If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/20/11

What a long and fantastic week of television! We’ve had some great finales, and a few moments that confused us relationship fans (ie. Bones 😉 ) Tonight is no exception to the exciting week, though, so let’s take a look and see what you should be watching.

Gordon Ramsay is often seen as a hard-ass, but in reality he’s a sweet, caring man who just wants people in the restaurant business to succeed. That’s what Kitchen Nightmares is all about: helping people. That’s what I try to tell myself while Ramsay is yelling at these incompetent people. 😉

On tonight’s season finale, the culinary master visits another restaurant where the owners hope that he can keep their business from falling over the brink of failure, but as he attempts to employ his methods and turn everything around, he worries he has met his match.

Tune in to FOX at 8/7c to find out if Ramsay can help pull the restaurant from the edge of failure. Learn where to find episodes online of Kitchen Nightmares @ Clicker.

Tonight, there is a double header of season finale Supernatural goodness. Sam and Dean have faced many tough challenges in the past, but everyone knows that a Supernatural finale is the ultimate battle of good vs. evil. So, get settled on the edge of your seats, because this ending won’t go down smoothly.

In part one of the finale, a demon kidnaps Ben (Nicholas Elia) and Lisa (Cindy Sampson) in an attempt to get at Dean (Jensen Ackles). As a result, the brothers Winchester are forced to team up with an unlikely ally in order to save them. Apparently, the real-life departed writer H.P. Lovecraft is mixed up in the brothers’ battle in order to help keep the underworld at bay.

Part two of the season finale contains the fiercest battle of them all. Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Dean are at a loss when the walls of Sam’s (Jared Padalecki) mind come falling down. With no solution for how to save him, they are forced to stand there as Sam breaks. How will Dean handle the fight for Heaven on his own? One thing is for certain, this fight and finale are historic.

Tune in to the CW at 8/7c and 9/8c to see the afterlife battle go down. Learn where to find episodes online of Supernatural @ Clicker.

One show I was glad to see premiere a few weeks ago was the Canadian import, Flashpoint, on CBS. The writing is great, the cases are interesting (and sometimes, as was the premiere this season, absolutely heartbreaking), and the cast is fantastic. I’m not sure I can find any fault with the show most of the time, because it all just seems to really work well. If you haven’t given it a shot, please do!

On tonight’s episode, shots are fired at the scene of an accident involving an unmarked police car and a bus, and Team One arrives to discover that the drive of the police car is Spike’s mentor, Oliver McCoy, who was transporting two criminals at the time of the accident.

In Dillon, Texas, high school students dream big. The boys dream about their future in football and getting out of this small town, and they dream of a life that may or may not be in the cards. Some may end up sticking around, and some work so hard for a career and college life bigger then the city they grew up in. For many boys and girls, when you graduate from high school, it seems like the sky is the limit. For others, it’s the beginning of a life sentence. Just remember, the future isn’t written, so make it your own!

Tonight, a popular magazine praises Coach Taylor, while Vince’s past reappears and catches up to him. Luke faces the truth about TMU, and a car accident derails and delays Julie’s return back to college.

Friday night is a great night to chill out, and for me that means staying up and catching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. While he usually has great guests (tonight’s are Jim Belushi from The Defenders & According to Jim, Jennifer Lawrence – Katniss from The Hunger Games, and the Fleet Foxes as musical guest), my favorite parts are the comedy segments, like when he writes Thank You Notes. Of course, there are also moments like the one below!

Thanks again, everyone, for a great week here at TV Is My Pacifier. I hope you enjoyed my picks the last few days and hope that you found a new show to follow. Just a reminder that you can check out my reviews at daemonstv.com or contact me on twitter (@josedaemons).

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is on at 12:30AM/11:30PMc on NBC. Watch it and prepare to laugh your pants off. Learn where to find episodes online of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon @ Clicker.

It’s Friday night, and you’ve made it through the work week! The week sure wasn’t easy! Lord knows some of these season, and some series, finales took its toll on us viewers; not to mention a lot of announcements from networks about what shows have been canceled, what shows have been renewed, and what new shows have been picked up. We will be saying goodbye to shows like Human Target and Smallville, but also are saying welcome back to shows like Parenthood and Raising Hope. Whether your favorite show has come to an end, or is gearing up for an all new season, wipe your brow after a week of hard work and enjoy some relaxation.

Friday Night Lights has captured the hearts of so many viewers that it still amazes me that the show was not continued and the actors were continually overlooked at award shows. This show brought so much depth and power with the acting and the storylines. Thank goodness we have the reairing of these episodes on NBC, as well as the DVDs to relish the show’s lasting impressions. Believe me, with the legacy that this show has left, we viewers are better people from getting to treasure such a sweet and special show.

Tonight, Coach Taylor has a talk with Vince and his father all about recruitment regulations. Four of the Lions’ players make a life-long pact, and Julie’s relationship becomes even more complicated.

Watch and savor this show at 8/7c on NBC. Learn where to find episodes online of Friday Night Lights @ Clicker.

If We Controlled Your Remote… 5/6/11

It’s Friday, thank goodness. It was kind of a LONG week, but I’m hoping it’ll be a pretty good weekend. What about you? Do you have plans? For me, we have to start making lists and getting things ready, because on the 31st, my kiddo is going with a friend & his grandparents on a tour of the southwest US. They’re going to go to the Grand Canyon, a couple of national parks, etc. He’s never had the chance to do anything like this, so even though we’re nervous that he’s going to be gone without us or any of our family for 12 days, we’re so thrilled for him. Anyway, it’s a good night tonight on TV, which will hopefully lead into a good weekend for all of us! By the way, if you’re a fan of the Suite Life series on the Disney Channel, don’t miss tonight’s SERIES finale, where the kids (do they LOOK old enough to graduate high school?! lol) graduate! Now, let’s see what we think you should watch! 🙂

Jenny’s Choice #1

I feel like a mouthy wench, but again tonight, I’m going with two shows. There is just so much on, how can we NOT? My first pick tonight is the season premiere of Flashpoint. If you don’t know anything about the show, it’s Canadian, and a police drama depicting the emotional journey into the risk-filled lives of cops in the Strategic Response Unit (which, I think, is like the Canadian version of a SWAT team in the US). It’s really great, and has a fantastic cast, including Enrico Colantoni, who was the father on Veronica Mars.

On tonight’s episode, a man that is charged with killing his own baby puts his own life at risk and stops at nothing to get the real truth.

Let me just say that our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the tornadoes. While in the face of such destruction, television seems so small, the show must go on. Let’s see what you should be watching.

I can’t really put my finger on just one thing about Blue Bloods that makes it worth your time, because there are so many reasons. Whether it’s the sexy, talented cast, or the excellent story lines, you are missing out if you’re not watching. If you’re not watching, be careful… They may send Tom Selleck’s moustache after you. 😉

On tonight’s episode, Danny investigates the murder of a tourist, who was gunned down outside a popular Lower East Side restaurant. Meanwhile, Frank deals with the sensational way reporters are treating the story.

Tune into CBS at 10/9c to see if they can solve case before the reporters ruin everything. Learn where to find episodes online of Blue Bloods @ Clicker.

The Easter weekend is here, and I am so excited to have some great family time. My daughter has declared that since her baby brother can’t eat chocolate yet, the Easter Bunny should give her his share. Tricky girl, she is. 😉 Enough chatter about my family. We all wish you a happy holiday weekend, no matter what you celebrate. Now let’s get to some television.

Megan’s (& Jenny’s) Choice

There are only a few good mystical shows left, and Supernatural easily makes that list. There’s something about watching the sexy Winchester brothers battle evil and save the world, time and time again. The chemistry between this cast, the writing, and again, the sexy brothers, bring us back week after week, and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. 🙂 (This is my choice, too, and I echo everything Megan said! –Jenny)

On tonight’s episode, while looking for a way to beat Eve, Dean comes upon Samuel Colt’s journal. Realizing Samuel might have the answer to their problems, Sam and Dean ask Castiel to send them back in time to the Wild West to meet the man that wrote the journal. Sam Hennings (Memphis Beat) guest stars.

Looks like the final season of Friday Night Lights has kicked things off with a very emotional and powerfully charged storyline for many characters. Last week, we sent Julie and Landry off to college, and we saw Becky struggle with her life living with her dad, who is on the road, as she is left behind with her step mom and infant step sister. We saw Billy struggling with letting Tim take the rap for his car fencing business, with Tim in jail and Tami entering a new position at East Dillon as a counselor. We saw the East Dillon Lions get a new player, and Jess try to be a parent to her younger siblings while her dad is working out of town. A lot of changes have come, and life isn’t easy for anyone in Dillon, Texas.

Tonight, not everyone is happy with how the Lions played in the season opening game. Vince discovers that football stardom can come with benefits, while Luke pays for his aggressive play. Meanwhile, Tami tries to start a tutoring program that may or may not go over too well.
