded one of the hotel residents in the process. The fallout from this led to the group being evicted from this safe haven and sent them on the run in search of Nick. Meanwhile, in La Colonia, Alejandro got bit by a walker, and he finally admitted he wasn’t actually immune. As Nick and Luciana led the rest of the people toward a military base, Alejandro stayed back to make one final stand against Marco and his men. As the group made it to the border, with the military base/refugee camp in sight, they suddenly came under fire. They tried to fight back, but Nick and Luciana were taken by the vigilantes. At the same time, Travis, Madison, and Alicia finally made it to La Colonia, where Margo and his gang were now walkers, and in his dying breath Alejandro told them that Nick was headed for the border.

Who are these people who took Nick and Luciana, and what do they want? Will Travis, Madison, and Alicia finally be reunited with Nick in time to save him? I was thrilled to see Chris get killed off last season – he was one of the weakest parts of the show. I look forward to seeing how the series improves without him and what kinds of new threats our group of survivors will face next.

If you missed any of last season or want to re-live it, AMC is re-airing all 15 episodes starting at 5:45am ET/PT tomorrow morning, leading up to the season premiere.

On Sunday night’s 2-hour premiere, “Eye of the Beholder/The New Frontier,” the Clark family find themselves in a dire predicament and must work together to discover a path to safety; and Strand faces resistance as he attempts to hold power over his domain.

Check out the two-hour season premiere on Sunday night on AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Talking Dead, Food Network Star, The Leftovers, Silicon Valley, American Gods, and I’m Dying Up Here.

fearthewalkingdead823smallThe return of The Walking Dead is still six weeks away, but to help fill the zombie void, tonight AMC kicks off the new prequel/spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead. In the original series, we were thrown right into the thick of the zombie apocalypse as Rick Grimes awoke from his coma, but we never got to see what the original outbreak was like. This new series takes a look at how those events unfolded, through the eyes of a whole new group of survivors in Los Angeles.

The cast of characters includes divorced high school English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis, Gang Related), his free-spirited ex-wife Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez, Orange is the New Black), and their son Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2), as well as Travis’s fiancee Madison Clark (Kim Dickens, House of Cards) and her two kids — the highly-ambitious Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey, The 100) and college drop-out Nick (Frank Dillane, Sense8), who also has a drug problem. Joining them are immigrant barber Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades, Gideon’s Crossing), his devoutly-religious wife Griselda (Patricia Reyes Spíndola, The Color of Passion), and their first-generation American daughter Ofelia (Mercedes Mason, 666 Park Avenue).

I’m really looking forward to seeing what the initial stages of the apocalypse are like, the panic and mayhem that ensues, and how a very different group comes together and figures out how to survive.

On tonight’s 90-minute premiere, “Pilot,” a dysfunctional blended family is forced together when they realize a reported virus is actually the start of the zombie apocalypse.

To see how the zombie apocalypse began, tune in to AMC at 9/8c.

I’ll also be watching/recording Big Brother, The Strain, The Great Food Truck Race, The Last Ship, Falling Skies, and The Brink.
